Nice memories on a Saturday morning. Loved that team - back then, you felt a bond with the players that seems to be lacking now, although that could be because I'm 30 years older now. Anyway, thanks for posting.

Hearing Dave Puzzuoli talk about a key play where he got pinned inside the right edge, and lost containment allowing an Elway scramble got me thinking about another play that I *think* happened during the Bronco's tying drive. I remember a play where Puzzuoli breaks through and goes after Elway. Elway takes off to his right, while Puzz dives after him, grasping Elway's ankle with both hands. Instead of going down, Elway drags Puzzuoli for about 3 steps. We at the game are screaming "IN THE GRASP! IN THE GRASP!", but it doesn't get called. Instead, Elway completes a key 3rd down conversion, when by rule, it should have been a sack for a 10-12 yard loss. Instead of 4th & 20, the Broncos got a fresh set of downs.

But the truth is, 30 years makes the memory a bit foggy. Does anyone else remember that play? Did it happen during "the drive", or earlier in the game. Or not at all - maybe I'm just remembering an event from another game? I usually have a pretty sharp memory for details, and it bugs me that I'm not clear on this.

That is sooooo true. If the Browns lost, you weren't right in the head until Wednesday or Thursday when you started getting geeked for the next game. It was like that in the Kardiac Kid days also. Now we just laugh, even in the close games. It's like, "well, they just found another way to lose, hahahaha".

The 1986 and 1987 teams were my favorite Brown's teams ever. I used to live and die w/each game.

In those years a loss would ruin my whole week. It would stay that way until we won again, and again.

Those mid-to-late 80s Sundays were really special.

I loved Frank Minnifield. My all-time favorite Brown. Smallest guy on the field. And a perennial Pro-bowler.

I was born in 1986.

It's all my fault.

Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

I was a young boy during the Sipe years and they were awesome. But, I have so many great memories of those 86/87 Browns years. I was in high school and we used to go down to the Stadium whether we had tickets or not. We easily snuck in on several occasions and just kept moving so not to get kicked out. Man, so many great, great memories. I was also at the Browns v Jets Double OT playoff game. Still have my ticket stub (framed)!

Hopefully one day we will return to those glory years.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
