Would it be possible to make a new forum for politics, or Trump, so that we can get all of the tons of such threads out of the EE forum? It's getting ridiculous. You did so t=with the fantasy football and video games, and that's worked out great. I think that there is, and will continue to be, enough bickering and arguing over the next 4-8 years to justify such a forum.

I would really appreciate being able to go into EE and actually enjoy the forum.

For a former political junkie like me to be asking this shows how bad it's gotten.

I agree. It's the same small group of people saying the same things over and over again. It would be cool if we could read political threads to educate ourselves, but those threads are dominated by a constant stream of insults and one-sided opinions.

As you remember, we split Tailgate long ago for this same reason. I have been giving it some serious thought given the climate of this board at this time. I think one of the issues will be a lot of crossover as some human interest or current event threads can quickly become political with a number of posters on this board, which will lead to more moderation and more people with issues regarding that and other posters "ruining" their threads.

We will discuss it and make a determination soon.

It seems to me that the problem of moderation is akin to the problems in PF, where threads become draft threads, r personal arguments. That's always going to be a problem, though. I am sure that many political threads become smack threads right now.

I see I am not the only one annoyed by the constant political spam "smack" threads. Yes please, can there there please be a separate forum for that. All the other off topic threads get drowned out.

why just not read the political threads?

I could do that, and if they refuse my request, I will just do as I have been doing, and ignore them ... to the best of my ability.

Actually, that happens in a lot of the forums anymore. It's why I have begun to not even read entire threads. There was a time when I read everything outside of the Shack, and the Gaming forum. I now go into forums, see the same stuff, (and I could pretty much figure out who is going to post, and what they will say) and move on. I probably log in/out 3 or 4 times a day, just to clear the post jumpers.

24 threads on the 1st page in EE are political in nature. That seems to indicate that they should have their own forum. The dozens of political threads push other threads down, to die the premature death of 2nd page thread. I think that Political forum is in order.

They started the "gaming forum" because of all of the various gaming threads that were bogging EE down. Politic is no different, and in fact, it's probably worse than the worst of gaming threads.

Anyway, I made a request, and they either will do what I asked, or not. I just don't see why anyone would be against doing this.

We have been considering a distinct forum for politics for a while now, we just haven't had a lot of time for discussion. This is by no means the first time we have thought about it or had it requested. Again, we are leaning toward starting the new forum soon.

Good threads on EE are bumped down by the constant political threads that are just repeats of all the other political threads.

Not sure how it would hurt you to have to go to another forum to read/participate on the never-ending "Trump sucks" or "Thank You, Donald" threads?

Might as well just make it a sub forum of the smack shack.

Yep.............in fact, I was thinking about why they just don't replace the Smack Shack w/the Political forum. Heck the last post in that forum was Feb 9th or something like that.

And the political threads are not educational or true debates. They are truly smack driven.

But again...........how would it hurt you to read the political threads on another forum?

Why not a Political Forum with No moderation? Just let the filter snatch out the bad words while the posters kill each other with their stupidity.

Heck, it might even add to the value of DawgTalkers as the rest of the internet registers here just to come and view the carnage.

If there were any chance of keeping any/all animosity cultivated in such an environment from spilling out into other areas of the board (and thus causing more moderation), I would actually consider this.

But, as we see on a daily basis already, things spill over from one area to another all the time.... particularly rivalries, antagonisms, and personal beefs. An unfettered forum would simply magnify that.

I don't know about that. I think the EE forum has devolved into a mostly political place where a handful of members insult each other, and not too many other posters check out what's in the political threads anymore because they are so redundant. More that a few of us used to be regular active posters in the political forums, but a few things have changed over time. The overall political climate has changed in this country, where the bitterness and hate have really come to a head. Back in the day, this was one of a few places where one could discuss politics online...now we are bombarded with it every time we turn on our phones or computers. Rather than coming here to seek political debate, it's almost like I come here to avoid it. It would be nice if it were contained in it's own forum.

personally, i basically stay out of the everything else forum anymore. i'll stick to tailgate, football, and draft

Please keep all political discussions confined to the new forum. Threads outside of there that get steered into a political discussion will either be moved or have their political content summarily deleted.
