Well the entire top 10 is set so whoever wants to start this thing I'm sure people can take command of the later teams as we go. So should we vote for #1 now?

I don't think we ever came close to 7 rounds. Timing wise, unless we all dedicated a 4 hour or more window and did it live, we won't likely be able to. We need to give everyone 4-6 or more hours to pick due to work, life, time zones, etc... and more over night. I think if we got 3 rounds in, we'd be lucky. Yes we have completed the full 7 rounds before. damn, we're good I did't obviously remember that, but I trust your memory. Any idea how long that took us?

I think we can, we just need to set some of the ground rules on it like how long between picks, and trade approvals. it is up to CHS though. I can't think of the others we had. I'd think we'd want to start a new thread for the actual mock too, otherwise the two combined into 1 might get cluttery.

I vote Steve to draft for the Browns. I vote for a poll for each Browns pick. 24 hours, most votes is the pick.

Are we doing 7 rounds? I got to be honest I'm good if we stop after the Browns 3rd rounder. After that its just kind of crazy. In that case the rams and vikes would only pick once in the 2nd and the pats not at all. We could just do community pick for the rams and vikes I think. That would make the NE GM the easiest job in the draft.

Couple questions:
1, Is this a pick who you would pick if you were the teams GM or a pick who you think that they will pick com draft day?
2, How many rounds are you planning to do?
Am I perfect? No Am I trying to be a better person? Also no

2, How many rounds are you planning to do? When I've done these in the past, I pretend to be their GM and go by their needs, not really BPA. Also, it would be cool to do trades. I wanted the Titans so I could be "that guy". I'd offer #5 and #18 and next years first rounder for the Browns #1...just to see if the board would take it. Not that I don't want Garrett, I do, but I'd want to spice this mock draft up. As for the rounds, I'm hoping only two because someone will have to help me after that. Heck, I'll probably screw up round 2 for the Lions anyway.

I am sure one of my "friends" will turn this into another insult, but I don't think the Brown's pick should be by the majority. Too many people are biased and the majority pick is probably going to be lame.
I think a well-respected talent evaluator should make the picks.

Stick me in there for a team.
I think if you want a 24 hour pick for each Browns Pick - I'd maybe consider doing that separately? Might make this one a little more straight forward?
The more things change the more they stay the same.

I think a well-respected talent evaluator should make the picks. I think we should do both. Let one person be the GM and the rest of the board be the scouts/draft room members. We can suggest things and the GM can take it all under advisement but ultimately makes his/her own decision.

[color:#99FFFF]I had an idea to throw out there, see if it sticks, if we ever did this thing again. Some sort of raffle, for each of the individual 11 picks the Browns have, to a different dawgtalker, you only get one time, ... if you make a trade down, you only get the 1st next pick you traded down for. How could it work? Get DT's who want, pick a number 1-66 er whatever, and in the next "ohio lotto" or whatever, the numbers that come up go to the assigned dawgtalker, in order they come up, example clwb419... 22, 22 hits in the lotto clwb picks for the Browns #1 overall, somebody else picks #12, somebody else at 33, etc. complicated, somebody'd have to watch the lotto to see what order the balls actually came up, but not impossible.

Agreed. I've usually seen mock drafts ran for about a month.
Well, we have 10 teams left, but I don't see why we shouldn't start this by Friday. We can have people be dual GM's if there are not enough people by then. So that will give us 27 days to pick 253 players. That's certainly plausible to do, but will be difficult. It does mean that we won't have time to vote over every Cleveland pick. I've read the thread and most people still want to vote for the Browns' pick. I think that if we vote on the first 2 rounds of Browns picks, and then let a GM take over for the rest of the draft would be the fairest compromise.
What does everyone else think?

I think a well-respected talent evaluator should make the picks. ...so who is going to go and convince Ray Farmer to make the Browns' picks for our draft? I get what you are saying, but at the same time, no matter how we end up doing it someone is likely to disagree with the picks. I think the discussion in the poll thread could be more interesting than the pick itself.

You were one of the guys I was going to recommend making the picks for the Browns. steve would be an obvious choice, but he said he doesn't have time to do much research this year. I think I have spent some time doing research. I think predator and ed would also be worthy of being chosen. I think Jester is also has the background, but I wouldn't vote for him because he doesn't like Garrett or Jimmy G. LOL

LOL I was just trying to point out that finding someone "well respected" is as subjective as the draft picks. It would be hard to get everyone to agree. I'm sure I'll try to post in the poll threads who I think we should pick based on how things play out. Not sure how in depth I'll be able to go. This semester has been rough and it's looking like it's only going to pick up. I hope you do the same as far as sharing your thoughts on the Browns' picks. Who actually wins the poll doesn't concern me that much. It's all in fun. I just want to see the different thought processes.

Are we picking in order...meaning as the Chiefs I will wait until I am officially "on the clock" ?
If so, how much time will be allowed for those of us in different time zones?

In all honesty I think Ed's the one that should Gm if we go that way which I now actually prefer after thought. His approach is analytical yet rooted in tape, he's impartial and is more in depth than most if not all of us. We could still post a poll anyways. A straight vote would maybe not be the right way to go. A lot of people just don't have time to do the homework some of us already have.

Anyone whom it's decided to pick for the Browns,is . [color:#FFFFFF]Actually I vote, Versatile, or whomever Vers. recommends. [color] (duh) It's not Friday, today's Thurday, My only objection is do people think everyone has had time enough to notice the thing, who'll want to get involved. Starting a little late this year,. 2. I want the Arizona Cardinals, (If no objections) 3. I'll go to Nfl.com and post the draft order in about many minutes. Is it too early to just say Browns pick is On the clock, If it's a board vote, check me for Mr Obvious at #1, worst kept secret in sports.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

If so, how much time will be allowed for those of us in different time zones? So, what I'm thinking is. We would have to get in about 15 picks a day to pull off a complete draft. That's not really that crazy given how active this community is. However, in fairness I think we should have draft windows be open for 10 hours for everyone during the first two rounds. That should give people plenty of time to make a pick, with us hoping they pick within that first hour. We can work with specific conditions to. It'd be unfair to penalize Drobs if his pick correlates to his sleep schedule in Europe. Having 10 hours also kind of helps avoid those situations. I was even thinking that we should probably enforce this clock during the day and not through the night. The clock would resume that next morning however. You can make selections during the night, they just won't be time enforced. If we do that method, then I think we could probably shorten the amount of time between picks, starting at the 2nd round with a time limit of 8-9 hours and finishing with the 7th round lasting 3-4 hours. To help with time. If someone doesn't get their pick in, then they should either be skipped or just given BPA. That's kinda what I've thought about for the past few days. I also think trades should be allowed for picks only. No players.

If you want the draft to get done in that time, better skip trades or have a rule that the trade must be announced within first two hours OTC or something like that.
