For anybody who is using CBS sporstline for fantasy football this year, they have added an option for a practice squad. It works similar to a minor league in baseball except you can bring up or drop down any player at any time. You can make the practice squads as big as you want also. Is anyone else going to introduce this feature into their leagues this year?
A few of the guys in my league are shaky on it, they think it may allow too much freedom when it comes to roster moves.
What are your thoughts?

As big as you want? I don't like the idea. I, for one, will pick up every player left over after the draft.. I'll have to find a diamond in the rough out of all those lol.

So can any of your opponants grab one of your players off the practice squad like they can in the real thing????
I thought I was wrong once....but I was mistaken...
What's the use of wearing your lucky rocketship underpants if nobody wants to see them????

Im not sure i would use it, unless I was in a large keeper or dynasty. Maybe have it for rookies and have a rule that you cant bring them up during the season and if you do then you cant send them back down. I dont know, I dont see much of a benefit to it yet.

I was thinking of using it in the league, I'm going to let the teams vote on it, I'm just worried it will change the dynamic of having to scramble when someone is injured, or when you have to pick up someone quickly, meaning you have to drop someone, the practice squad makes all that easier.
It could be great for keepers though, nothing like finding a young gem and stashing him away till next season.

Whats the point of a free agency then....when you can claim players for yourself and not leave any left over?
Or is there some way to select in a order who you wish to have on your squad...normally i find the dimonds in the dirt after a few games of seeing how consitant they are....so this would ruin me lol.

There would be a limitation to the number of guys you could keep on the practice squad. My league is thinking about only allowing 1 practice squad player. There is no limitation as to who can be on the quad though.

Is there are rule like you cant call him up during the first year, or that it has to be a rookie? or maybe if you call him up you cant send him back down to the practice squad?
If its open to anyone and they have free reign on when you can send them down and call them up then its no different than adding an extra spot on the bench.

I don't like the idea b/c it gives that one team that gets really stacked another roster spot to sit on a guy.

I dont mind sitting on a guy for the right reasons. If its designed to scout potential and reward an owner for finding a young talent then I think it can work. But if its just used to open another roster spot I dont see the point.
There needs to be some rules set around it or its just an additional bench position.

That's true, it is just like another reserve, As of right now there are no rules surrounding it, so you can put guys on and lift them off the next week. We are going to vote on it at the draft.
