My dream scenario for the draft and the Browns in general is to go defense heavy in this draft, while not getting caught up in reaching for a QB...

... and somehow getting through next season with enough success that they don't fire everyone again. I think with the possibility of this team moving some of these current picks, that we could possibly find our guy at the right time next year. The last thing anyone wants is for us to reach for a QB that isn't someone who blew the team away, just because we are in desperate need of one.

I think after everything that happened last year, and the amount of youth, and this draft + our free agent period, that Hue can find a way to get enough wins to keep Jimmy and the front office content with him. I do believe he can be the right guy, but I'm terrified the pressure to win and find a QB could lead to another regime change.

And I'm the first guy to point out a regime change when one is needed. When coaches don't have good game plans, and make awful in game mistakes, but in the back of my mind I know we can't be doing this all the time.

I was pretty pleased with this one, Adams rarely falls to 12 and I was comfortable with my choices through 5/1. I could have had Watson at 2/1 and Mahomes at 3/1, but was focused on defense, a WR and a RB. I went with Dobbs after reading about his connection with Hue at the Senior Bowl. FP didn't like that choice much.

A+ for passing on Watson and Mahomes.

How does a league celebrating its 100th season only recognize the 53 most recent championships?

San Rogers is pretty fun as a receiver and even a little bit as a runner but he's not a very good run blocker. Not sure what to do with him.

Just read this article. Thought it was interesting:

There seems to be no right answer.

Of course nobody said it had to be done this way but I made an effort not to make more than 11 selections, which is our total draft allotment:

Your score is: 12913 (GRADE: A-)

Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 1: Myles Garrett, DE/OLB, Texas A&M (A-)
Round 1 Pick 12: O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama (A)
Round 2 Pick 1: Patrick Mahomes II, QB, Texas Tech (B+)
Round 2 Pick 25 (HOU): Josh Jones, SS, NC State (B)
Round 3 Pick 1: Chris Godwin, WR, Penn State (A-)
Round 3 Pick 25 (HOU): Tanoh Kpassagnon, DE, Villanova (B)
Round 4 Pick 1: Dalvin Tomlinson, DT, Alabama (A)
Round 4 Pick 22 (MINN): John Johnson, FS, Boston College (B+)
Round 5 Pick 37 (COMP): Shaquill Griffin, CB, UCF (A-)
Round 6 Pick 1: Jeremy Cutrer, CB, Middle Tennessee (C+)
Round 6 Pick 4: Stevie Tu'ikolovatu, DT, Southern California (B)

I don't think you can "fix" the Brown's defense without an investment in the D-line. Especially since Williams says he will not compromise on effort. We'll need more guys inside.

I may be in the minority, but I'm a straight "no" on Howard at 12 unless he's the only "top 12" left on the board.

This draft doesn't seem very sexy, but I like it a lot:

Round 1 Pick 14 (PHI): Jamal Adams, SS, LSU (A+)
Round 2 Pick 1: Patrick Mahomes II, QB, Texas Tech (B+)
Round 2 Pick 11 (PHI): Zach Cunningham, OLB/ILB, Vanderbilt (A)
Round 2 Pick 20: Kevin King, CB, Washington (A-)
Round 3 Pick 1: Marcus Maye, FS, Florida (B+)
Round 4 Pick 1: Noah Brown, WR, Ohio State (B+)
Round 5 Pick 1: Nathan Peterman, QB, Pittsburgh (A-)
Round 5 Pick 31: Conor McDermott, OT, UCLA (B+)
Round 5 Pick 37 (COMP): Corn Elder, CB, Miami (Fla.) (A)
Round 6 Pick 1: Charles Walker, DT, Oklahoma (B+)
Round 6 Pick 4: Brian Hill, RB, Wyoming (A+)

Not sure where this should go or if its all ready up ...

FYI ..

Sidney Jones - DB - Player

Ravens assistant GM Eric DeCosta said he does not expect Washington CB Sidney Jones (Achilles') to fall "that much" in the draft.

A sure-fire first rounder before suffering a torn Achilles' at his Pro Day, Jones was expected to fall into the second day following the injury, but DeCosta's comments suggest a team at the back end of the first round could take a shot on the talented corner. "There have been players that have gone very high in the first round with injuries like that," DeCosta said. "He is a really good player, and I don't think it is going to affect him that much." Jones is expected to resume running in four months, and there is some hope he will be able to return late in his rookie year.

This is my dream draft;

#1 Garrett
#5 Hooker (trade #12, 2018 2nd round, #177 5/32)
Garoppolo for #33 & another 2018 2nd round
#52 CB (Jones, Wilson, Lewis)
#65 Ogunjobi or Zay Jones

I don't doubt they will, I'm just not in love with Howard at #12. Especially if say Adams, Hooker, Lattimore, Foster, or Reddick are there. I'm not even sure Howard is the best TE in the class. I wouldn't have a problem with Njoku in the second if he's there. Or Butt or maybe Leggett later. Fairly deep class, don't need a TE in the first round, IMHO.

He said he didn't want to talk to Booger McFarlain. IMHO, WGARA. I don't blame him. Why mix it up with a guy that clearly doesn't like him? No point in jeopardizing his draft stock by risking saying something he'd regret later.

Greeny: “I’m told there is some sort of issue that he has with something you have said. That just is what it is — that would be neither the first nor last time that has happened.”

If Gollic had been there, it's a non-story. Still is. Nothing to see here, IMO.

All I have to say is that the mock generator is totally wacked and unrealistic. Many of the players that miraculously fall have 0 chance of being there. I can't find one mock that hooker or Adams falls to 12 and I have to question the value of players selected in between.

There will be no playoffs. Can’t play with who we have out there and compounding it with garbage playcalling and worse execution. We don’t have good skill players on offense period. Browns 20 - Bears 17.

It looks like you traded down from #1 with Tenn for #5, #18 and their 1st next year. Is that right?

Also, you traded down from #12 with Washington for #18 in the 1st and #17 in the 2nd. Is that accurate?

If so, I would definitely do the Tenn trade. I doubt that they would give up that much but I would do that trade. I wouldn't do it for just #5 and #17.

Interesting trade with Washington. I don't have an opinion about that at this time. I haven't looked past my top 12 players to have an idea who would be available at #18.

2 Trades in this draft scenario, I think we would be willing to trade down at 12 also but with Jamal Adams there I made the Pick.

I believe this FO loves Mitch Trubisky and feels like they can trade down in round 1 with the Jets with the stipulation they won't take Trubisky, along with picking up a 2 this year and next years 1, then I feel we will get hammered with offers on day 2 and will trade for the best offer which is Arizona on here with the swapping of 2's and getting their 3rd and 4th rounders:

Your score is: 15705 (GRADE: A+)

Your Picks:

I traded #1 to NYJ for #1, #2 and net year's #1. Traded back in to get Garrett. Wouldn't be too upset if this pans out - Mahomes is a project but lots of raw material. The 2 CBs are good players, Kazee is underrated and a ball hawk. Garret and Adams immediately upgrade our defense, Williams gives Kessler / Brock and eventually Mahomes as big body. Davenport to develop behind Joe.

Round 1 Pick 3 (CHI): Myles Garrett, DE/OLB, Texas A&M (A+)
Round 1 Pick 12: Jamal Adams, SS, LSU (A+)
Round 1 Pick 31 (ATL): Mike Williams, WR, Clemson (A)
Round 2 Pick 11 (PHI): Patrick Mahomes II, QB, Texas Tech (A+)
Round 3 Pick 35 (PHI): Cameron Sutton, CB, Tennessee (A)
Round 5 Pick 1: Julie'n Davenport, OT, Bucknell (B+)
Round 6 Pick 1: Damontae Kazee, CB, San Diego State (A)
