This guy just fell short of 1000 yards on a team with poor QB play and an oft injured Oline. Calling him mediocre is foolish. When you have games where you only carry the ball 11 times, it is hard to be a difference maker.

we'll see if we draft a RB in the top 3 rounds

The deadline passes and he didn't sign. I guess I don't understand what that means. Can anyone explain?

I don't understand this....If he wanted to be paid like a starter, he would have signed his tender. I agree with Diam, the sooner we move on from him the better. Who's up at #12 for RB? Fournette? Who else?

It would be my assumption that maybe he wants a long term deal, instead of playing a one year tender.

Just my assumption, though.

I do not blame any player for wanting a long term contract. This is especially true for a running back.

Interesting, were I him I'd sign. With the line we got in FA I think he'll do well. If he doesn't trip over a blade of grass or a gremlin...

WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM

I like Crowell. I think he has plenty of talent. Just need an offense that can get us a lead and a defense that can protect it and then get this kid 25 carries a game. Hard to do when down 10+ points in the 2nd quarter.

Agreed. He's only missing voluntary workouts.

I'm not worried. He's potentially going into a contract year at a devalued position for those that aren't game changers. He might not be here, but he's working out.

He doesn't have much leverage, he'll be practicing in no time. Whether he is here next year, who knows. But this year, he will play for us, and he will play his butt off

On a better team, he might have had 1,200 plus rushing yards last year.

Well if this means he cannot negotiate with nay other team that can't mean he does not want to play for us.
It only can mean that he does.

signing the tender insures that he will get around 2.7 mil this season.

RBs just are not in any demand and do not access big contracts.

I wonder if we cannot agree on a contract by next week do we draft Fournette or Cook at 12??? Both are probably UPGRADES on Crowell although I was satisfied with Crowell and rather get another position there...but if he is painting himself in a corner...RBs are now a dime a dozen.

Oh crap. The real elephant in the room and we are all aware

What happens if this FO doesn't sign him, "one of our own " and drafts another RB?

Drafting a rb in the top three rounds would be a wastes pick. There is too much defensive talent to pass on. With a better line and half way decent passing threat will open up the run game a ton. Crow is a better back than what most think.

RB at 12? I would puke.

He's a solid back, give him a three year deal that's fair to both sides. He might have rung up 1,200 yards

Except our passing game was weak, thusly Cro would be neutralized.

yeah, i just wish crow was a little better in the passing game. it's just too transparent when Duke/Crow are in/out of the game

This is how I feel. He came on strong and ran with anger last year, it was good to see. But, if a deal can't be reached, there are a few guy that can be taken in the 3rd or fourth that could probably replace him without missing a beat.

Yeah, this is my take on it. Crow isn't Adrian Peterson or anything like that. With that said, he's not below average or anything either.

My understanding is this draft is packed with RB options, so I'm okay with drafting one or I'm okay with Crow staying. Either situation isn't going to make or break this team. Crow should realize he plays a position that doesn't demand as much money and etc as it use to, and signed the tender. He should have a great opportunity doing what he likes, one cut and go type runs, with the two new additions to the offensive line.

Interesting to see what he might do with this line. Kind of indifferent to this one. Like him ore if more consistent.

I don't just mean out of the backfield. Should have clarified. Lining WR up on the outside is a current trend. Duke is often out there and is effective. It spreads the defense out. If Crow had that capability defenses couldn't package as much for him.

He is a serviceable HB. I won't cry if we lose him. I don't like how he gets happy feet some times. He has a fair amount of dropped passes too.
