(I know these things are meaningless, but) Charley Casserly's mock on NFL . com is my favorite so far. He has us taking Garrett at #1, Howard at #12, and trading with NO to take Trubisky at #32 on a 1st round contract.

I guess I would be OK with him or Kizer at 32/33. My fear is that we do something truly idiotic and take a QB with #1 ... or even #12. Either of these guys will need time to develop. Neither is, IMHO, a day 1 starter ..... or maybe even a year 1 starter.

my ideal situation is Garrett at #1, Howard/Hooker/Allen/Adams at #12, Baker at #33.
If Trubisky falls to 32, I'm good with that too!

I could live with that.. but I would rather have Conley than Howard. would rather have defense on our first 2 picks.
Otherwise.. I have no problems moving up to get Trubisky on a 5 yr contract.

I thought Dobbs was a head-scratcher at 52. More like 152, from what I've read.

I guess he's kind of a hybrid inside-the-box Safety / Linebacker, so I don't know if he's a fit here. He is a good return guy, and we need someone to return punts and the occasional returnable kickoff.

I Peppers really a fit for us ?? Williams does love that thumper type safety IIRC. Maybe he is? I actually see him going before round 2 though. I don't know why, but I see Pitt liking him

I could live with that draft. Love Elder, Henderson, and Jenkins. Those would be huge steals at that point. Howard at 12 a coup.

I'm really starting to think the #12 is go in some form to bring in Trubisky. Either as part of a trade up or at the pick itself. I definitely don't see them jumping on Howard if there's a way to get the QB.

I'm intrigued by Mahomes but, taking him that high is absurd. Hell, I'm wary about Trubisky at 12!

Given the class of QBs, the teams that need them - I doubt Trubisky lingers out of the first 15 spots. Even though they (this years QB class), IMO and many others anyway, may not truly be deserving of first round selections - teams need them and for that reason alone will cause them to get selected.

I think this is the first week Grossi had a mock that didn't have Forrest Lamp being drafted twice. Well done, Grossi! I see progress.

I think he gets drafted higher than what the media would have you believe. Arizona is an option too, IMO.

Has there ever been a draft where the first QB that was picked was taken that late (or thereabouts)?

Casserly has the QB's evaluated exactly the way I do. I have said before that the only way I see any value at all is moving up from #33 to #32 to insure a five year deal on a QB.
There will probably be someone who reaches earlier, but you don't draft a QB who won't be able to start for a year or two early.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Yup.
I get that you can't fix a QB problem without getting a new QB, but has anyone ever solved a QB problem by reaching for a QB in the draft?

So far, in Grossi's various mock drafts, he's had Lamp drafted twice in the 1st round, Fournette drafted twice in the 1st round, Ramczyk drafted twice in the first round, Humphrey's drafted twice in the first and Mike Williams not even being drafted in the first round.

Would love to see a MKC draft. I suspect it would look something like:
1) Mitchell Trubisky, QB 12) Traded to New England for Jimmy Garoppolo 33) Traded to New England for Jimmy Garoppolo 52) Davis Webb, QB 65) Josh Dobbs, QB 108) Brad Kaaya, QB 145) Chad Kelly, QB 175) Alek Torgersen, QB 181) Sefo Liufau, QB 185) C.J. Beathard, QB 188) Jerod Evans, QB

LMFAO Isn't it the truth though? It's like the whole 53 man roster should all just be QBs haha... let's run Hogan at fullback!!!! It's all she pretty much talks about when she asks her ridiculous questions at the pressers, too.
