J/C I'd to thank them for raising the taxes on those kind of cigs or otherwise I may not have quit 10 years ago. I think it went from somewhere around 2.25 to 3.00 then, and I refused to pay 3 a pack. Now I couldn't imagine paying 4 or 5 dollars for a pack of cigs that does absolutely nothing for me. I'll just stick with the non-taxable ones myself.

lol, ignorance at its finest right here. A few facts...
Alcohol IS taxed, albeit at a much lower rate than tobacco.
Tobacco kills a LOT more people than alcohol. I don't know the exact numbers but they shouldn't be too hard to find for people who aren't lazy like me.
"At least by smoking, I'm only killing myself"
- ahh, the best thing written. This is obviously implicating drinking and driving, but second hand smoke kills far more people annually and it's not even close. Worth mentioning here is that the term 'alcohol related' when used in referencing accidents or deaths resulting from accidents is a huge fraud. Say you have an unopened case of beer in the trunk, you're driving, and someone runs a red and T-bones you, killing your passenger. This would be considered an alcohol-related fatality, even if nobody in either car had a single drop of alcohol in them. This isn't to excuse real drunk driving by any stretch but it is VERY shady how this is reported. I only mentioned this in expectation that someone would try to post some statistics comparing deaths resulting from secondhand smoke vs 'alcohol related deaths' (fwiw, the former is still way higher).
As far as the new tax being levied, I honestly don't care much either way. I can't say that it affects me a whole lot.

Most of the studies on second hand smoke related death are based on junk science. There's no frickin' way to prove somebody died of second hand smoke. There have been double blind studies (not sponsored by tobacco companies or their interests and not receiving huge grants from social activist groups) showing a lot of evidence to the contrary. You don't hear much about these in the press. See here: forces.org

Amen, I quit three years ago, while deer hunting in the woods, it got to the point I couldnt stay up with my kids in the woods, I stopped New Years day 2004 and have not had one since, We started walking more, I found i had alot more energy, felt better all around, taste better, Last year while bow hunting my kids wore out and I was still going, People always say I'd like to quit but I'll gain weight, yes you will if you stop smoking and still plant your ass infront of the TV 8 hours a day eating chips and drinking pop, I gained no extra weight, I started walking, drinking water instead of pop, if I got a erge to smoke or eat we'd walk around the block until that urge left, it was cold a few times, but it worked.

Congrats Clay.. I know first hand that's it difficult to stop smoking. In fact, I was never successful at it until I tried hypnosis..
I went to Don Mannerino in Beachwood Ohio and sure enough,, BOOM,, I haven't even wanted a cig since. Of course, my wife went the next day and within an hour or so, she was going nuts for a cig.. for her it just didn't work.
If anyone wants to know how to reach Mannerino, let me know, I'll be glad to PM you his URL.

Clay that just doesn't work YOU can drink all the water you want, and walk to China and back, and it doesn't help one single bit, I still crave my smokes.
Oh wait you mean I have to drink the water, and walk I'll spill my pop, and chips if I do that

I know you know this, but the point is to do something to pass time until the urge passes. Silly man.

Isn't that what the couch, TV, pop, and chips are for.
