I hope we do as well. I look forward to comparing actual draft versus our picks. I've been considering trying to figure out a way to set up a point system and see "who did best", maybe send them a prize when the new product hits the nike website (I still get employee discount).

I did a mock once with a college kid that graded the drafts based on: average draft rank from NFLN, CBS, ESPN and one other site vs where the pick was made in the mock vs where the player was actually drafted

I hate to say it but we should probably put in a pick for Punch. I'm at my kids birthday party, could someone help out?

Chiefs needed to add another offensive piece and Chad Williams, WR, Grambling State is a late round sleeper. With the 3rd best 40 clocked at Pro Day Williams most likely could have gone higher but, he is from a smaller college and has had some off the field issues. The GM and Andy Reid will make sure nonsense of any sort wont be tolerated and the kid will prove to be the sleeper that we gambled on!

Who says I didn't screw it up for myself?

It's funny, I traded up for Derek Barnett at 12, which seemed like a good idea at the time based on the mock drafts I saw and rankings I was looking at, but I recently watched a live ESPN draft a few nights ago and Derek went 18th. Sooooo...not sure.

It's all fun, dude. I am sure several of us bought into busts but, we may have scored some potential stars and maybe the occasional sleeper.

Also, re: Barnett.....more sacks in the SEC than Garrett. I think he and Taco are going to be solid picks. But, who am I?

With the 218th pick the Chiefs selected Josh Augusta, DT, Missouri.

KC lost Poe on the line but, they did sign Bennie Logan and have Chris Jones on the end. However, With the recent release of Jaye Howard a bit of interior depth may be needed. Augusta is raw and will need work but, he is huge and could hopefully evolve into a solid back-up NT.

Detroit Lions so far...

12 (1st). Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee
85 (3rd). D’Onta Foreman, RB, Texas
127 (4th). Howard Wilson, CB, Houston
205 (6th). Carroll Phillips, LB, Illinois
215 (6th). Jehu Chesson, WR, Michigan
250 (7th). ?, ?, ?

Clearly I'm winning this draft so far. tongue

I'm actually looking forward to seeing where these players get drafted and how well they do during their rookie season.

I vote for Chad Williams as the steal of this mock draft.

He popped on my radar at the SB. Despite the difference in comp level athletically he impressed. He's raw but talented. Physically he reminds me of Corey Davis.

Nice pick.

I could do that. I have NFL.com, CBS, and PFF (though PFF ony goes to 250). NFL.com is as of 2 weeks ago, PFF last week and CBS last week. I'll make any player not on the PFF list as 251.

I'm thinking 1 point for every spot after the PFF/CBS/NFL average (for example, if the average is 150 and a player was mocked at 160, they'd get 10 points). And if a player is chosen before the average, the draftee gets -1 point for every 0-5 spots before the average (so if the average is 150 and the player was picked at 140, they'd get -2 points).

I'll do the same for the real draft, but add 10 points after the first round for getting the pick, team, and spot correct.

Counter proposals???

Thanks man! Yea, I was surprised he was still there but, glad he was. He has been on my radar for a while but, I needed to fill a few higher priority roster spots. He will need to convince coaches he isn't a headcase but, if he does and he stays focused he could be a real gem.

With the 223rd pick in the 2017 Dawgtalkers Mock Draft,

The Miami Dolphins select William Likely III, Cornerback, Maryland

The Dolphins have three divisional opponents they are chasing for the AFC East Crown: The Patriots, the Patriots, and the Patriots. With the Pats adding Brandin Cooks to go along with Julian Edelman and James White, they've got several undersized but shifty slot targets to give their opponents headaches. Likely has excellent man cover skills but diminutive stature. However, he's perfect for the role he's needed in in helping to defend against the division powerhouse's primary weapons. Likely is a small but strong and tough corner with All-American return skills. Says one AFC personnel man: "Stick that guy in a 6-foot body and he's probably the first cornerback off the board this year. He's got everything you want other than NFL size". Fortunately, in this matchup league, Likely can find a role as a matchup specialist against small quick wide receivers which give the Dolphins trouble.

I quite like the Jets' draft I put together. They needed secondary help especially, an upgrade at LB, and OL and WR. I see the first 4 picks starting right away, as well as Taylor. Hooker is one of the blue chip players - I hope the Browns somehow snag him.

Malik Hooker S Ohio State
Jarrad Davis LB Florida
Dion Dawkins OG Temple
Cameron Sutton CB Tennessee
Will Holden OT Vanderbilt
Taywan Taylor WR Western Kentucky
Jeremy Cutrer CB Middle Tennessee State

I like Hooker and Davis together. That improves their defense.

The Colts need all kinds of Defensive help and depth on Offense so I went with the following picks:

1. T. McKinley - OLB - UCLA
2. A. Jackson - CB - USC
3. M. Adams - DT - Auburn
4a. M. Maye - FS - Florida
4b. D. Isidora - OG - Miami
5a. J. Evans - SS - Texas A&M
5b. C. Harris - ILB - Lindenwood
6. M. Dayes - RB - NC State
7. A. Gennesy - OL - Texas A&M

McKinley gives the Colts much needed pass rush help, currently they have Jabaal Sheard and John Simon as their starting OLBs. Adams should push for a starting spot on the DLine to go with newly signed J. Hankins. In Jackson, Maye and Evans I think the Colts have 3 potential starters to team up with Vontae Davis. Harris should at least provide depth at ILB. Isidora will get a chance to challenge for the RG spot and Gennesy can possibly stick as the backup swing OT. My only regret was that I didn't draft a RB sooner then the 6th rnd as Gore is getting up there in years but I think Dayes shows some promise.

nice draft 66. that'll help their D. The colts can't just keep relying on Luck to score 40 a game.

We need to get Chargers' pick in. I'm not going to pick a player because I know he'll log on right after like the last three times I put a pick in for someone, but I hope he logs on soon.

In an effort to get this done before the draft, people might want to PM someone, like me, who doesn't have a pick anymore, their top 5 or so prospects. That way we can just post your picks quicker and you won't have to feel tethered to a computer this week!

With the 232nd pick in the 2017 Dawgtalkers Mock Draft,

The Los Angeles Rams select D.J. Jones, Nose Tackle, Ole Miss

While he doesn't have the ceiling of his draftmate Jarron Jones, D.J. Jones has the size and athleticism to be a legit 1-gap nose tackle prospect of his own. The latter Jones has traveled a much different route, however, going from Juco transfer to starting defensive tackle for Ole Miss, and his drive and effort along with Wade Phillips' coaching may be what Jarron needs to capitalize on his potential. And if he doesn't, there's someone waiting in the waing s to seize his opportunity.

With the 233rd pick in the 2017 Dawgtalkers Mock Draft,

The Los Angeles Rams select Ishmael Zamora, Wide Receiver, Baylor

Could I have drafted a receiver who wasn't on video belting his dog? Yes. But when you can draft Josh Gordon in the seventh round, you draft Josh Gordon in the seventh round.

I'll rethink this, the logic is flawed. For example, I chose Mack Hollins in the 6th round at pick number 226. If I look at the average of NFL.com/PFF/CBS, he is rated 119. So I get 107 points for him. That one pick moves me from the middle of the pack to the highest scoring draft.

I think the mock should also be graded/weighted based on where they're selected in the actual draft.

I just want to again throw out some thanks to CHSDawg for running this thing. As well, thanks to CleveSteve and BatDawg for their work in keeping it going and keeping us up to date. And to Cfrs and whomever else kept the google spreadsheet up to date - with all the trades, it couldn't have been an easy task.

Love what you did for Washington overall. Build up at D-line, get a few CBs out there, get your QB insurance policy and a potential beast of a RB.

Not a fan of what you did with Baltimore, however. I really don't want to play against those guys 2x/year. Why didn't you just draft punters, kickers, and long snappers??? lol.

Seriously though, I think Harris is a great fit and value, Engram as well. I like Bolles a lot too.

Once the draft is over I'll create a new tab and sort the draft by team so we can go in and look what each team got a little easier.

Washington has the potential to have a really impactful draft IF they could just work out a long term deal with Kirk. I would love to get an Edge rusher somewhere early.
