Didn't Hue say he wanted Garrett at #1 overall?

See my post above....If we want a QB we take 'em at #1. No way we trade up for a QB no way. Does not make sense.

Edit: Let me say: Why would we trade assets for move up when all we have to do is take a QB at #1? This FO will not trade assets for a QB.

I'm thinking this is more about a S or CB than anything else.

Yes. Silver is reporting some of those in the FO are the ones on the Trubs train. We shall see I guess, but I still think they take Garrett at 1, and come back and get Trubisky later.

I just don't know how you can draft a player 1 if your coaching staff isn't behind it........especially a QB.

Do the coaches actually want Garrett or is that smoke and mirrors, too?

I don't think anyone had Coleman pegged as our target last draft.

I honestly won't be surprised if they take a safety at 1. Who knows what they are thinking.

www.cbssports.com has two scenario's where the Browns trade up to get QB Mitch Trubisky :

Cleveland Browns trade up to No. 2 overall

The trade: CLE sends No. 12, No. 33, 2018 second-round pick to SF for No. 2.

Why it happens: The Browns want to take Myles Garrett No. 1 overall, but are still thinking about Mitchell Trubisky. They would make this move because they are concerned the Ohio native will be a franchise quarterback, and this franchise has missed on plenty of quarterbacks. There is no guarantee they get him anywhere but No. 2, and San Francisco understands that and is willing to trade down at a discounted price. Giving up three top-75 picks for a quarterback they might be able to get a few picks later in a deal is a lot, but if the Browns want to guarantee they get their quarterback of the future, this is the move. The 49ers need bodies, and picking No. 12 instead of No. 2 isn't that steep a drop in this draft when you consider the additional picks they'll get.

Cleveland Browns trade to No. 5 overall

The trade: CLE sends No. 12, No. 52, No. 108 to TEN for No. 5

Why it happens: This is another avenue to landing Trubisky because the Browns, as you might know, need a quarterback. It makes a lot of sense to believe they will take some of the draft capital they have acquired over the past year or so and trade up in order to get said quarterback. This deal actually seems more realistic: The Titans would like to get out of No. 5 and add picks, and by making this move they would actually get their old second-round pick back. The Browns don't have to give up No. 33 in the deal and they can take Trubisky, although there is obviously more risk in hoping he falls to No. 5.

I hate the idea of trading up. Spending a lot of picks on Trib is a HUGE gamble. Lets just take a really good player at #12 and then gamble later on. Either Webb at the top of the 2nd or one of the lesser guys later in the draft and hope we get lucky. We MUST hit on both of our first round picks this year. If we do trade the sun and the moon to trade up for a QB he BETTER stud out. Anything less than a franchise QB and EVERYONE is fired. Then we get to do this all over again.... If they trade up and fail it's their ass.

Trading up doesn't jibe with everything else the front office has done since they took over. If we trade up I will immediately think Jimmy Haslam pulled rank.

Only in Cleveland could they try for a trade up and risk missing out on someone in the top 10, in a year when they hold the #1 overall pick.

But! Does it really even matter anymore?

Way too much. We should use those picks to help the team.

I believe this is viable value-wise...but not for Mitch.

Cimon man! If you are going to offer all that....call NE or WA and see if they will take it for JG or KC.

Edit: Throw in Brock while you're at it!

Is it me or do all the talking heads out there agree there are no QBs this year worth a top 10 pick. Are the Browns trying to outsmart themselves? I believe there is tons of talent out there after the first 11 players go off the board, outside of QB, that could help the Browns tremendously.

So here is my take... all of the teams want to move down, and the only real concern is the Jets at 6.

The thought of giving up more draft choices in the top 52 is appalling. There is just no way that I pull the trigger on any of this. Trubisky will fall, and there may be a trade up option in the 20-32 range that will fit the team.

There will be an unexpectedly good player available at 12.

1) Garrett
2) Adams
3) Thomas
4) Fournette
5) Allen
6) Lattimore
7) Hooker
8) Howard
9) Barnett
10) Foster
11) Reddick
12) Trubisky

Possible Players that may go based on team need.

1)McCaffery
2)Williams
3)Davis
4)Cook
5)Watson

Cleveland may be fueling the fire as well, you never know what the price is going to be, but the only offensive players that are on the board are Fournette and Howard. When you are last in defense, well, defensive players are what you need. Going with Trubisky at 12 makes some sense, but there is a lot of nonsense as trading away one or two players for Trubisky is just painful for a team with a lot of needs.

Another view. Yes, I'm aware of the source.

Browns called teams today to see if anyone wants to move up to their 12th pick from the back of the draft. They are locked in at one.

It seems like everyone is predicting the Browns will trade up from 12 to get Trubisky. I really hope not. I really want the Browns to stand pat, let the draft come to them.

I hope we either stay at #12 or at worst throw in mid / late picks to move up a slot or 2 to snag Hooker, Adams, Allen or whichever defensive player has slid.

We have so much draft collateral next year where the QB class is much deeper. It makes no sense to chase the rainbow this year unless the staff and FO are sold on whichever QB they covet.

I agree with some of the views on here. If the Browns are even considering trading back up to pick up Trubisky just pick him at #1. Seems absolutely assinine to risk it otherwise. A talented edge rusher will be there at #12 if they pursue that path.

If we trade up, it wont be for Trubiscuit.

My gut is telling me if we get any QB in the first 2 rounds, it's gonna be Kizer. He has every quality that Hue, Sashi, and Berry have been preaching about.

I think they want Watson. Ever since asking him to participate at the Senior Bowl I have felt that they want him.

All this talk of moving up from 12... I'd rather sit tight at 12 and then move up to like 15 from 33 and walk away from the day with picks at 1, 12, & 15.

Me too but most have him going at #4 to Jacksonville and that is too rich. This draft is RB heavy and we should be able to get a quality back in the 2nd. Unless we draft Trib at #1 then I trade up and take Fournette because that kid will NEED a stud back to survive this year.
