Williams will have him playing up to his potential. I like this pick.

3T we needed apparently

DB is deeper than 3-tech, and Ogunjobi seems to be the type of player they are picking.

When the announcers only spend about 13 secons talking about him you know he's a definite head-scratcher

Anyone know anything about him? I'm a little surprised by the position, would have preferred a DB.

yes the Dawgtalkers board mock draft took him at pick 65 round 3.
Stars aligned Browns took him same spot.

I hope he does well, plays 15 years, I hope he helps them beat Pittsburgh.

John Clayton needs to shut up and let the broadcast cast the picks.

Looks like we're really addressing the front 7, especially the line. But that's where it all starts.

Garrett
Shelton
Bryant
Ogbah

With meder, ogun, nassib, cooper rotation.

Not a ton. I know he is inconsistent as hell. I think he is a hard worker, but is weak in the upper body and was handled by guards that got into his body........and most of those guards were not from good college teams.

Not sure why we are not addressing the secondary. I really thought we might get at least 3-5 DBs in this draft.

First player from the Senior Bowl that we've selected. Apparently, they like what they saw.

You can never have enough good players in the secondary, I agree. But in our case, corner isn't one of the bigger issues. Haden, Boddy-Calhoun and Taylor are solid.
Nassib and a couple others will be doing a few more push-ups tonight .lol

Lack of upper body power stands out, letting guards shield him from run lanes. Allows his pads to rise once engaged by blockers. Base strength is an issue and can be moved by angle blocks.

Seems well spoken...but seems more like a workout warrior...Just watched the clip versus Louisville...quickness flashes...but seemed taken out of the play often...but idk never seen the kid play kinda reminds me of Charles Walker whom i wanted late in this years draft.

I'd be okay w/him in the 5th, but there Lewis from K. State is better and there are DBs on the board that are better.

Fair enough, but we worked with him all week at senior bowl. Gotta believe we have a better sense than Brugler. I do agree we need secondary help, but we def needed a DT IMO too. I don't think things ended well between Desmond Bryant and us last year. Wouldn't be surprised if he's gone real soon

Okay guys, I am here to calm you down. I am a Charlotte grad and a UT (Vols) grad as well. I was at every game when UT won the NC in '99, and have seen some elite players roll through that program. I can tell you that Larry Ogunjobi BELONGS. You got a steal - never expected him to slip past the 2nd round (though just barely).

Larry started every single game in Charlotte 49ers history. All time leader in tackles (as NT in a base 3-4!) and tackles for loss. I personally watched other teams begin rolling out their QBs every down because they got tired of him repeatedly collapsing the pocket.

But he is even better against the run. He absolutely stuffs every run that comes his way because he is smart, explosive, thick all over and a maximum effort guy. Saw Temple double team him with two future NFL picks on their OL and he still made plays.

Larry's story is awesome if you don't know it. Fat kid (350 lbs) playing Xbox on his parents couch, til he was taken by a family friend / trainer to his HS football coach and told he will play football. He said no. Couldn't even get down into a football stance at first.

His story since then us one of completely making over his body. If you saw him at the combine, he ran a sub 5.0 sec 40 @ 305 lbs, is extremely fluid and like I said, strong and thick all over.

But that's not the best thing about him. Larry is the absolute highest character guy you could draft. Because of his non coddled background he doesn't take anything for granted. He's humble, relentless in his preparation, and willing to do whatever it takes to succeed.

He was a double major in college (biology and computer science) and he wants to attend med school one day. He scored a 36 on the wonderlic, which IIRC was the highest score of any defensive player.

At Charlotte, he was everything you could ever want in a student athlete. He has been my favorite college player in any sport for years.

Browns fans, you got a special player, and one hell of a competitor and human being. Larry is the best. Don't ever make the mistake of underestimating him, because you'll be sorry you did.

PS I am not his dad/brother/cousin. I swear. wink
