I am curious to hear people who are not Ohio State fans views on Jabril Peppers.
Since I am an OSU fan I will follow my own rules and not put my comment in on the Peppers deal, but I do want to hear others

I am not a non OSU fan, but I am solidly a Gator and SEC fan. I will never root against the Gators, and find it hard to root against a SEC team in a bowl game.
I think Peppers is a good player. A real good player. We are better with him on the team. Bank it.

Penn State fan here. I am thrilled with the pick. He has tremendous versatility on defense and he is a fantastic punt returner.
May even provide "wildcat" value.
He brings energy to the team that it sorely lacks.

UM fan.
Wanted Hooker. Think he's the next Ed Reed.
Maybe the health is a bigger deal than we know.
I'm good with JPep. Probably ganna but his jersey. And I don't buy player jerseys.
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

I hate Ohio State and loathe the attitude of roughly 90% of Buckeye "fans". Having said that, I wanted Hooker at 12 because I think he's great. I have no problem with Peppers because I think he too is great.
I also think if "you" can't root for a player on your NFL team because of where he went to college, "you" should go buy a rope and find a high spot and do the right thing.

I am not a major college Football fan but if I watch College I pull for Ohio State, but living in this state I must say because of the fan base I can totally understand the Buckeye hatred... He's going to be a good player but all the Haters on here can't understand why we draft anyone besides Ohio State players

Agreed with most of the folks here. My 16 year old son was saying in November how much he would like us to take Peppers. Then again in Feb. Then his stock dropped and we thought maybe he would go to Pitt or somebody. He was elated when we chose him.
I think, Buckeye homerism has clouded people's views. I too would have liked Hooker but maybe experience and injuries were too much of a concern.

When I saw Kizer was picked I thought it was going to be shredded in here. I find it interesting that Kizer seems to have more love at 52 than Peppers at 25. Is that because he is from Toledo and Peppers is a Wolverine? Curious.

I despise Ohio State. Mainly because their fans are the most obnoxious in all sports. And, that is saying something because that includes the Steeler fans. I thought he was a great football player and incredible athlete. He flys to the ball and is a sure tackler. Ohio State fans I know loathed him mainly because they cannot take off the scarlet and grey glasses.

I despise Ohio State. Mainly because their fans are the most obnoxious in all sports. You should meet Ducks fans. But, many are bandwagon who somehow forgot how bad they were before Belotti and Kelly. They also walked away last season when the wins disappeared.

I am an Ohio State fan and am not supposed to reply, but this BS about us not liking Peppers because he is from that TUN is just that. We loved Steve Everitt, Thom Darden, LeRoy Hoard, and Aaron Shea. Guys like me want Lewis in the draft. I really liked Taco Charlton, but he is gone.
People are talking out of their butt when they say we don't like Peppers because of who he played for. Some of us just think he is overrated and a guy w/out a position.

I guess it happens everywhere, I went to Ohio U and got sick and tired of people who went to OU and would root against the Bobcats if they played the Buckeyes. Also got upset when OSU sued OU over the use of OHIO...
I liked Hooker, loved his range, but did not like all his missed tackles. I figured we already had too much of that in our defensive backfield. Love Peppers speed and versatility. Feel that Peppers will help a lot.

Michigan fan here. Peppers is a dynamic player and a game changer. So happy the Browns drafted him. Don't let the fact he only had one INT at Michigan bother you. Offenses avoided him like the plague.
He is fast and could play RB or WR now and then. Peppers is more versatile than Hooker. I love that he is a Brown!

I am a Buckeye fan, and proud of it. I despise all things UM. But the thing is, once a player is drafted, I no longer see him as a Wolverine. I mentioned this in another thread - when it comes to the draft I am only concerned with the Browns and who can help them. there have been UM players I want on the Browns, and OSU players I do not. There are far too many Buckeye fans to lump into one category. Everyone who generalizes is ignorant.

I am a fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes..and I'm able to judge football talent without bias.
Peppers was a good pick at #25 and I expect the Browns to utilize his versatility...primarily as a disruptive strong safety but he can also return kicks/punts and can play the RB position on offense as well.
...and he does all of that, very well.
Jabrill Peppers is a member of my Cleveland Browns now..he is one of "us" and I welcome him to Cleveland.

Why did I have a feeling before I created this thread that it would get overrun by OSU fans wanting to defend their dislike of Peppers?
No wonder the rest of college football views us as obnoxious Aholes

yea im an OSU fan but who cares.
Tom Brady came from Michigan, would any of us complain if he had the career he has in NE right here in Cleveland?

I do happen to like OSU cause of many friends who are OSU fans. But I also like Michigan cause I don't have that OSU hate for them.
I really liked Peppers but was fighting too many battles already to get caught up in somebody who I didn't think would be in our slot unless he dropped to 33.
When I read several articles and reports about Williams defensive mind set. I automatically would think of Peppers being a perfect candidate. But I am ashamed cause I didn't stick up for him as many were claiming how over rated he was. Meanwhile I think he is one of the best tacklers in this DRAFT! Gosh forbid we should draft a SS who can Tackle!

I am only speaking of Peppers and the views of him right now, before he has even played a snap for us. Of course if he comes in and is successful people will love him. I also was not saying all OSU fans will dislike or like him based on him playing for scUM. But there is definitely a bias there, it is very obvious. That doesnt mean every single OSU fan is biased, but there is a trend. And it is possible for that bias to exist even if yo give legitimate reasons not to like him. Bias couod possibly make people focus on the negatives, because thats what they want to focus on.

Gc. Had to go back and look, make sure what I was remembering was close to right. The pick reminds me of when Denard Robinson went to the Jaguars in 2013. (rd 5, pick 135) I had thought that was a 1st round pick. kind of a wildcard or slash type of player.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

I disagree there's a bias. And I don't consider a fan of osu, only have to follow it cause from Columbus, it's kind of a smog that hangs over this city 365. I became a more of a fan of the Browns, about 1981, because the pros kept players around more than 4 years and college teams didn't. who knew . About the only Mich. player I didn't want on the Browns was that Heisman pose player, because of his arrogance, and maybe their now coach. ( But I could realize their abilities) And. Amarah Darboh is, was, the #1 wideout I wanted the Browns to draft this offseason, over any others. And I loved Braylon Edwards, whom I didn't even remember went to Mich. until I was looking back at their websight a few minutes ago.

I'm a Buckeye fan, but the Wolverine below is one of my all-time favorite Browns: Not only was he a damn good Center, he also - figuratively speaking - flipped off Modell, Tagliabue, and the entire NFL for all us after the move.

I was just trying to get a view from people who had no emotional attachment to the rivalry.
Instead, it turned into a bunch of OSU fans denying their bias.

I have general positive feelings towards Ohio State, but I do not bleed scarlet and gray.
I like the pick. From what I recall Peppers was used everywhere, but probably will be a stong safety in the NFL and will cover backs out of the backfield on third down.
Now Peppers plays with a bit of attitude, and that probably grates some so I figured he would be a Pittsburgh type player... so much,
I see Williams pounding the table for him.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!

I'm a HUGE Buckeye fan!
I look for talent that can help our Browns in the draft. I really don't care what school they went to. And I don't consider Peppers a negative, but a positive.
For you see, it's not NCAA coaches job to get a player ready for the NFL. Their job is to win games in the NCAA. Much like how the vast majority of colleges use the spread O. It makes those QB's much harder to scout and predict their NFL success. The same could be said with Peppers.
Harbaugh used him in different positions because he is so talented. It wasn't his job to make him a polished safety. I believe any time you can add a kid to your team with that much ability, you just made your team better.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Since I am an OSU fan I will follow my own rules and not put my comment in on the Peppers deal, but I do want to hear others I'm a Buckeye fan and I'm ok with the pick. I probably would have rather had Hooker at 12, versus Peppers and Njoku, and that has nothing to do with college. I just really don't think players like Hooker come around that much. Ball skills, size, athleticism, and sideline to sideline speed. I love his returning skills. I think that fills a huge empty space that we have had. I also like that we can probably use him in nickel. Hopefully with an improved pass rush (Garrett, plus Bryant coming back from injury) that someone with that kind of athleticism can fit in. I don't know about where he could be beyond that. I don't know if he's truly a great starter at safety. He's a great athlete with a lot of potential. I don't care where he went to school. I want to be a good team, and if he makes us better, great. I really think the media plays that Ohio State/Michigan crap up way too much. Fans LOVED Steve Everitt. Nobody had an issue with Braylon Edwards until he became a crap teammate and a guy who was way too full of himself. The people who cover this team are an absolute mockery of the profession. They act like we'd turn Tom Brady away because he played for UM. How about you do your job, and stop retweeting the national people who keep beating you to every scoop?
