Carrasco was lights out.
Yan Gomes is finally heating up? Over the past 14 games, is hitting .378 with a .478 on-base percentage (courtesy of TJ Zuppe).
He was a good hitter a few years back, but then fell off badly. It would be Huuuuge if his bat would resurface for the whole season.

No posts about today's game? Carrasco pitched like a #1 today. The Indians win 6-0. Good stuff. Carrasco has been pitching pretty good. Tonight was no different. Yan Gomes too, nice!

The Tribe is scoring the second fewest runs per nine innings in the AL. Tribe opponents are scoring the fewest.

Gomes starting to hit is fantastic - I hope he can keep it up. They said something else during last nights game that we have played the most away games to this point in the league. Hopefully when that balances out we'll start scoring more.

We've been wasting great pitching performances it seems. Especially with Carrasco.

Tomlin has given up 2 runs in 15 innings !!!!!! He may not throw at the velocity others do, but man can he work the corners and etc. I'm looking forward to seeing Clevinger today. Hopefully he continues his lil' positive streak too.

the one thing that worries about the team this year is how horrible Encarnacion has been. I mean we got more out of swisher and bourne, and those were considered the worst FA signings in team history. But my worry is this will make the FO leery of trading and signing future potential impact players...I can't say I'd blame them, they got Napoli off the heap and he was 100x better than EE has been. I know he historically starts slow, but May is usually when he starts coming round, so come June 1, I think it will be time to be officially concerned. But more to my concerns this year is all the injuries so far, I know Tito likes to run his pitchers into the ground but we're getting injuries to alot of field players. Hopefully this is just a phase while they adjust to playing again and come summer we go on a run like last year.. The games haven't been as enjoyable this year...kinda meh..Yet we are still only a game back..It seems alot of teams are struggling this season in the early going. Except Houston who's been pretty impressive.

No problem.
It’s just too cold.
I’ve noticed Francona’s teams always play their best In September. When it’s often still 80 degrees at 7 pm.
Wait until it’s 85 degrees every day. I'm sure the Tribe bats will heat up.

I have really had a hard time watching these guys at the plate .. Santana is coming along fine for this time of the year , Lindor is an undisciplined wild man at the dish right now , Brantley is fine , Eddie E hasn't even shown up yet , Jose is in a bit of a funk right now , Kip just isn't seeing the ball ( way ahead on his swings )Lonnie is as streaky as ever , Gomes is starting to show a little life and rest , Meh !

Despite Encarnacion's slow start, I'm still confident he'll come around. He's too good not to. The guys concerning me are Lindor and Ramirez. They kick-started the offense last year, but this year they seem to have started believing they're HR hitters, at the expense of their overall game. Lindor averaged a HR every 40 AB last year; this year its a HR every 17 AB, while his BA has gone from .301 to .273. Ramirez homered every 50 AB last year; this year its every 21 AB, and his average went from .312 to .281. The stolen base has all but disappeared from both of their games. IMO, the Indians' offense is much less dynamic because of these two guys swinging for the fences.
With that said, I really think the Indians' Achilles heel is their starting pitching. In reality we only have two starters I have any confidence in, Kluber and Carrasco, and Kluber has a bad back. Salazar was always the guy they needed to get over the hump, and he just seems to regress more every year. Way too many baserunners for a guy with his stuff - his WHIP is 1.57 - and he has developed the habit of giving up the long ball with men on base. Tomlin - flip a coin when he takes the mound, and ditto Bauer, who is the embodiment of hit-or-miss. Luckily, the bullpen is world-class, but they are going to burn out if we keep getting only 4 innings from starters. Long story short, I think the Indians need use some of their top prospects and someone from the major league roster (Kipnis?/Salazar?/Allen?) to trade for a top of the rotation starter.

I was hoping they would shop Bauer in the last off season. Salazar is a situation that has to drive Micky nuts .. I'm still a Tomlin Fan ! We have a couple of kids in Columbus we can look at also .. My worry is still at the Plate !

never liked salazar or bauer, i don't think either have big league stuff..both are BP arms. I've said before i think salazar would make a decent setup/closer. I'm with you on Lindor/jram...i think becuase they had some early success with the long ball they are letting that get them off their plate discipline...we are a bad team right now, but we know what they are capable of, time for Tito to shine

LOL, as if he read my earlier post, Lindor bunt-singles in his first AB and then steals 2nd. Tito changed up the line-up today - Kipnis leading off, Santana to the 5-hole, and Ramirez drops to 6th. Kipnis homered in his first AB at leadoff.

Kipnis single homer and then Lonnie with a two run homer.

Right about now Francona’s saying: “DO’H”Think Kipnis will be batting lead-off tomorrow? never understood the santana as leadoff...you need speed there and quick bat...not a slug/strikeout guy.. not that kip is probably the best choice, but def. better than santana there...santana needs to be further down to protect more hitters

Get on base creates a better chance at scoring runs. Santana gets on base a lot.

Alright so the change up with Kipnis proved to be awesome. That offense was fun to watch!
We destroyed those left hand pitchers.

j/c.... Nice win last night, even though the pitching wasn't there. My youngest son got Lindor, Brantley and Almonte's autograph so he was pretty excited. Zimmer just got promoted..... Jordan Bastian Verified account @MLBastian Bradley Zimmer, come on down. Indians promote their top prospect from Triple-A Columbus. Had 1.008 OPS past 20 games with Clippers. Tweet

Hey! Maybe this is the start of a Hall of Fame Career.
FYI, Zimmer's a behemoth.
Well, 6'5", 220 lbs and very fast.
Can't wait to see how he handles this "cup of coffee".

I'll bet the Naquin issue is mental or behavioral.
He did hit .296 and 14 homers in only 321 ABs last year at Cleveland.
If it was as simple as a type of pitch, opposing teams would have figured that out much quicker.
I bet it was something like Francona told him to work on an aspect of his game over the winter and Naquin didn't.
(like maybe taking the high fastball)

I think that is the issue with this call up. Zimmer is tremendous in the centerfield (supposedly). Naquin is poor in center and adequate in right.
Is buttcheeks one word? Or should I spread them apart?
