Really? You just don't get it. You can't get a ticket for stopping at a stop sign then turning right. There is no law for that hence no violation. If you back up dangerously into traffic or otherwise you can be sited for illegal backing. Are you really this dense? I didn't think so until just now.

There is zero evidence she was looking at her phone. Therefore you are making it up. Sorry I missed this, Donald J., but I was referring to versatile's post about texting/cell phones. I didn't make that clear, my bad.

Wow, man, you really don't follow along, do you? Do yourself a favor before you become a laughingstock on here: Go back and read what I wrote. Or, let me break it down for you. There is no law that says you can't back onto a road or street. AS LONG AS YOU DO IT SAFELY. If you don't do it safely, there's a penalty. There is no law that says you can't turn right after making stop, AS LONG AS YOU DO IT SAFELY. If you don't, there's a penalty. Reading comprehension should trump dislike of a poster that posts facts. It really should. But, continue on with ignorance if you must.

There is no law that says you can't back onto a road or street. AS LONG AS YOU DO IT SAFELY. Yes there is. And you can actually backup safely and still get a moving violation if the police deems it illegal backing. You should really stick to what you know. What is that today?

Who cares? Both of them are dead. What good does it do to assign blame now?

Agreed.
But I care because perfect has no reading comprehension and his failed attempts at calling me out suck.
Dense is one thing. Ignorant, another. Simply reading? That should be simple. But, I understand. If I said rain was wet, he'd argue with me.

Says the guy who started the disagreement on this law. Wow...........for the last time, there is NO LAW against backing onto a road or street. NONE. There is a law about doing it safely. Just as there is no law about turning right. There is a law about doing it safely. Dude, you should be embarrassed about yourself.

Ask any cop they'll set you straight. I'm done.

Ask any cop they'll set you straight. I'm done. It must be tough living in a world you don't understand. Here's your quote: Yes there is. And it's pretty much the same in all states.
Louisiana Laws Revised Statutes TITLE 32 — Motor vehicles and traffic regulation RS 32:281 — Limitations on backing
Universal Citation: LA Rev Stat § 32:281 SUBPART L. MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS
§281. Limitations on backing
A. The driver of a vehicle shall not back the same unless such movement can be made with reasonable safety and without interfering with other traffic. Period. End of discussion. Not only can you not understand or comprehend my posts, you can't even understand that the law says "with reasonable safety". There is NO law that states backing onto a road is illegal. None. Dude, haven't you shown enough ignorance of the written word yet?

Knowing how hard Micheals sisters, and the rest of the family are taking this. My heart still really goes out to them more than the other womans family. Sorry but I have no clue who she is. Even though I feel bad for her and her family. My emotions are much stronger for those I knew.

"There is NO law that states backing onto a road is illegal. None." If you back up into oncoming traffic it is. You are just wrong. So shut up In most states...If you back illegally and get caught you get a citation from the police officer with the moving infraction called "Illegal Backing" Illegal backing is a moving vehicle violation. For illegal backing, individuals are typically given 3 demerit points per offense. http://www.trafficviolationlawfirms.com/...ffic-points.htm

So shut up Do you just argue for the sake of arguing and insulting people? He said three times there is specifically no law that says backing onto a roadway (in any form) is illegal. And each time, you changed what he said to "backing into oncoming traffic" and told him he was wrong. Illegal backing for the most part means, you cannot backup and block traffic or hit anything. You can still BACK UP, which arch has been trying to tell you. If you ever got a ticket for backing up onto an empty road, you should of taken it to court and got it tossed ... or moved to a state that's not run like North Korea. In this case, I don't know where the law falls. She backed up and hit something, which technically falls into the "illegal backing" category, but the vehicle she hit was also operating at an illegal speed.

My last written traffic citation was for "improper backing".
I had previously pulled into and parked in my narrow, little driveway where I lived at the time.
The only way out was to back out to the street (it was a 20 MPH speed limit).
Some jerk hit me from behind just as I had backed out into the street. (he obviously wasn't paying attention - probably texting)
He then gets out of his car, ignores me, and calls the cops.
We both got ticketed. But mine was only a warning.
He got an old fashioned speeding and driving left of center ticket.

I know what he was trying to say but was failing to acknowledge the law at all. I understand and know the law. What is so difficult to understand about the law I posted here? Or maybe you didn't read the law either? Eve made a statement that there are no laws about backing out of a parking spot. I said yes there are laws on illegal backing and posted the law here. Arch decided to twist the law and state limitations, and scenarios. Sure the law has limitations like any other law but it's a law. A law is a law. End of story
