Wow ... so sad ... its one thing to get an old man like me ... but it really tugs at your heart when there that young ..

I am surprised that some of U are shocked they'd go after kids ... its absolutely horrible but for me not unexpected .. theres nothing beneath these people ... they've proven that multiple times ..

- slicing peoples throats on live feeds ..
- executing people on live feeds ..
- they took people out to sea ...put them in a huge steel cage and using a Crain they drown them on a live feed i believe (they may have just recorded that one)
- there's mass graves of women and children in pretty much every place they've occupied in the Middle East ..

I'm not sure there's any level they could stoop to that would shock me ...

Targeting innocent people (let alone kids) is about as cowardly as it gets

This stuff has always bothered me but the way it bothers me keeps getting worse and this one particularly. Not sure if it's because I have a 13 year old daughter who very well could have been at an event like this or if I'm just getting older and am really getting sick of this crap.

My deepest prayers go to the people affected.

This is yet more crushing news. So sad to hear about this last night.

I'll be in Europe next week and the following week with my niece, these events make me a little nervous.

Unfortunately, terrorists want to hurt as many people as possible, in as many ways as possible.

How better to hurt people than by killing their children?

These people aren't going away, and they're not voting to end things are they? No, they're not.

The hard part is, they don't line up across a battlefield from you. If they did, we'd be through with this problem by lunch.

We aren't going to win against these people permanently unless we break their will, make sure that they are defeated so completely that those who would follow in their footsteps wouldn't even think about doing so because the defeat would be so brutal, fear will dominate their conversation for generations.

That all sounds good, if we were going against traditional soldiers.

I know, I hate to say it, but this is how global totalitarianism is going to get approved. No one will be able to go anywhere without something tracking them.
If you leave the country to get radicalized, someone will know where you went, how long you were there and why you were there.

If "success" is strapping a bomb to your torso and blowing yourself and as many civilians as you can to smithereens... how does one make "defeat" more brutal than that... or cause them to "fear" anything?

I have no idea, only thing I can think of is that these people find glory in what they're doing.
They have to be humiliated. I'm not in the mood to wait until one of them shows up at another event to do something this sick again.

a lot of you guys don't want to hear it (obviously, since i've said this over and over again), but Bush and Obama had the right strategy:

you can't just bomb an ideology away. you have to use strategic strikes in conjunction with nation building.

and has and always been the only way this will ever work. Hearts and minds, folks. hearts and minds.

That's what many miss in all of this. You can defeat an army or a nation. You can't defeat an idea or belief. Defeating ISIS troops in the middle east won't stop that idea and isolated events from the ISIS idealists from happening.

And just where has Nation Building gotten us as of late . The last time it worked was the Marshal Plan ! You want the American service man/woman to put their life on the line and then the American taxpayer to fund it ???

Ummm, if American troops are anywhere, it's already funded by tax payers.

What I'm saying is be smart. We can't just bomb our way through this.

War of ideas always lead to the bloodiest wars. I think there have been some 370,000 plus people killed in the middle east from wars against the USA directly and over 1 million indirectly(http://watson.brown.edu/costsofwar/). They are not going to feel bad they killed 22 people at a concert.
