Point being, he was not an immigrant. He would not have been stopped himself by looking at immigrants who entered the country.

What would have worked on him would have been looking at people who visited terrorist nations. Actually my point is that ISIS is an idea, not a nationality. Homegrown terrorists are just as dangerous if not more so than illegals entering your borders.

I've actually stood beside you in the view that illegal immigration is a threat to jobs, terrorism and does not allow for a nation to be sovereign. So while we do agree on the illegal immigration topic, that in and of itself is not enough. In this case, if you only focus on illegal immigrants, you never investigate or find out abut a terrorist who is actually a citizen of your own country.

So I'm not advocating that illegal immigration is okay, I'm saying that other avenues need to be explored in rooting out terrorists.

His parents were refugees from Libya.. he had travelled to Libya and it is believed he also travelled to Syria... at least 5 other people have been arrested in connection with it. He had been reported to authorities several years ago for comments he made in college about terrorism and suicide bombings...

Open borders may have influenced him some, a lot, or not at all.. but it's too early to definitively say it had NOTHING to do with it.

According to the BBC, there are two reasons UK remains at an elevated alert level.. one is the size of the network he was working within continues to grow so they aren't sure who else is involved. The other reason is that there are 350-400 people in the UK who travelled to Syria recently, spent considerable time there, then came back to the UK...
