Nice tune up for GS, looks like we're clicking on all cylinders just in time.
Also a great humble post game presser from LeBron deflecting the questions of how he compares to Jordan.

Hypothetically, what do our matchups look like?
Kyrie - Curry JR - Thompson Lebron - Durant Love - Green Thompson - Pachulia
Bring in Shump a lot more this series IMO. He's a good matchup for us against the guards.

I really want to believe we will win this series, but theres just too much talent on GS and they play defense, we don't play defense at all and all the missed jumpers Boston had won't be the case with GS, Plus they have better matchups off the bench. I hope I'm wrong but I got GS in 5. It doesn't really matter, we won one, and we're playing for the chance at another, can't really ask for more than that if you're a fan, repeats are hard. GS adding Durant really made it uneven, the only equalizer is Mike Brown as a coach, if we can put the game on him and make him make adjustments, they will be toast. I don't expect any blowout games, i think they will all be hard fought, alot of hard fouls and trash talking.

Refs could be huge and hurt either team. Play this in the paint more and force some fouls. Seen too many leads disappear when we go for quick threes and showboat passes. I would take a hard look at every lousy run we allowed and see why it happened. They move a bunch more on O than we do.
I think the Cavs might do it, but not with the lazy D, the dumb 3, and such

I feel like every game in this series could be close, or a blowout either way...
I just wish my brother would stop trying to tell me how the Cavs have "no excuses to lose" because of all the good players on their bench vs. GS's
It started after we signed DWill and Bogut.
Accoriding to him, adding veteran bench players > a former MVP.
"They swapped out Barnes for KD, what's your point?"
Sigh. I apparently have none.

Hey lead. I really missed reading your 20+ posts like when we actually lost a game.
So, what do you think of how the Cavs handled Boston? What about how they won all 3 games on Boston's court? What about Lue's rotations? Did they kill us in this last game? Heck, for that matter.........were the rotations any different in any of the games? If not, why did you go off about them in the loss and not say anything when we won?
I'm curious to hear your educated takes on all of these questions, lead.

So, just some thought on the finals series:
- the health of Zaza. He said he'll be fine to play in the finals, but with a bruise heel, one has to wonder how effective he will be, as well as the chance of him re-aggrivating the injury. He's already not that good, and TT would eat McGee alive, especially on the boards.
- does Kevin love and draymond green cancel each other out?
- does okay Thompson finally get some sort of rhythm? He's been the odd man out in the playoffs, shooting something like 33% percent from the field.
- I think kyrie continues to put Curry on ice skates. However, since curry will be fully healthy, I wonder how effective kyrie's defense will be on him this year. (I understand that none of these guys will be guarding one on one all the time, but these are the primary matchups to look for)
- does Lebron continue to whoop on Durant?
And my biggest thought is this: coaching.
It looks like Kerr won't be able to coach the finals. Which means mike brown is gonna actually have to coach. And I think this is an underrated issue very few people are talking about.

Nice post, Swish. I'll give my opinion on some of your thoughts. Again, it's just opinion.
I think ZaZa has less of a chance of defending TT than McGee does. TT is too quick for him. I have always despised ZaZa. He's a jerk and a dirty player. He might hurt us at times on the offensive boards because TT will be on the perimeter challenging 3-pointers.
- does Kevin love and draymond green cancel each other out?
I don't think they will eve cover one another, but I could be wrong. We do need Love to hit 3's, exploit match-ups in the paint, and defensive rebound. Both guys are excellent players, but again, I don't think they cover one another.
- does okay Thompson finally get some sort of rhythm? He's been the odd man out in the playoffs, shooting something like 33% percent from the field.
Yeah, this is huge. If he gets hot, we could be in trouble. If not, we can use TT to take away Curry's and Durant's easy threes. This is a big key in the series. I have no way of predicting what he will do.
- I think kyrie continues to put Curry on ice skates. However, since curry will be fully healthy, I wonder how effective kyrie's defense will be on him this year. (I understand that none of these guys will be guarding one on one all the time, but these are the primary matchups to look for)
I think Klay guards Kyrie most of the time and that JR guards Curry most of the time.
- does Lebron continue to whoop on Durant?
LeBron will probably do his thing, but Durant is going to do his thing, too. I actually expect to see more of RG in this series to cover Durant. I would put LeBron on Green.
And my biggest thought is this: coaching.
It looks like Kerr won't be able to coach the finals. Which means mike brown is gonna actually have to coach. And I think this is an underrated issue very few people are talking about.
It's a players game at this level. Ever listen to the huddle talks? LMAO.........NBA coaches suck. The coaches are important because of when they call timeouts and how they handle match-ups in each rotation. I think it's a wash. But, we'll see.

Yea I agree, how Klay plays could determine who wins this series.
Also, if I'm Tyrone lue, every time McGee comes on the floor, I'm sending Frye out there. I think we have the advantage because we can get this bigs into foul trouble early and often.
And that's why I don't know if lue vs brown is a wash. I think lue has a ways to go before becoming an elite coach, but I think he's still better than brown. The lineups with the bench players is gonna be key.

I'll be honest. I was worried when we brought him in.
Thought he might try to "take over" and win games by himself. "Redeem his career" if you will. But he slid into the bench perfectly.
Glad I was wrong.

Word. I felt the same about Korver.
Glad that worked out as well, cause the Dunlevey signing turned out wrong.

Glad that worked out as well, cause the Dunlevey signing turned out wrong. Korver has been horrid in the playoffs for the most part, particularly the boston series, on both ends...it would have been fine if we signed him off a buy out but we gave up a first for him...not as bad as the mosgov trade, but we give away firsts like candy canes at xmas. If anyone is counting on our bench providing much against GS they will be disappointed.,,Lue parking our 4th leading scorer on the bench for a majority of the playoffs was asinine. Frye for all his limitations on defense has to get decent minutes because GS is bigger than we are. He's got to play. The bench is my biggest concern. Starting 5 vs Starting 5 will be back and forth, but adding durant tilts it in their favor. I think the key players for us this series are going to be Love and TT, they have to grab rebounds and control the paint on defense. I hope TT continues his hot FT shooting, he struggled the last two games rebounding the ball, I hope he gets back to it because that's the most important thing he does for us. If we get the Boston series Love the series could get interesting, but I still think barring any major injuries, GS handles us pretty easy..I'll be curious to see Lue's gameplan game one, hopefully it makes Mike Brown make adjustments, if he does, then all that is out the window. All we can hope for is durant and Curry to choke in the big games like they normally do and our big 3 just do their thing.

You have no clue how the draft and the cap work in the NBA.
You keep worrying about the future when the reality of the situation is that it's all about NOW.

i disagree bro.
I think korver has been excellent in the playoffs.
why? cause everytime Boston let him even get a little bit of space, Lebron found him for wide open 3's. sure, he's missed a bit more than normal, but Korver's biggest asset to the team is that he's a THREAT, and as such, teams HAVE to put a body on him wherever he's positioned at on the court.
and that right there is a big reason why lebron has been able to do whatever the hell he pleases when it comes to driving to the paint and doing kick outs when he's rolling with the second unit.
and then this lineup: Lebron, Korver, Love, Deron, Kyrie. that lineup has been absolutely killing folks on the offensive end. defensively korver has never been good, but he's good enough, and that's all that matters. he isn't a liability, at least no more than love is.
Boston had to keep a body on Korver the ENTIRE time, which also means no defensive help on lebron.
especially when GS has to play their bench, that's gonna be key, because you can't send help defensively on lebron with Korver on the court, at least not on a consistent basis.
IMO, of course.

I agree with Swish here. He might not of been as killer from 3-point land as he normally is, but he has to be accounted for. That opens up the lane for Lebron which makes the offense deadly. There's a reason he's been a major part of that killer-B-squad line up that tore through Indiana (D-Will, Korver, Lebron, Shump, TT/Love). That unit is going to be key against GS. They don't have much of a bench. If those guys are tearing it up when GS rests some of their guys, we'll be in good shape. Remember that first Series against them when we had a 6-man rotation? Steve Kerr just used his bench and ran our guys out. it would have been fine if we signed him off a buy out but we gave up a first for him...not as bad as the mosgov trade, but we give away firsts like candy canes at xmas. You give WAY too much value to late-first round picks. Picks in the 20-30 range in the NBA draft are equivalent to 3rd round picks in the NFL, if that. Besides, everything is all about winning now. Who in the draft would of helped us past the 20th pick? Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot and Skal Labissière were the two guys drafted with the picks that we gave up for Mozgov. You really want them over Mozgov? Our pick the year before could of been Tyus Jones (3.8 PPG), but we traded down a few spots to take Cedi Osman, who hasn't even played in the NBA yet. These guys aren't helping us any more than Kay Felder.

Good posts by you and Swish.
I didn't like the move to get Korver, but I was totally wrong. As you guys said, he really opens up the floor for other players. He is also a way better defender than I imagined. He is actually a very good team defender.
Yeah, the draft isn't real important right now for the Cavs. We have a team that contend. Getting guys like Korver, DWill, and even Bogut [had he not gotten hurt] is way more helpful that worrying about draft picks.
The window to win is now.
And I think Griffin is doing an excellent job. I questioned some of his moves, but I've learned to just shut-up and watch him work his magic. The guy is amazing. Of course, it helps that Gilbert has deep pockets. LOL
