Kathy Griffin 'beheads' Trump in photo many call 'unacceptable,' 'tasteless'

Kathy Griffin landed in hot water over a controversial photoshoot.



Kathy Griffin, who has never been shy about provoking people with her comedy, has really done it this time: She had herself photographed holding a mock "decapitated" head of Donald Trump.

Griffin's many critics, on the right and the left, responded with outraged tweets mentioning these sorts of sentiments: She's "pure evil!" She's a "dumb idiot!" She's "not funny!"

Now the U.S. Secret Service says it's looking into what she's calling an expression of art.

My humor can be pretty irreverent at times, but even I have lines I don't like to see crossed.

This was beyond my boundaries for sure.

She went way too far as she often does.

But calls to have her investigates by the secret service and put on the terrorist watchlist are going just as far in the opposite direction. This is still not an excuse for her actions.

That lady ain't ever been funny. I'm not even gonna watch that. She's just tryin' to keep an irrelevant career bringing in enough money so she doesn't have to get a real job.

Fairly certain the secret service investigates any threat to the president - any president - any threat, real or perceived.

if she pays taxes with that money, isn't that a real job?

So now comedians are fair game like journalists? They are doing the jobs but if conservative feelings get hurt "we need to punish those big meanies"... whatever.

Even though I think she went to far, she is a comedian and most humor comes from pain and darkness. She overreached with her art (it is art rather you appreciate it or not), she didn't threaten him at all. #TrumpFlakes

i never seen a thread complaining about the way obama was portrayed, however. Fish certainly never made a post about the way some had obama, and i've been interacting with him since 2006.

all that does is tell us that it's not about the disgusting, tasteless images of presidents, but WHICH president it's happening to.

i made sure my first post in this thread was a negative reaction, because it should be for all americans. But OCD is right about there being selective outrage, cause i didn't see any conservatives on the old board or this one who condemn those disgusting images of obama while they were actively happening.

First of all, lack of condemnation of an image in no way constitutes racism. Me and a guy on the old board named DADieken (a liberal) talked about those images a bit, the main one being Obama being portrayed as the joker from that second batman movie and I brought up Gary Trudeau (Doonesbury comic strip) portraying Bush as some small minded dunce with huge ears and we both agreed it was in bad taste.

But just because someone doesn't actively post a picture that belittles the president and then make a post condemning it doesn't mean they're somehow in agreement with it.

Hell, we're mostly middle aged to elderly men here. Grown ups don't get on line looking for that kind of thing. I'd never seen any of the pictures that OCD just posted.

If Kathy Griffin didn't have the notoriety she does, I doubt anyone would've seen the image of her doing what she did either.

i didn't say it constitutes racism, but if someone is silent about one and speaks out against the other, even though it's both disgusting images of a US president, then it shows that at the very least, someone isn't bothered by the racist images of a president.

based on it's own individual merit, of course these photo's of trump being beheaded is disgusting. but in the big picture....why should i care if Fish never spoke out against the disgusting images of obama when it was actively going on?

Look at my post count since 2006, not many posts about Obama good or bad. On the old board, I never saw any of those images that OCD posted. For one thing, those refs on that board would never allow it and there was a strict image size requirement that the mods adhered to. You know that! There are posters on this board that were refs on the original board that can vouch for those rules if they would.

I hadn't noticed any meme being from 4chan, only been on that site a few times in my life. It was started by a 12 year old I think but quickly become a hacker and anarchist site. I'm into the hacking a bit but not the anarchy, and the closest I come to arguing with 12 year old boys is putting up with you.

FYI, I source most of my memes on FB or Google images (which scrapes them from all over the web) and only when I need to lower the language bar to the level of the conversation.

And those who claim this was going too far are right. I do wish they would have been this vocal when Obama was treated very much the same way, but it doesn't change how disgusting and wrong this was.

The difference is that she is a spokesman-woman on the national level and was highly accepted by the party leaders and the mainstream media that's what gave her the platform to do such a thing. I have never seen any of those images of Obama or his wife[ which appalled me]Did they come from a highly accepted spokesman for the mainstream party offictals or mainstream conservative media

I was making fun of the fact that you think Kathy Griffin is a "spokesman-woman" for "liberals" the "mainstream media" and was "given a platform" to do so. When no such things existed. When being disgusted about such things, maybe we should be disgusted no matter who does it.

And unlike Kathy Griffin, Ted Nugent has met a President and even been invited to the White House.

Which I think is the relevant point in all of this... it has been made public because she is somewhat of a celebrity.... If dems are going to ride with their celeb supporters and post the cool rants by Colbert and the jokes by Fallon and Martha Stewart flipping off a poster of Trump, etc... if you are going to ride with the celebs, then you have to ride with them when they go too far.

I don't care what some Mississippi backwoods person said about Obama or Trump, good or bad.. I don't care what some inner city nobody says about them, good or bad... but you can't showcase the celebs when it's good or funny then distance from it when it's bad... and this is bad.
