I don't think it was stupid at all. What is stupid is not having an open mind and trying to act like one side is good and the other bad. Which, if you've been reading is exactly what I've been saying. This thread is about the "actions of Kathy Griffen". So if you're going to put such actions under a microscope, it's only fair to point to both sides and not isolate it to one side. Looking at Griffen without including what Nugent did is the perfect definition of being closed minded. I was always a Dem. I was always a liberal. Hated the conservatives always bashing the liberals.
But now..........the dems and liberals are the attackers. They whine and complain about everything. They are not a likeable bunch. You mean like "Boo hoo look what Kathy Griffen did", but let's not mention Ted Nugent? That kind of whining? Heck, you can't even read about a news story any more without having the immediate "let's see how Twitter responded" article.

While I do agree with you a lot of that is about perception. I believe that often times you are correct in a lot of cases. However, I see a difference sometimes.
On one hand, if the "well they did it too" is used to excuse terrible actions of someone, then your point is perfectly on valid.
On the other hand, if it's used to say both were wrong equally, I believe that it's simply pointing out that neither should be excused and that both are equally as guilty.
And even though Vers is pretending he doesn't get it, that's what I've been doing. I'm not trying to say that we should deflect from what Kathy Griffrn did. It was terrible. I'm saying maybe we should recognize this is the state of politics today and that possibly everyone should look in the mirror.

And yes, I wish people could look at something like this and think in terms of "Person X did this (or said this) to Person Y" do you think it's right or wrong? And do that without knowledge of the political policies (race, gender, other things which help our preconceived notions) of X and Y.. do it anonymously in a vacuum... Make the determination that is horribly wrong, then find out who said it about whom... if it turns out somebody you like said it, then deal with that. I'm not trying to say that we should deflect from what Kathy Griffrn did. It was terrible. I'm saying maybe we should recognize this is the state of politics today and that possibly everyone should look in the mirror. It has been the state of politics for forever. The nature of those in power (and those who support them) hasn't changed since Julius Caesar and it probably never will... we the people need to be better, but I'm not putting a lot of hope in that either.
