Wow, I thought we'd be lucky to get six wins this year.

if we get average QB play this year, and the chips fall in our favor...well

8-8 I think it's a tad lofty, but yup I'm going with it at least for now.

laugh if ya want ta lol.

With no clear cut starter at QB now....a very unproven WR core and a defense still learning under a DC.....
I see a 2-14 team
I guess 3 and 13 last year had wasn't too far off.
I see a offense that will have a hard time putting up over 21 pts a game
And the offense falls behind by 10 plus forget about it..
I do see alot of close games but this team is still leaning how to merely compete for 4 quarters

Imo we have the talent for 11-5 but they'll need time to grow and gel.

If somehow Kessler emerges, Kizer is a rookie phenom or Osweiler is most improved player of the year, that could have us competing at a high level this year even, but that's a dream.

Thats about the best I have to offer as well.

I'd also like to put an asterisk on the win some* as some could mean only one. lol.

Some of those wins strike me as generous.

I see some splits in our division for a change as possible if we get some scoring. I am thinking 6-10. Hard to know sight unseen.

8 &8 would be great.
Fingers crossed!

PS I am fully willing to shocked and astounded by sneaking into the playoffs any way possible.

It's early yet and the further away games on Sunday are the easier it is to feel more positive !! As others have said it might be a long season. Personally I don't see how we could not win 3 games. We could have easily won 3 games last year and the team was worse off for talent and 40% of the OL was injured and 20% of the OL was hot garbage, by week 3 we were onto a rookie QB who hadn't practiced with the 1st team all preseason.

In my most generous mode, I'm going with splits against the Rats & Stoolers, and wins against the Colts, Jets & Chicago. So 5-11. That would be much better than expected, IMHO. If we get swept in the division, maybe the D can help us get a couple other wins like SD & Jags. In a miraculous season, we'd win all seven of those games. To get to 5-11, we have to have decent QB play, and everyone must stay healthy.

On another thread, I researched all the teams that won less than 3 games in the last 10 years. I think there were only 16. So, it's hard to win less than 3.

I'm thinking we win 3 or 4 this year. I'm leaning towards 4.

I am not as optimistic as most folks for the following reasons:

--The NFL has become a passing league. We all know this.

--The Browns do not have a proven starter at qb. And, we all know that qb is the most important position on the field. You following?

--Our WRs are at best unproven and more than likely one of the worst units in the entire NFL, if not the worst.

--Time to throw in the reminder that the NFL is a passing league.

--Finally, our secondary is putrid. We don't have a true cover corner. Our corners are slow. Our safeties are not good in coverage.

I think the Browns are making some positive strides, but being weak in the above areas in a passing league does not bode well for us having a good record.

It is my hope that more people come to that realization and do not start screaming for people to be fired once reality sets in.

our QB/WR play is just not to an NFL level IMO ... it's such a glaring hole that the other areas of our game have to be near perfect to win games.

I do think our OL and defense will be improved (and we do have some winnable games ... Cincy x2, Jets, Chargers, etc) ... but I can't see us getting more than 4

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

This is an unknown, I think. We have yet to see what it looks like with, say, a healthy Haden, and Boddy-Calhoun, McCourty, Peppers & Pryor on the field, under the new system, with a better pass rush. Just a big unknown, IMO, so I'm not sure we can call them "putrid" quite yet.

As far as being slow, I'm not sure about that either. Their 40 times seem about average to me, though the older guys like Haden, McCourty & Pryor may have lost a step but likely have gained experience/positioning. So again, we need to see them on the field, healthy and under the new system before judging that as well, IMHO.

McCourty 4.3-4-4, Boddy-Calhoun 4.4-4.5, Haden 4.5-4.6, Peppers 4.5-4.6, Reynolds 4.5-4.6, Pryor 4.5-4.6

A healthy Haden is a pretty decent cover corner. Boddy-Calhoun is coming along, and McCourty I don't know. Do I think we need an upgrade there? Yes. I figure CB, FS & WR are our biggest glaring needs right now, aside from QB, which well, you know...

The secondary definetly needs upgrading .. u do make a solid point about Booty .. I think you are dead nuts wrong about Haden .. he hasn't been a decent cover corner for 2 or 3 years now .. he SUCKED last year ...

Peppers will definetly upgrade the speed of the secondary ... there's NO DOUBT about that ...

It will also be a different system ...

And as u pointed out .. the PASS RUSH will cover some of the warts ... last year on more plays than any secondary should be asked to they had to cover for an eternity it seemed ...

This secondary needs upgrading ( u can only do so much) but it is faster and will look better than it actually is compared to last year cause of the pass rush .... there's stil going to be plenty of bad plays .. but it should be BETTER ...

Also .. the new SIMPLIER system should cut down on the communication errors back there ... it couldn't be worse .. *LOL* ..

If they win more than three games it will be a miracle.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I don't think three is a miracle....we play NYJ, CHI, LA, JAX, HOU (playing Savage or Watson). I think any more than 5/6 games would constitute a miracle.

I'm not just clicking .. *L* ..

Hue gave the Miami game away last year and there were 2 or 3 others we could have won with a different bounce of the ball .. What game was it Pryor got the BS personal foul flag in ...

3 or even 4 last year was within reach ... no clue why it would take a miracle to get there this year ... makes no sense to me ..

We got better .. no denying that ... not everyone that was just slightly ahead of us can say that ..

Unless of course u don't think we improved ... *shrugs* ..

I'm gonna preface this by saying, I haven't felt this good about the Browns in 3 years, but. I think Corey Coleman will be an injury bust, and I have a bad feeling about MG.

If we had average wide receivers, 6-7 wins, but I'm gonna go with 4-5 wins.

Why do.you think the Chargers is a winnable game
That team is gonna be a juggernaut on offense
Rivers Gordon Gates Williams Tyrell Williams Keenan Allen
Bosa leading that defense with Ingram . I got the Chargers winning the West

No injuries and assuming we get average type QB play, we'll win between 4-8 games.

I believe that the defense will make a big step forward to open the season, and then will develop into an average type unit. I share the concerns some have at CB, but am hopeful that we will be able to pressure opposing QBs on a consistent basis. If we can, our CBs won't have to cover for 5 minutes like they did all too often last year.

I think that our OL will help our run game take a big step forward. We managed almost 5 yards/carry last year between Crow and Duke. I think we'll do well this year as well, only with more carries.

I am very hopeful about our TEs. I really like DeValve, and I expect that Njoku will be a real weapon, though he is rather green.

I think that we are heading in the right direction. I wanted Hue as our head coach as soon as Pettine was fired, and, in fact, even said that he was the guy I wanted if Pettine was canned. I think we got the right guy to develop this team, and turn things around.

I could be, but he hasn't been healthy for two years. IIRC, he had a decent season three years ago. We'll have to see, this year is probably make/or break whether he finishes out his contract. The big question mark is, can he stay healthy? He does play hurt, but he's practically useless when he does, so he needs to be physically sound. If not, we need to move on from him.

We beat them last season with a crap roster.

And of all those teams I listed, they're simply more winnable IMO than other contests. I don't think they're a lock just as I think the teams that are more loseable are a lock either. Anything can happen.

The injury point is fair ... i just think hes lost a step even when healthy ... he's been getting beat like a rented drum for 3 or 4 years now right out of the gate ...

Hopefully williams will rejuvenate him ... if he can't no one will .. *L* ...

My hope is we find someone in the next draft or FA period to make him expandable ... thumbsup

I am not as worried about that based on things I have read. Williams doesn't get very exotic with his coverages. The corners have one mission. Don't let the ball get over their head in a hurry. I think the problem our DBs had last year was they we looking in to the backfield and losing sight of their receiver. I don't think Williams is looking at the corners for much run support until their receiver starts acting like a blocker. Let the box players worry about the run. Corners, just stick to your guy.

I think this makes it pretty simple for the corners.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Yeah I am not expecting good play from Haden.... I *hope* he was struggling because of his injury AND the poor overall ability of the D - and maybe he will surprise me and recover some of his previous form if healthy and needing less time to cover .... to me he's always been a bit handsy - and the last 2 seasons when he has played he's been very very handsy and got called a lot.

Haden always struck me as a a physically gifted player who was also football smart - I don't know that he was/is a true student of the game or a working hard at his craft ..... if that's the case being a step slower and a little older and less physical is going to have a major impact on his ability.

BPG, Why do you think we will lose to the Texans? Their Oline is a shambles and very well may be playing a rookie QB.

I'm still thinking 5-11. Of course this banks on being able to stay healthy and being able to run the ball successfully (and not abandon it when it's working like we did last year.)

4-5 wins and that will be progress. Next year we play hard for a playoff spot.

I remember the first half of last season, we were generally viewed as a "tough team" that just "couldn't catch a break"

The PF against Baltimore, the Not a Fumble against Washington, Missed FGs against Miami..

Then we played New England, and got blown out. And it went right back to "LOL BROWNS"

I prefer to look at the schedule in sections. I think we *could* come out of the first four games at 2-2.

I think that on that beyond Week 1 against Pitt, Bal, Ind, and Cin while generally viewed as better than us, are still teams that could trend up, or down.

And if we can start out at 2-2, then some work can be done.

NYJ, HOU, TEN, MIN, 3 of those teams are carried by defense. No one really knows how good their offenses will be. So I add them to the "maybe could win" category.

(If we don't beat the Jets then none of this matters)

I think the potential for being 4-4 going into the bye is there.

DET, JAX, CIN, LA, more teams that could be trending up or down, especially by mid season.

Is 6-6 a possibility? Yes I believe so.

GB, BAL, CHI, PITT, I think is on of if not the toughest parts of the schedule.

Depending on how well Bal and Chi are doing, is 8-8 possible? Yes I think so.

It all depends on how well our opponents develop, along with how well we are developing.

So in conclusions, is put our projected win total range between 4 and 9. Assuming we get the bounces to go our way this year.

I think generally, I just want to watch a team that believes it's getting better. Because not every year is in a vacuum. And you should always be working towards *eventually* winning a SB.

But specifically. I hope we can at least beat teams like NYJ, JAX, and CHI. Because they aren't good. And we need to get above them in the pecking order.

Stealing Week 1 also wouldn't be bad cool

Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?
