Letter from a Dad ... very heartwarming ... Hey folks this is Billy Inman. This Father’s Day weekend marks seventeen years since the tragic day we lost our son Dustin who would have been 33 years old now. His Mom, my wife Kathy, is in the shape she is today – in constant pain in a wheelchair and dealing with doctors every week – because an illegal alien Gonzalo Harrell-Gonzalez (an “everyday illegal alien”) slammed into our car at an estimated 62 mile an hour and still hasn’t been held accountable for the horrific pain he caused our family. Our government knows where Gonzalo is but they say there’s nothing they can do about it because he’s in Mexico. (note: here is a letter from DOJ to the Inman family) But it happened here and I want to thank President Trump for what he has done on illegal immigration and I believe that’s what got him elected. I got to meet him back in October. I feel he wants the best for America and his handshake truly has meant the world to me. We have been invited to Washington several times but Kathy’s condition caused by the illegal alien forced us to cancel three times. In April, the government flew us to Washington for the opening of the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) which is an official an advocate to help victims of illegal aliens created by President Trump. I truly hope something will be done so that you won’t have to go through what my family has. It’s not right. Our thanks to President Trump and all who have helped battle this problem. This shouldn’t be a sanctuary for illegal aliens and those who have fled the U.S. for the crimes they have committed should be brought back for justice. Billy Inman, Dustin’s Dad Woodstock, Ga. June, 2017 I guess those of U with all your kids will have a better Father's Day than him ... but as long as you have al your kids .. NO BIGGIE .. let um keep rolling on in ... http://www.thedustininmansociety.org/blo...-illegal-alien/

This just happened this week near me. By Sheryl Roadcap - sroadcap@sidneydailynews.com SIDNEY — Four illegal Mexican immigrants are in custody following a crash on Monday evening. Betsi Anai Vargas Flores, 28, is being held on charges at the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office after rear-ending another vehicle at the intersection of Jackson Road and state Route 29 in Perry Township. She has no driver’s licence or insurance on the vehicle that is owned by another person. Eglain Lopez-Camey, 23, Toni Maori Lopez-Camey, 24, and Oberto Lopez-Perez, 22, were taken into Federal custody in Butler County. Shelby County Sheriff John Lenhart said the group was living in the Springfield/Columbus area, but worked at Freshway Foods in Sidney and was on their way home at the time of the crash. He said one person was in charge of holding everyone’s personal cards/paperwork, which indicates a human trafficking situation. Lenhart said the local resident driver of the other vehicle was seriously hurt in the crash, and one of Flores’ passengers suffered minor injuries. Perry Port Salem Rescue, Port Jefferson Fire Department, CareFlight, Sidney Medics and Fire Department and Deputies responded to the scene. Although Flores had no legal documents, Lenhart said she did have a food card and a WIC card in her name. “I understand employers need employees, and hats off to people who want to come to our country for a better life, but we need to get a grip on this immigration. It’s a mess,” Lenhart said. “You and I as tax payers pay for all of that.” http://www.sidneydailynews.com/news/78401/illegal-immigrants-taken-into-custody

There is a legal way to enter this country and an illegal way. human traffic and drug dealers enter illegally. They would not get in any other way. We have to find a way to keep this kind of criminal trash out of our country.

I could post tons of crimes commited by US citizens ON US Citizens everyday. Awful crimes. White on White, Black and White on each other, Black on Black, almost every race, every religion, every political view, any other way you want to break it down. And if I targeted my post at a specific group, say affluent whites, the post would be every bit as disturbing as all of your post about Mexican illegals.
The primary difference would be that I have no agenda to spread hate. I don't feel a primal need to attack the 'other' like so many on here seem to feel. Every group has bad apples, odd balls, and salt of the earth types. Mexicans are no different.
Now on an individual basis each of these crimes is a horrible thing, but would you also condemn an entire group of say "white middle class christian republicans" if a few bad apples commited crimes? WOuld you go on a full blown hateful trolling campaign to justify persecuting them? Doubtful.
So one must conclude that there is a degree of 'otherism' or 'racism' involved in these posts you keep making of this nature. If that is not the fact I'd like to know what your explanation is, or at a minimum I'd like to know which it is "otherism or racism" that drives you. What kind of person feels the need to posts these things? What makes you feel so much hate for these people?
Sure the came here illegally, big deal. What else drives you?

I don't begrudge those people coming here but they need to go about doing it legally. The person these people hit was seriously injured and their vehicle totaled and these illegals had no insurance. So who pays the price? not the illegals. They were also on WIC so us tax payers are paying for them to live here.

So who pays the price? not the illegals. They were also on WIC so us tax payers are paying for them to live here. I understand your point of view here totally Diam, we just don't agree on a certain level. You see them as entering illegally being a criminal act and it seems like you automatically lower them to a level of subhuman as a group rather they are hard working or not, rather they hurt anyone or not, rather they contribute greatly or not... I see them as people trying to escape a harsh reality in their own country, or trying to improve their lot in life while 'most of them' do no harm to us at all. Given, they did not follow our laws coming in but when white settlers came to America, they didn't respect the Indian way of life or laws, when we stole the Mexican territories from texas to california we weren't following their rules either. Yet we somehow became a great country and an inclusive country. Weird how that works. A more modern comparison might be our northern border where canadians are free to come in all the time. I'm sure some bad apples have crossed the northern border too, but I don't see all the rallying cries to deport them. So I would ask you this question, if a Mexican Canadian comes in from the north are they welcome? If not, are french Canadians or British Canadians welcome? They sure seem to be. Yet our southern border being no different but the population being predominantly brown seems to be viewed very differently, wouldn't you agree? Now as for your taxpayer's argument, I'm going to make a very long very thorough series of posts on that subject later today and I would very much like you feedback after you have read the entire thing. Thanks for toning it down and engaging.

There's no other way to see it unless you try to rationalize it. It is exactly that, a criminal act. That makes them criminals from the moment they enter our nation and deserving of deportation. Now you may wish to change the laws, but until you do, that is an undeniable fact.

I don't think of immigrants as subhuman but it needs to be done the right way so others don't pay the price. What if the person they hit in the accident was your wife and she would now have a debilitating injury and your vehicle totaled all while you were on a limited income. The company I work for has quite a few people from African countries working here on work visas, they did it the right way. These people should also.

I understand your views on this but please address my question about the northern border. Why do we treat it differently. Why are we not deporting Canadians? There are tons of Canadians working here/doing business illegally and Americans in Canada doing the same thing. It seems we have a double standard and the only reason I see for that is skin color.

It wasn't long ago that Americans could travel visa free into Mexico or Canada and I did so on many occasions. You could stay as long as you liked and do pretty much as you wanted. You could not legally work in either country outside of your own business interests but anything else was fair game.
At that time, Canadians enjoyed the exact same privilege coming here but our Mexican neighbors did not. I thought that was wrong then and still do now. I prefer open borders with Mexico and Canada myself. Our cultures are very much intertwined. As are our peoples and the heritage of our Country as a whole. Dual citizenship should be easy to get IMHO.

I don't believe we should treat it differently. I'm also not going to be swayed away from the subject at hand. Crossing any border we have with a foreign country in an illegal manner is cause for deportation. That's not a debatable topic. It's the law. We can debate if that law is fair, if we agree with it or any number of other things. But that's the law. That's the penalty for breaking that law. I used to smoke weed. I knew it was illegal. I knew if I were caught there was a penalty to pay. I didn't like the law. I hoped that law would change. However I wasn't foolish enough that I didn't know the law. The same applies here. Could people with enough money hire a good defense attorney and have a better chance of beating such charges? Yes they could. So would that give me a reason to complain or expect special circumstances if I were caught by using the excuse I couldn't afford a good defense?

Illegal is illegal, doesn't matter if they are Mexican, Canadian, Cuban, Russian, Chinese or from Mars if caught they need deported. As far as treating the northern border different I would guess that is probably because there are far more people entering the country illegally from Mexico then Canada.

http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/9-11...56340?cid=bitlyGround Zero recovery worker from Queens targeted by immigration authorities for deportation A Queens man put his health on the line to help remove hazardous material from Ground Zero — and now immigration authorities want him removed from the country over a 30-year-old criminal case. Carlos Humberto Cardona, 48, was one of about 41,300 people ICE agents took into custody during the first 100 days of the Trump administration. But Cardona is fighting for his freedom — with a Brooklyn federal lawsuit and a state clemency bid. “I can’t believe that this is happening to him after all of the sacrifices he has made. He says he feels like he’s being treated like a criminal,” Cardona’s wife Liliana told the Daily News. “He’s suffering from depression being locked up in there.” Cardona didn't think twice about being part of the 9/11 clean-up effort, his wife said. Cardona, in custody in New Jersey, also has a pending clemency application with New York State, filed in April. “I certainly think the circumstances warrant a pardon," Barua said. Liliana said Cardona fled to the United States in 1986 at age 17. His two older brothers were police officers who'd been killed by anti-government rebels when Colombia was deep in a decades-long civil war. "His life was in danger," Liliana said. NYC's immigrants living in fear as ICE ramps up deportations In 1990, Cardona pleaded guilty to an attempted drug sale count in New York. “He was standing next to a friend when that happened. It wasn't his,” his wife said. Cardona has had no convictions since. In May 2000, authorities entered a removal order based on the conviction. The order was hanging over his head during his months of Ground Zero clean-up work through Milro Construction. It stayed with him as he raised his now 19-year-old daughter, Jiselle, and married Liliana in 2013, after a long courtship. Last year, Jiselle wished her dad a happy Father’s Day on Facebook, writing: “You don't know how much I appreciate you.” In April 2011, ICE agents arrested Cardona, but let him go the same day. They put him on an order of supervision, which Barua explained, was like being on supervised release with required periodic check-ins. According to court papers, Cardona got the order of supervision because of his “chronic respiratory problems caused by his time as a recovery worker.” ICE revoked the supervision order earlier this year, following Trump's January executive order pledging "all appropriate actions" to detain immigrants facing deportation. An ICE spokeswoman did not respond to a request for comment. Cardona was taken into custody during a February check-in with immigration authorities and has been held at Hudson County Correctional Facility in New Jersey. Liliana remembered the cold day when he told her about the check-in. “He called me and said, I have to go to court and check in. He had gone so many times,” she recalled. “He told me he wanted to fix his immigration status. ... He didn’t come home that day. He was taken to a detention center in New Jersey. He doesn’t deserve this treatment. I just want to see him back home.”

OMG... First Trump goes after a Gold Star Family, now ICE following his policies goes after a 911 Patriot? Sure he was in the clean up crew and not a First Responder, but the man deserves more respect than this.
I don't even recognize this country today, where are our values? People like this do not deserve this treatment, he should be given a pass.

I guess my question to you, is which among them don't you believe does deserve a pass? You do understand what the word "illegal" means, right?

I'm going to make a blanket statement talking about Mexicans in general, I know it doesn't apply to all Mexicans but it is a personal observation of mine.
Mexicans tend to be much like the US families of the 30's - 50's. They often seem to be hard working salt of the earth types with solid morals and values living in close knit extended families that are usually very honest, law abiding, god fearing, and conservative.
Now I know this description is not one size fits all, but I've found it mostly true in my life and interactions with the Mexican community.

Hey, my last name is in his thread. Spelled a little differently but certainly pronounced the same. No relation that I'm aware of.
It's not Harrell-Gonzalez. Or Harold Gonzalas.

It's really bizarre when you have been off DTers for most of the last week and you open a thread titled "Happy Fathers Day" and this is the very first post at the top of your page... Not blaming you because this happens in a lot of threads and I have no desire to go back and see who got the thread off track, if it was ever on track... it's just sad.

So you've decided that we should not give out the punishment our law requires for illegally entering our country. Are there any other crimes you wish to quit enforcing?

I'm only looking at the law and what it states. People wish to make it political, but when reading the law, it's really cut and dry.
It is rather baffling though. The party that thrives on cheap labor actually promoting the deportation of cheap labor. But I digress.

oh i feel you, as i said before i lean more to the right when it comes to illegal immigration.
i just wonder if there are more important things to worry about, or drug dealing illegals to focus on rather than some undocumented teenager in high school.
i guess my thing isn't so much deporting illegals, but the priority of it, or certain ones, at least.

I don't place it as high on my priority list as some do. It's not a topic that would decide my vote. I just know it seems to be a consistent topic that comes up. I know it raises the ire of a lot of people.
So typically when the topic arises I try to be objective and look at the laws. When I do that, the answer on the topic seems pretty clear to me.

Well the obvious reply is those that commit felonies with victims. Drug dealers, bangers, junkies, dregs of society... Not hard working people, not just because they are illegal, not kids... So you've decided that we should not give out the punishment our law requires for illegally entering our country. Reagan said it was all good. Ronald Reagan signed the Immigration Reform Act of 1986, which had been written, debated, and voted on by both houses of congress... if somebody wants to do it that way, then that is how our legislative process is supposed to work. It's not supposed to work by cities and states just deciding unilaterally that they don't have to enforce laws they don't like.

All that you say is true.
However, many people believe the rights of states are infringed upon by federal law and that federal law should not impede the rights of states.
