Last Friday, I'm listening to Pandora on my iPhone 6 Plus (I mention that in case it matters), I have my bluetooth earbuds in, the station is Monty Python, comic Billy Connoly is talking about Celtic Folk Songs, I'm a fan of Celtic music (stems from my Tolkein fandom I guess), I THINK to myself 'I should do a Celtic station.

The next 40 minutes are nothing but Celtic music!

I didn't search for it, it just showed up AFTER I THOUGHT IT!

How did that happen?

You had your Bluetooth earbuds in.

Google read your mind and provided.

A.I. is here to stay and your main concern should be what did it implant before it left your mind.

have you searched for it before?

i know pandora radio, same with spotify, will attempt to recognize playlist, patterns, or music that you hit the like button on, and play music from that genre, essentially personalizing the radio station for you.

for example, i was searching for older country music, and somehow Spotify had this playing on a random mix:

and omg is this one of my favorite tracks right now.

witchcraft bro.

I just scrolled through my stations, there are three things with Celtic in the title, but the most recent time I listened to any of those was a year ago.

I think the NSA is practicing on us!

This is correct. Pandora has AI that analyzes your favorites.

Not an AI but a really sophisticated algorithm. So he listened a year ago, these just happened to pop based on frequency and his taste in music. AI's can't mind read yet, but algorithms come close.

No different than those side bars on Amazon that are most likely Cleveland Brown related. Or, if you bought music on Amazon you will see more titles/bands similar to the last album you bought. They pick up on your searches, what you look at and what you are interested in to target their audience with more similar ads.

ALSO why you should never do those stupid quizzes on Facebook like "what accent do you have", "what state should you move to", "How many states have you been to?" or "what famous film star/Star Wars character would you be" etc. etc.. They are not just fun and games they are sophisticated algorithms learning more about you and your interests to target ads your way.

I don't control Pandora, it controls me.

The Pandora algorithm has narrowed my complete play list to one song.

It plays it over and over.

This is so terribly true, it's like in Minority Report when Tom Cruise walks into the mall and something does a retina scan and then someone is on a screen 'greeting' him and asking if he wants something he's known to have been interested in in the past.

Almost all the Jetson like 1984 stuff is coming true...

I never do those stupid quizzes for this very reason.

Can they please hurry up then and get to the Jetsons part where we can push a button and poof three seconds later our meal is hot, and ready to eat.

Personally, I wonder what a generation radiation treated microwave food has done to us, but I'd rather they hurry up and get to the anti gravity flying cars myself.

I think anti-gravity is impossible. At least according to Einstein's relativity theories.

But electromagnetic propulsion is advancing.

I think this is how modern commuter trains work now.

These magnets can suspend an enormous amount of weight in the air.

Of course I could be wrong, I'm only 1,723 credits short of my PhD in Theoretical Physics.

But I do have an Associates in Gym. Almost. Only 58 more credits.

I just watched that Genius series on tv, depicting Einsteins life. That deep sciencey stuff blows my mind.
