Maybe you forgot about that part. And I have answered you on this exact topic many times in the past. It just gets tiresome typing it up over and over, and regardless of what you think about the politics and system, my common-sense advice on how to handle traffic stops and other encounters with police will still serve you well.

But keep having a fit until you stroke out.

I dont care about this topic that much.

I see Haus laying out fact after fact and you cant address any of it.

You repeatedly FAIL to acknowldge that these dudes absolutely had a role in their death. DONT DO ILLEGAL THINGS AND ACT LIKE A FOOL WHEN YOU GET PULLED OVER AND YOU WONT GET SHOT. 99% OF THE TIME. THE OTHER 1% ARE COP FAILS.

And you completely FAIL to acknowldege that there are legal definitions to "murder"

If you want to complain that black men should get a fair trial then you sure as hell better insist a cop gets a fair trial also. Otherwise you are a HYPOCRITE.

And since TWO JURIES have already said NOT GUILTY then what is there to complain about. The letter of the law has to be followed.

But by all means keep crying and having hissy fits and being emotional instead of dealing with the FACTS people give you.

We all know how blind you are.

Anyways like I said, this topic doesnt interest me much. Its the same stupidity and "race card instead of reality" that always happens.

I will go back to reading about cod fishing, because its more interesting than this snowflake whining.

Speaking only for myself I do my best to vote for local folks who can reform the system around here and hope we can spread those feelings. Also by having faith in US you reALIZE WE want to CHANGE THINGS FOR THE BETTER, and that we are doing things to try to make that happen.

you hint at that, but then go "but but but"

and you haven't advocated that in all the other crapfest threads we have on that.

do you tell cops how to behave during traffic stops? do you tell the professionals who are trained to interact with the civilian population that how they operate is wrong?

why is it that we have to change, but cops don't?

and you still haven't answered the question. as usual.

what are you talking about? i address Hau's comments.

think about what you just said.

so anything wrong is an automatic death sentence?

if i yank my arm away from a cop, i deserve to get shot? if im trying to get a cop off of me because "i can't breath" i deserve to die?

just because something is illegal, or someone resist, does NOT give a cop the right to kill someone.

who said anything about cops not getting fair trials? it's apparent to anyone with their eyes open, something you clearly know nothing about, that not only are these cops getting fair trials, they are actually getting FAVORABLE trials.

so what the hell are you talking about?

oh, thats right. nothing, as usual.

and guess what? you didn't even answer the question i asked. all you're doing is acting the same way you're alleging that i am, nothing but hissing and whining.

at least Haus will actually debate. you are the female version of Arch: constantly saying little to nothing of importance. kick rocks.

I do not like lies and dishonesty, like when Perfect says stuff like an officer saw a black guy who did not have a front license plate and then went up and shot him in the head. That is not what happened!

That was the reason for the initial stop. There was quite a bit more that went on, including the driver handing the officer what looks like a half-empty bottle of gin, resisting the officer's attempt to open the door, and then he started the car and attempted to drive away. Do you understand how irresponsible it is to then characterize that as a murder, or an assassination? Why can't we have an adult conversation about what happened? I see elements of fault from both parties.

Apparently there have been a combined 11 jurors across 2 juries who thought the officer was not guilty of any charges, and several more who thought he was guilty of manslaughter but not murder. They actually got all the information-- I only watched a 90 second video clip (twice) and argued about it some on Dawgtalkers. Maybe the defense has an even more compelling argument, like the officer was actually being dragged (it is hard to tell based on the video, but it is a possibility.)

i don't see it irresponsible at all to classify it as murder, especially since we see civilians everyday getting charged with murder with shadier dealings.

hell that stupid teenager just got convicted of involuntary manslaughter for that kids suicide.

but cops aren't even getting those sort of charges. cops are straight up getting OFF, bro. and that's my beef.

cause if that was me or you, bro, we'd be in jail. and not for no 6-12 months, either.

and you haven't answered my question. based on history, why should blacks and latinos have faith in law enforcement and the criminal justice system?

and no, you haven't answered this exact topic in the past, and you damn sure haven't answered that question.

I dislike the question because I've had this conversation many times (not just on this board), and people like you will always disregard my opinion because I am white and therefore must not be able to contribute anything meaningful to the discussion based on my history.

My observation is that the system works pretty well when people do the right thing (i.e. don't break the law) and show some deference and respect. You obviously have a different opinion and that's fine.

Also, the "text message killer" never should have been convicted, regardless of how disgusting or appalling her messages were. That was a direct affront to free speech and the whole idea that words are not violence.

I admit I quit reading the thread after awhile. So, perhaps it took a different direction and I obviously missed it, but the parts I read.....

Y'all are a clueless lot. I can tell that not one of you understands what goes down deep in the 'hood. LOL at sensitivity training for the cops so they become more empathetic.

A lot of people barking, but I'd like to see how you would handle just one freaking night where it's real dark.

The part about sensitivity training was an amusing suggestion for sure. Real world experiences trump that kind of training any day.

By the way, you didn't miss much-- just the typical back and forth arguing for this kind of thread.

I kinda feel bad now. I should have just kept my mouth shut, like I did earlier in the thread. I just got irritated by all the make-believe wonderland crap. On both sides.

The blank down there is real. This blank here.........is not even close to being realistic.

I really wanna tell a couple of stories, but some will think I'm making them up and the rest of y'all will ignore them because they don't fit in w/blaming the other side.

Let me just say this...........no amount of training [for either group] is gonna fix this [censored]. It starts w/being a man and earning respect.

You shouldn't feel bad. You are a teacher with many years of life and teaching experience. You should be able to share your opinion in all its detail without fear of backlash. Unfortunately, there's always the PC lynch mob lurking around and even honest observations can get you in trouble these days.

I also have many stories to share of working in rough neighborhoods, and I did share some of the tamer ones earlier in this thread. There are others (non-job related) that are considerably worse. And in fairness, I have also been the recipient of some incredible acts of kindness and hospitality that I will never forget. It's not all bad. Good can be found in all places.

Unfortunately your bit at the end is probably correct. The divide is huge and only getting wider. Some of us can't even agree on very simple things in this thread.

They are still doing their thing just not getting the Press they used to. I see stories of BLM doing good, doing bad, being helpful to society and being a problem for society. I have seen stories where they are treated bad too, like the Sheriffs wife who trashed her own home and blamed BLM.

I am left with mixed feelings about BLM but I still root for them. They have real potential.

just my opinion.

I struggle with your very question. As in I struggle with an answer to it.

To make it simple, I don't blame people for not having faith in police. The deck remains stacked against minority groups in this country. I have yet to see any ounce of meaningful reform for the inner-city.

It will only change when the collective consciousness of America allows themselves to fully understand, or at least attempt to, the true phlight.

We'll get nowhere with this thinly veiled attempt to #MakeAmericaWhiteAgain.

That's fair. But when Spiral talks about murder, that suggests the real possibility of sending the officer to prison for the rest of his life. Do you think his mistake is worthy of life imprisonment? I don't.

If I put myself in the position of the victim's father, I can honestly say it would make me sick to my stomach that you even use the word "mistake" in relation to my son being shot in the head from point blank range by a police office at a traffic stop... even if he had some gin, even if it looked like he might drive off....

A mistake is when you handcuff an innocent person and shove them up against the wall even though the resemblance wasn't all that close to the actual person you were looking for... that's a mistake.

So yes, unless there is some information out there that I haven't seen yet on why this officer needed to fire his weapon at all.. then he deserves to spend a considerable amount of time in jail.

In answer to your question of "Why blacks should trust the justice system".

Once again you've made the mistake of isolating it to race, not class. As much as the headlines accentuate these racial divides, the fact is that all poor people get the justice they can afford. Take O.J. as an example. Do you really think he would have gotten a not guilty verdict if he had a public prosecutor? Of course not. He was very wealthy. As such he got the justice he paid for.

All poor people get treated poorly in the justice system. Prosecutors often times raise the charges to heights they know they can't get a conviction for to scare people. Then they offer a plea bargain and people are too afraid not to take the deal. Public defenders have such a heavy case load they often times recommend these people take such plea bargains. And you know what? It doesn't matter if they're black or white.

You get the justice you can afford to pay for no matter what color you are.

My dad told me about things like this and he was right.

"As long as the rich can keep the poor divided, they'll never accomplish anything."

Then the DA, whom you have some relationship with via court procedures, decides how to charge you. Then you're prosecuted by a fellow city employee who works closely with the police department? Our system is such a joke in this regard. It wouldn't be a problem, but it seems like many can't stop shooting black people threats based on their own paranoia.

I think you're giving an overly rosy picture of what an officer goes through after a shooting. My understanding is internal affairs is brought in and investigations are usually done by people who are not acquainted with the officer. Maybe Devil or somebody else can give more details.

Also think about what officers have to go through in some of these cities, dealing with the dredges of society on a daily basis and all the lying, incompetence, and danger that goes along with it. You get these guys (and women) who are so overworked, so overstressed, constantly being filmed by people who are just waiting for the officer to make that one mistake so they can plaster it all over social media. It's crazy.

Well, I think you just don't know what you're talking about. Internal investigations isn't a guaranteed thing to begin with. Cleveland got major police reforms after Tamir Rice including an internal investigation. This also doesn't change the fact that the Officer will be talking to other officers at the scene. Also while the investigation might be done by someone who is not acquainted with the officer, the court system is not so unfamiliar. Unless a special prosecutor is brought in of course. I can understand your naivety in these situations, as you've probably looked into it briefly. However, don't try to come for someone when you're not positive on what you're talking about.

Secondly, most people work under surveillance. I don't see why cops should be so different. Especially when they are granted a lot of power in our communities. As the comic books say, great power comes with great responsibility. I hate to sound so mean, but if you can't handle a cellphone being around you, you probably shouldn't be able to enforce our laws. The noided cops defense is a good defense though. Even if cop killings have steadily dropped off for quite awhile now.

I think you're being too sensitive and got offended because somebody used a politically incorrect descriptor.

Most of us have at least some idea of the violence and other crap that goes on in the hood. That is the real thing to get sick over-- things like senseless shootings because somebody was wearing the wrong colors, or accidentally scuffed their sneakers.

Maybe you should direct your outrage there, or at the "knockout" game, or something similar.
