Yet many medical advances are coming out of nations with socialized medicine. They will always make a profit, the question is how much profit?

You can go to Canada or Mexico and get the exact same medications for much less. Do you think the drug companies are losing money in every other country they sell their drugs too besides the U.S.? That's my point.

Why would all of these medical advances be coming from these other nations with socialized medicine? Why do we pay more for medicine than everyone else?

Many of the medicines are created in the US and shipped to the world. The West pays a higher price and the lower income nations pay a lower price. Would you have it otherwise and throw the poorer nations under the bus?

We are also one of the only Nations completely responsible for our own National Defense. Other Nations can spend more on social programs instead.

The costs of development must be paid for, including a profit or there is no reason to have such a business.

I have told you over and over that many of the newest drugs and treatments are being developed in other countries. I even used Cuba as an example.

And in case you weren't aware, tax dollars already provide over 32 billion dollars in funding and grants for research.

There are great medical research and development going on in countries other than the U.S. Every other nation pays far less for prescription drugs and our nation funds 32.3 billion in R&D with our tax dollars.

Wages are so low that many who work in low paying jobs qualify for food stamps and medicaid for their children. That's a fact diam.

Your tax dollars are paying for those benefits. Fact Diam.

You are paying for the healthcare and food for their workers because their wages keep them well below the poverty level. Fact Diam.

You either wish for wages to rise so they don't qualify for these programs or you wish to subsidize their workers with your tax money and pay those companies worker benefits.

That or you would simply let their children go hungry and have no medical coverage.

No, I wasn't. I was adamantly opposed to Obamacare since it's inception. I tended to believe the counterarguments that costs would go up further and it would be unsustainable. I still believe they knew that was going to happen, they just viewed it as a necessary step to government healthcare, which they couldn't get passed in one step.

In other words, they had to make it even more broke before they convince the people that the only way left to fix it was to just turn the whole thing over to the government.

The geopolitical world of today is not a game of Risk. There is more or less zero motivation for Russia to invade any Western Hemisphere country. Hell, there's low motivation for them to invade any country in Europe.

The only time you see countries take up any sort of military occupation in today's world is when they see it as a logical extension of their nation. That is to say, that they feel that their people (ie Russians) make up the bulk of a foreign country nearby (say, the Ukraine). They have to have some sort of reasoning for it that the international community can buy. Otherwise, they get cut off and isolated and there are very few countries in the world (if any) that can survive any significant amount of time with multiple trade embargoes on it.

Tell it to Ukraine, Georgia, Crimea, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, and any other Nation that still exists because big brother has got their backs.

Low wage workers make more money when u raise the minimum wage (thats BS also but for this discussion we'll PRETEND ITS TRUE ...

So u got someone making 10 dollars an hour and there on food stamps and welfare and housing ... (no clue if they could get al that but for this discussion we'll pretend its true) ... so now we raise the minimum wage to 12 an hour ....

1st off how much if any does that lower there handouts?

2nd who do u think pays the 2 dollar extra per hour there making (witch is BS as there hours get lowered and they end up making the same amount or less money witch actually HURTS them and making less through there job may actually RAISE THERE BENIFITS) ...

ANYHOW .. so the employer now has to pay his workers two more per hour .. where do u think that $2 comes from ... u think the employers make ess money or do u think whatever there pimping' price goes up 2 dollars? .. remember ... ALL THERE COMPETION has the same issue facing them ...

This is step one and theres a lot more to it I don't think u understand one little bit .... all u want to do is spout feel good stuff and not really look at the DETAILS ... lets see where we go when we ACTUALLY DIG INTO SOME NUMBERS ...

And Pit ... remember this ... one city has all ready rolled back there minimum wage increases and two states are about to adjust it down ...

And remember this is step 1 ... if u get through this THERES WAY MORE LEVELS TO THIS ...

Maybe next we'll go to big corps vs small businesses ... cause it affects them both the same as far as wages go witch is a COST to both ...

There's nothing hard about understanding what you said. It's obvious the position you support is that corporations pay low wages and the tax payers foot the bill for the medical benefits and food assistance of their employees. I told you there were choices and you made yours. See how simple that was?

But it certainly is a choice. We either pay more at the local shopping places and eateries, or we pay out more in social programs. At least I know which one you choose to do now.
