Let's see:

Dysfunctional congress can't get anything passed even with the majority in everything, Trump lied about having a healthcare plan ready to go, now is relying on a dysfunctional congress to create and pass the bill, tax reform looks like an utter joke and probabaly wont happen, the "trump rally" in the stock market almost dead cause investors are wishing up to the reality that most of the things trump promised won't happen, and of course, Jr bringing even more heat to the whole Russia investigation, which of course trump is focused on, as well as beefing with news anchors on Twitter, too disctracted to actually run the country.

You trump supporters tired of winning yet? Lol, it would be even more funny if it wasn't for the fact that the GOP and trump are running this country into the ground.

But hey, at least we're about to go to war with North Korea. War is something conservatives love so I guess that's a plus.

Hillary Clinton's plan to attack Bernie Sanders' wife

According to a series of 2015 emails to and from Clinton’s campaign manager, John Podesta, leaked to and published on Wikileaks, the Clinton team wrote an extensive political opposition memo entitled “Sanders Top Hits-Thematics.” The memo details Mrs. Sanders’ role in the college’s financial failure, and parallels the ongoing FBI investigation, now before a grand jury, into the scandal. Other email correspondence shows the Clinton team believed scandals surrounding the college and Jane Sanders provided an opportunity to knock the Vermont senator’s reputation and chances to win the Democratic primary election.

They learned it from the GOP.

Yeah it's pretty pathetic that this country is being led by an administration with their very own home boys at the reins of a GOP controlled House and Senate and still can't get healthcare or tax reform done or even so much as walk and chew gum at the same time.

Who Knew?

Couple things.. if Trump is too distracted to run the country and GOP is too dysfunctional to get anything passed.. how are they running the country into the ground?

Second, citing that a significant strong period in the stock market is beginning to level out is a bit disingenuous.. did anybody really expect it to up by 9% every 6 months forever?

By not tweaking he ACA to work, or st least move ahead to a national system, is gonna end up hurting millions.

By continuing to lie to coal miners and save an industry that can't be saved instead of pushing ahead to transition them into other industries is gonna hurt thousands.

By refusing to ban harmful chemical substance such as the pesticides the EPA chief just let fly is potentially harmful to American health, which will send more people to the hospital, which will be underfunded if they pass their tax cut...uh, I mean healthcare bill. Affecting thousands, maybe millions.

Right now the economy is still running off of Obamas policies, why is why we continue to have economic, stock market, and job growth. But once the fiscal year is over with, that's on the GOP and trump to either continue our growth, or set their own direction of the country.

D.C., I don't agree with the GOP direction. But damn dude, the American people gave them control to set the agenda, so what's taking them so long. How many years did they have to come up with something better than the ACA, how many years did they have to come up with a tax reform plan. How many years did they have to set an immigration plan. How many years did they have to come up with an awesome budget.

Obama handed them progress and a something decent to build off of. If they can't continue said progress using their own vision of the country, and we end up going backwards again due to their dysfunction, then yes, they will be effectively running all of us into the ground.

All I'm wondering is where are the results.

And why can't I expect the stock market to continue to rise? Thats what trump promised and your fellow ilk voted for him because of that. Not my problem your peeps bought into it.

The rally happened because trump promised all these great things. So where are all these great things, bruh?

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAS! The power thread of many things lives on!

Can we go back to 40's assertion that without the US that the entirety of the Pacific Rim would be Chinese? That one was hilarious.

DT is great for zombie threads. No matter what happens, it just won't die.

I also thought 40's opinion about nobody handling a Russian invasion was a bit off. As while sure, the US can handle it on our own, it will NEVER be handled by just one country, if it ever happened.

40 doesn't understand how basic military alliances between countries work.

NATO. The UN. And above all is, basic national economic and political self-interest.

Swish knows nothing of History.

Back in the day, England's Navy was so powerful it would sail the world and when it came across a place it wanted, it would send an emissary into the capitol with a letter stating "The King of England is interested in your country and now claims it as his own. You could fight and die but it would still belong to England.

The British sold opium to the Chinese until it all but destroyed Chinese society so the Chinese passed a law against opium sales and use punishable by death.
The Brits said, oh no you don't and the Navy began to flatten one of their coastal cities, block by block until China dropped the law.

If Their was no US, China or Russia alone could do the same.

In all of known history, there has never been a regime/government/conqueror/empire that did not eventually fall. Country names often stay the same but the regimes change. In fact, every country, culture, group, etc. throughout history has only been as strong as it's ideals. Morally and ethically bankrupt, as well as inhumane regimes tend to fall the fastest.

I personally think a move to take the entire pacific rim would be China's undoing.

The US is just not as important as many think, sure we are a super power but we don't affect as much change many think. Countries (leaders) don't cower in our presence and still do pretty much as they please regardless of how we feel about it.

In my opinion that's one of our biggest problems... As a country and a people we need to get over ourselves and realize we are no different than the rest of the people in the world. We are not 'special', morally superior, or somehow better than other countries just because we are the USA.

When ranked in the things that show greatness, we are often outranked by many other countries. About the only thing we are really #1 without a doubt is our military spending... what does that say about us?

It says that the superpowers in the world are only such because of military might.

Military might, in a world where not a lot of people care about that stuff.

As someone who has extensive travels and lived overseas, I can say for certain that people look to the US for leadership in innovation, certain freedoms, and our overall lifestyles.

The military is often the very last thing anybody ever brings up, and when it's brought up, it's in a negative light.

You can see it around the world. Most countries are concerned with improving the quality of life for its people.

The superpowers are still concerned with measuring stick sizes amongst each other. What's funny? China is gaining ground on us as far as economics because the only country they ever have to measure stick sizes with is the US. Did you see the deal they just made with the EU? That's gonnna lead to a massive quality of life for both parties as a whole.

The EU and china are making economic deals where people are winning, while the US and Russia spend ridiculous amounts of money on large scale military equipment and operations that rarely ever get used.

I mean bro, we started the global economy trend. We led the world in that direction, yet now because of the trump and the GOP, now of all a sudden we don't want to lead anymore?

And guess what? Countries around the world are moving on without us.

But hey, at least we still have the best military.

Yet one of the worst quality of life in developed nations. But, yay to military industrial complex ideology.

Deceiving title.

He clearly states the baltics states would get wiped out in 3 days.

Russia would get absolutely crushed if the entire force of NATO flexed its muscles.

Cause the US is in NATO. Duuuuhhh.

Man, sup with you and loving Russia so much? Who's team do you play for?

we would never know. WW2, a lot of people think Russia beat the Germans back, but forget about the lend-lease policy. Russia would've never beat the Germans if the US wasn't involved with lend-lease.

and again, that article was talking about the baltics being ran through in 3 days. read your own article. NATO, even if you took out the US, is certainly capable of holding their own against Russia, at least when it comes to straight up defense. an offensive assault, maybe not, but we aren't talking about going on the offensive, we are talking about defending against one country.

once again, no country in today's world is winning large scale operations solo dolo anymore.

hell, we had other countries assist and continue to assist us in the middle east. and that's a bunch of militants on the back of toyota pick up trucks with no spare tire.

the entire purpose of military alliances is to deter other nations from trying to take over. it's why we're currently seeing ukraine trying to commit to NATO.

sorry but russia running through europe has a lesser chance of happening than a mini civil war breaking out here in the US. the more countries added to NATO, the lesser that chance becomes.

you and some of your peeps really need to chill with a solo dolo mentality in a world where everyone is clicked up.

Very good point about the Lend-Lease Act. While most of the weapons went to Britain, the US assisted many countries willing to support the defense of the United States or something very similar to that.

However, there was a lot more to it than that. Here is an informative article on the price that the Soviet Union paid.

Quote:

Don’t forget how the Soviet Union saved the world from Hitler

By Ishaan Tharoor May 8, 2015

People look at photos on the "We have won!" memorial panel in Stavropol, Russia May 5, 2015. The panel shows the famous Soviet picture "Flag above the Reichstag" made from 4,222 portraits of defenders of their Motherland during the World War II from Stavropol, local media reported. REUTERS/Eduard Korniyenko
In the Western popular imagination -- particularly the American one -- World War II is a conflict we won. It was fought on the beaches of Normandy and Iwo Jima, through the rubble of recaptured French towns and capped by sepia-toned scenes of joy and young love in New York. It was a victory shaped by the steeliness of Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, the moral fiber of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and the awesome power of an atomic bomb.

[What V-E Day was like in London for a U.S. airman on leave from the war]

But that narrative shifts dramatically when you go to Russia, where World War II is called the Great Patriotic War and is remembered in a vastly different light.

Putin presides over Victory Day parade

On May 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin will play host to one of Moscow's largest ever military parades to mark the 70th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany. More than 16,000 troops will participate, as well 140 aircraft and 190 armored vehicles, including the debut of Russia's brand new next-generation tank.

It's a grand moment, but few of the world's major leaders will be in attendance. The heads of state of India and China will look on, but not many among their Western counterparts. That is a reflection of the tense geopolitical present, with Putin's relations with the West having turned frosty after a year of Russian meddling in Ukraine. When Russia's T-14 Armata tank broke down at a parade rehearsal on Thursday, the snickering could be heard across Western media.

Unfairly or not, the current tensions obscure the scale of what's being commemorated: Starting in 1941, the Soviet Union bore the brunt of the Nazi war machine and played perhaps the most important role in the Allies' defeat of Hitler. By one calculation, for every single American soldier killed fighting the Germans, 80 Soviet soldiers died doing the same.

Of course, the start of the war had been shaped by a Nazi-Soviet pact to carve up the lands in between their borders. Then Hitler turned against the U.S.S.R.

[What one Soviet soldier saw when he entered Auschwitz.]

The Red Army was "the main engine of Nazism’s destruction," writes British historian and journalist Max Hastings in "Inferno: The World at War, 1939-1945." The Soviet Union paid the harshest price: though the numbers are not exact, an estimated 26 million Soviet citizens died during World War II, including as many as 11 million soldiers. At the same time, the Germans suffered three-quarters of their wartime losses fighting the Red Army.

"It was the Western Allies’ extreme good fortune that the Russians, and not themselves, paid almost the entire ‘butcher’s bill’ for [defeating Nazi Germany], accepting 95 per cent of the military casualties of the three major powers of the Grand Alliance," writes Hastings.

The epic battles that eventually rolled back the Nazi advance -- the brutal winter siege of Stalingrad, the clash of thousands of armored vehicles at Kursk (the biggest tank battle in history) -- had no parallel on the Western Front, where the Nazis committed fewer military assets. The savagery on display was also of a different degree than that experienced farther west.

Hitler viewed much of what's now Eastern Europe as a site for "lebensraum" -- living space for an expanding German empire and race. What that entailed was the horrifying, systematic attempt to depopulate whole swaths of the continent. This included the wholesale massacre of millions of European Jews, the majority of whom lived outside Germany's pre-war borders to the east. But millions of others were also killed, abused, dispossessed of their lands and left to starve.

Russian soldiers are pictured on top of the Reichstag building in this undated photo taken May 1945 in Berlin.(REUTERS/MHM/Georgiy Samsonov/Handout via Reuters)
"The Holocaust overshadows German plans that envisioned even more killing. Hitler wanted not only to eradicate the Jews; he wanted also to destroy Poland and the Soviet Union as states, exterminate their ruling classes, and kill tens of millions of Slavs," writes historian Timothy Snyder in "Bloodlands: Europe between Hitler and Stalin."

By 1943, the Soviet Union had already lost some 5 million soldiers and two-thirds of its industrial capacity to the Nazi advance. That it was yet able to turn back the German invasion is testament to the courage of the Soviet war effort. But it came at a shocking price.

In his memoirs, Eisenhower was appalled by the extent of the carnage:

When we flew into Russia, in 1945, I did not see a house standing between the western borders of the country and the area around Moscow. Through this overrun region, Marshal Zhukov told me, so many numbers of women, children and old men had been killed that the Russian Government would never be able to estimate the total.

To be sure, as Snyder documents, the Soviet Union under Stalin also had the blood of millions on its hands. In the years preceding World War II, Stalinist purges led to the death and starvation of millions. The horrors were compounded by the Nazi invasion.

"In Soviet Ukraine, Soviet Belarus, and the Leningrad district, lands where the Stalinist regime had starved and shot some four million people in the previous eight years, German forces managed to starve and shoot even more in half the time," Snyder writes. He says that between 1933 and 1945 in the "bloodlands" -- the broad sweep of territory on the periphery of the Soviet and Nazi realms -- some 14 million civilians were killed.

By some accounts, 60 percent of Soviet households lost a member of their nuclear family.

For Russia's neighbors, it's hard to separate the Soviet triumph from the decades of Cold War domination that followed. One can also lament the way the sacrifices of the past inform the muscular Russian nationalism now peddled by Putin and his Kremlin allies. But we shouldn't forget how the Soviets won World War II in Europe.

Who Knew?

I think a big part of it is Republicans have open minds and don't always agree, unlike the Dems who seem to be like sheep.

I am being serious.

So dysfunction is now considered open minded.

Yea ok. There's he alternative fact of the week, provided by Peen.

And that's what it boils down to Peen. We may see it a little different, but close to the same. The GOP has different factions within it.

There's The Freedom caucus, general conservatives and moderate conservatives. The moderate conservatives seem to me a lot like the Blue dog democrats of the past because there's no room left for them in the democratic party. I think of JFK when I say this. I also feel Gov. Haslam falls into this category.

We have a very diverse nation when it comes to political beliefs. Many people simply can't be tagged as a true liberal or true conservative in every aspect they believe in. There are posters on this board who simply can't grasp that concept, but it's true.

So in some parts of our nation, people believe like the freedom caucus. In other parts of our nation, the Republicans who get elected represent people that do not have such a hard core conservative viewpoint.

I do believe that if they were willing to compromise with each other a little more they could move their agenda forward more effectively. But they seem to want it all or nothing.

While they may be conservative, I think maybe they should listen to Mick Jagger a little closer. "You can't always get what you want. But if you try sometime you just might find, you'll get what you need".

Please, they had 8 years to come up with a plan together, but they didn't.

How much more time does the GOP need? Another 8?

They were he party of no for 8 years straight. And now they have full control, yet just say no to each other.

Call it "diversity" all you want, the majority of Americans know that's a load of crap. They simply aren't good at their jobs. The GOP had years to get on the same page.

Stop making excuses.

I'm not making excuses. You want another example? The Democrats.

They had the last election in the bag. But thanks to those spoiled ass Bernie supporters who refused to vote for Hillary, Trump is president.

So if you want to look at things from an equal perspective instead of from one direction, the Democrats are no less divided that the GOP.
Or is it okay to make excuses for one side and not the other?

People in both parties have different ideas. It's why the GOP hasn't passed a healthcare bill and why Trump is president. Neither party can get it's crap together enough to get the job done.

i agree with everything you say about the dems.

but that doesn't excuse the dysfunction of the current party in charge.

at the end of the day they are the current party that for 8 years said no to everything, and told the american people that if they had control, they would get things done.

i'm not conservative nor do i believe in their policies. however that's what they told the conservative base for years. well, the conservative people put them in full control based on their promise to get things done, and quickly.

at some point people have to start holding these politicians at their word. i understand different opinions amongst the GOP.

but the ONE thing they all campaigned on was repeal and replace the ACA. how many years did they have preaching that to the conservative base about healthcare. how many years did they have to come up with a sound enough plan amongst all the sects in their own party. how many years did they have to work this very SPECIFIC issue out.

i'd understand them not agreeing on stuff like tax reform, or budgets, etc.

but this ONE issue is one of the main reasons conservatives voted for them. chalking it up to "diversity amongst the party" simply isn't good enough.

for someone who rightfully trashes both parties, you and peen are giving us party-like comments.

No, the majority doesn't know it. Quit just talking to talk. You are better than that.

As I said, the Republicans don't just follow marching orders like a bunch of Zombies. They actually debate internally. That is what a thinking people do.

I'm talking the truth.

They've been debating internally for years now. And still nothing.

And yea, the majority knows. These party politicians do follow marching orders like a bunch of zombies.

When the Koch bros speak, the ground in DC trembles.
