Home of JAGUARS Riddled With Bullets

Municipal Stadium Windows Shot Out

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The home of the Jacksonville Jaguars recently became a crime scene after police said someone fired shots into part of Jacksonville Municipal Stadium downtown.

Until the season starts, the Touchdown Club at the stadium sits empty, which is a good thing because someone shot out three windows, shattering the glass.

On Monday, the security company at the stadium found several windows shot out and a bullet wedged in the ceiling.

Unbelieveable kids in Jax, I wonder if the stadium in Cleveland gets rocked like this

Based on this thread, it seems more likely that a Browns fan shot up their stadium...

Not everyone is a football fan, and not every football fan in Jacksonville is a Jags fan.

Man, based on that game and the ponit I was at in my life, that may have hurt all around more than anything.

If I' remember correct, we got our revenge with a hail mary soon after.

Very true. I am most likely moving to the greater Jacksonville area next year and will never be a JAGS fan.

I lived in Jacksonville for many years and seen several games there, including the very last Browns game before Modell moved the team.

I never have been a Jags fan and never will be...but I have never had a problem with a fan of the Jaguars and that includes several games where I was decked out in brown and orange.

Use to hang at a Browns Backer bar there....was always treated good by everybody in the place...........it was fun!

But you know....you cannot compare a team's fans because of an incident that happened at their stadium....always bad apples in every bunch and it appears there are more bad apples as time goes on!

The way the Giants players are ragging on Tom Coughlin.... maybe that was him in there shooting up the place.....wishing he had his job back....that is one coach I just do not understand.............always pissed about something...even with a big lead in the game!

I plan on attending a game there next year...hopefully get to experience Jax in November/December as part of my annual road trip. Is "The Landing" still the place to go there? Haven't been there for about 9 years. I plan on doing Nashville as well.

The more I see that, the more I feel that the ref's f'd up..........and I think throwing bottles WAS called for, as that was the only thing fans could do.

Plain and simple: once another play is run, the prior play cannot be questioned...............

Geez, that brings back bad memories.

You have lost your mind. Throwing crap doesn't solve anything but it did cause injury to fans and the reputation of Cleveland. How would you like it if you were at the game with your family and they were getting pelted with all that crap? I'm sure you would understand.

You're right...Cleveland fans need to learn how to create a real brawl, like in European soccer matches

Awful! Sorry to hear. Like a bad ritual: Who gets to burn a clip and throw out the first lead in the downtown Muni area. That's dangerous. Cleveland fans (West side is STILL the best side!) are tougher: No drive by; they walk up . . . and insert the rounds manually. That's tough, not Jaggish!
Da Browns arrive in 2007! And may the Elf be with us all!

I'll never be sure if that was a catch or not. But one thing I am totally sure of is that the play was run, another play was run and then the Refs called the first play incomplete....AFTER another play was run.

So, maybe in the end, the catch wasn't a catch, I'll never know for sure. But it should have been unreviewable because another play was run.. to me, it's that simple.

Ohhh God I remember that like it was yesterday.I was watching at home in Akron then and when the ref's said "Thats the end of the game" my roomate and I jumped up and say "WHAT THE &@^&" and I smashed the damn remote against the wall, hehe, so I understand the frustration the fans that were there had. But throwing bottles onto the field, though seeming like a good release of that frustration at the time, was stupid. I do think thats all the fans thought they had to show their displeasure at the time b/c nobody knew WTF was going on. But chucking a bottle from the upper deck and hitting a fellow fan or some kid,,come on thats common sense of what not to do. I guess smashing my remote wasn't such a good plan either. It let to 5 pissed off roomates that had to actually get up to change the channel lol.

You are right about it being dumb to throw bottles 337... that was pretty lame, but I do understand the frustration.

I was in Vegas at the Paris Hotel sitting at a bar called Gustovs in the middle of the casino watching the game with another guy from Cleveland. They didn't have the sound up so we couldn't hear what was being said, but it sure as heck looked wierd..

If you haven't fixed your remote yet,,, try this

It truly was surreal in the stadium, a scene that I will never forget. It was 10x worse than what you see on TV, and certainly was not limited to bottles (radio's, batteries, nachos, etc.). There were fathers running up/down the stairs, protecting their kids as projectiles were coming from all directions during the initial onslaught. Remember though, the players and refs didn't retreat to the locker rooms for a few minutes. For what it was worth, the majority of bottles thrown initially were empty, or only had a few ounces left. Several fans then turned the restrooms into an assembly line - runners gathering bottles handed them to people who filled them at the sinks (or by other, natural means ), who then handed them back out to those who hurled the loaded 16 oz. bottles at the players and refs.

The worst part is, this guy is still a ref. Despite the officials breaking the rules, the NFL claims McAuley did nothing wrong. I cringe every time I see him officiate a game.

I live in Jax and they have the most pitiful fans ever. You will rarely see a Jag fan. This morning on the news they were talking about potential blackouts again for this year because of low attendance.

In 03 to prevent blackouts Grocery Store Chain Winn Dixie would buy all of the remaining tickets that were left over to prevent a blackout and give them away FREE. Thats right sports fans. FREE. You know I am from Pittsburgh and that is unheard of. I am sure its the same in Cleveland.

Even with them giving out free tickets the stadium is was still half full.

I go to about 5 home games a year. The reason is because it is so cheap. I can get a ticket for 25 -35 bucks. I can then park for free at a lot I found not to far from the stadium. Thats it. Of course inside I buy beer, but thats a small price to pay to watch some football.
