What happened in Virginia was pure hate from each side. Then an unhinged individual committed a crime and needs to be punished to the full extent of the law.
Hate exists, it is real on both sides. The rhetoric being spewed in the media and by Democrats feeds that hate. It needs to stop.
This country should not see it self as divided. We have different political views yes. But, should be united in a common cause the Constitution.
i agree with that. but that doesn't address what needs to be done to help that happen. you keep talking about the constitution, yet the people keep disregarding the constitution. people like to complain about affirmative action, yet conveniently forget why the policy was implemented in the first place. cause the majority ethnicity said to hell with the constitution and discriminated against minorities anyway.

OK ... so what your saying is that everything should be divided up according to what % of the overall population your race makes up in whatever set your talking about ...
Is that what your saying ... example: blacks are 13% of the population in the us last time i looked ... so 13% of al federal goverment positions should be held by blacks? ...
Is that what your saying? ..
If not, let just continue with the same example ... blacks make up 13% of the entire us population .. what % of federal gov't jobs should be held by blacks? ..
Is it 10, 20, 30% or higher? ...
If I'm reading it wrong .. please tell me exactly what your saying .. thats how I interpret what your saying ...

I don't disagree with that. This country had many miss steps in it's past. I like to think that today in 2017 we have rose to a point were all man is created equal. There are poor people of all races in this country that face the same challenges. How to better prepare those people should be the focus and not singling out a segment of the population is wrong in my mind.

Nah, nothing flies over my head.
Point blank: If there are more "whites" than other "races", it totally makes sense that more "whites" are exactly what you listed.
But even as a strong majority, white people (well, really white men) are over-represented in every facet of America's upper and middle echelon. So either white men and women are the most dominant group of people or they have been afforded opportunities and privileges that other groups have not.

What percentage of congress is "black" vs. "so called white"? Is it wrong to say that if the majority of people are of 1 "race", that the majority of people with jobs, etc, are of that race? What percent of nfl coaches are "black"? What percent of college students are "black"? What percent of NFL players are "black"? What percent are "white"? Or, in the NBA?

not at all bro.
Let me make this clear: i agree with the overall point that jobs/schools should be taken by the people most qualified for that position, regardless of race/religion/gender.
and i will bet my life that the majority of ANY ethnicity in this country believes the same.
what i'm saying is that what we WANT to happen in this country is vastly different from what is EXACTLY happening.
if we are all truly american's, then the percentage of whatever demographic shouldn't matter one bit.
blacks are 13% of the population, but it's simply unrealistic to expect 13% to be represented in anything. and that goes for whites, latinos, etc.
the percentage of a group compared to the labor force/school they are represented in is due to the fact that we as a nation HAVE to look at those stats because of the historic racial discrimination that's being going on in this country since day one.
and so if we actually look at those stats, then as an example, Asians are actually overrepresented based on their population percentage. Asians are 5.6% of the total US population, yet are anywhere from 10-30% of student body population in colleges.
So what ends up happening with Asians is that due to the diversity quota, asians end up getting their test scores compared to OTHER asians, rather than other minorities/whites applying to the school.
do i even need to tell you what student population of blacks are in the US? it's a joke. same with hispanics.
so with the overall question you asked: no, i don't agree in having a certain percentage being represented, but i understand WHY it has to happen. we have to take into account the public/private school differences, economic differences, class differences, etc.
So when I'm seeing people complain about affirmative action in schools and in the work force, my question is: who is being discriminated against?
whites aren't just the majority population; they are in power of every position that can change the circumstances of the people in this country.
so in what reality are they possibly being discriminated against? they control ALL in this country.
it's got to the point in this country that we use arbitrary percentages in order to meet diversity quotas. it's a problem because on one hand, we've created a victimhood in minorities that if you didn't get the job, it's because you're a minority, and if you did, it's only because of affirmative action.
and on the other hand, the majority feel like they are being forced to work with minorities, or getting turned down for jobs based on the IDEA that minorities got the job over them, when i bet most of the time that isn't the case.
honestly, how would someone actually know if they got turned down in favor of a minority applicant based on affirmative action?
it's actually an easy answer: because they assumed because they are white, they had the better resume over a minority, so if they hear that the position they applied for was filled by a minority, it MUST be because of a diversity requirement, not because that minority might have actually be more qualified than him/her.
I could go on and on, but Diam, i would LOVE to get rid of affirmative action, but IMO, there are so many things that need to change before i start taking the repeal of that policy seriously.
i can not support repealing affirmative action when we still have rampant discrimination in this country.

I can't answer your first post, because I'm not google and that is way too many queries. However, occupations with certified licensing reduces the income gap between races and gender. So occupations with these barriers of entry seem to have solved the question, "how many are qualified?".

If affirmative action was used for all races does that mean the NBA would have to hire more white power forwards?
