I don't believe you are wrong. Federal immigration laws trump state law.

Let's look back for a moment. When gas became scarce, the feds told the states that if they didn't cut the speed limit back to 55mph, they would lose federal interstate money. The states then complied because they knew it was within the feds power to do so.

I don't see sanctuary cities as being any different. Now I'm not so sure about the feds dictating that local law enforcement enforce federal immigration policies but I don't doubt that they can.

But we have to also remember that the same policy would hold true when it comes to federal marijuana laws. Every state who has legalized weed for either medical or recreational use could be told their laws are overturned and they must enforce federal marijuana laws.

I believe that voters must elect people they feel will change the laws they don't like rather than to just think their state can overturn such laws and the feds won't force the laws on the books.

Well taking the scale and effort put into its construction over 2,000 years ago, the failure of the Great Wall of China is rather spectacular. It worked as a symbol of power but it didn’t keep determined invaders from the north out.

Same thing with Roman built Hadrian's Wall. It was a symbol of power and couldn't keep northern invaders out of southern England.

The Berlin wall same thing only it was meant to keep people in. Worlds largest forced prison at the time and certainly was not a success by any means.

We could just execute them and throw the bodies over the river to the other bank.

I never said one word about sanctuary cities so I have no idea what you found to disagree with on that topic. CITY thing is not a good thing for any American of all walks of life and political beliefs maybe we disagree but I wish no harm to any fellow American just because we cant get along politically and this Sanc. The whole thing of sanctuary cities strikes me the same way as nullification just prior to the Civil War.

Federal Law is above State Law.
State Law is above City Law.

Now at the City level, they may or may not choose to follow a state/federal law, but if the State/Federal authorities come into the City to enforce it they have every right to do so. It's about who is going to provide the resources for enforcement, which is the responsibility of those who enacted the law.

I am not a big fan of sanctuary cities, on a matter of principal, but its not the first time a city/state has thumbed their nose at law that they do not agree with.

I'd agree with 40 if that COULD happen.

An MS-13 gang member on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list has been captured in Virginia after a four-year manhunt, authorities announced Saturday.

Walter Yovany Gomez, an illegal immigrant from Honduras, was arrested without incident Friday in Woodbridge, 20 miles south of Washington, as a result of a well-coordinated investigation and tips from the public, the FBI said.

"The apprehension of Walter Yovany Gomez is a prime example of the close coordination between the vigilant public and the hard working men and women of law enforcement," Timothy Gallagher, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Newark Office, said. "Gomez will now stand trial for his alleged involvement in a brutal murder which took a young man from his family."

He faces extradition to New Jersey where he was indicted on a charge of committing a violent crime in aid of racketeering. The FBI added his name to its Ten Most Wanted list in April.

Gomez, who goes by the nickname “Cholo,” is accused of killing a fellow MS-13 gang member Julio Matute in Plainfield in 2011.

Prosecutors say that after a night of partying Gomez and an accomplice beat Matute with a baseball bat, stabbed him 17 times with a knife and then slit his throat with a screwdriver.

Matute was killed on suspicion that he and members of a rival gang were getting too close.

When police tried to arrest Gomez he jumped out a second-story window and escaped.

Gomez' cohort, who was also an MS-13 member, was caught and convicted.

Gomez was featured in an Aug. 1 FoxNews.com story on the most violent MS-13 gang members being sought by the feds.

President Trump condemned MS-13 in an appearance in July on Long Island where 17 murders have been attributed to the gang since Jan. 1, 2016.

"They kidnap. They extort. They rape and they rob," Trump said. "They stomp on their victims. They beat them with clubs, they slash them with machetes, and they stab them with knives. They have transformed peaceful parks and beautiful quiet neighborhoods into bloodstained killing fields. They're animals."

MS-13 should be thrown into gitmo.

And I guess that's the point. Every group has people on the fringe. When it comes to being anti-government, you had Timothy McVeigh. You have people that are easily swayed and ignited.

When your beliefs lead you to take a car and run over people you feel are your enemy, there's something terribly wrong there. There's a long history about what these groups believe and teach. In their minds and teachings, it's a war. You can't keep preaching war among your own people and not expect these kinds of results eventually.

And while murder is an extreme outcome, hate crimes are most certainly connected.

Illegal Commits Heinous Crimes, Still Can’t Be Deported (This is a very misleading title ... actually its a straight up lie .. it should say he can't be charged) ...

An illegal immigrant has been linked to a series of rapes in New York–but the federal government is unable to charge him, because his crimes happened too long ago.

Ronald Clare Greenland, 54, was linked to several rapes, dating back to the 1990s–after authorities collected his DNA for an unrelated crime last year.

Greenland first snuck into the United States illegally from his home country of Jamaica in the 1980s.

After serving multiple stints in prison–after committing a series of depraved crimes including car theft, arson, and assaulting a police officer–Immigration and Customs Enforcement finally deported him in 2009.

But at some point after 2009, Greenland returned to the United States. He was, eventually, deported a second time in 2015.

Somehow, Greenland was able to sneak back into the country a third time–where he continued his crime spree.

This past November, Greenland was arrested after cops spotted him breaking into a car dealership and attempting to pry the rims off a car in the lot.

Officers chased Greenland from the car dealership–and, when cornered, Greenland pulled out a knife and stabbed Police Officer David Sanchez multiple times in the chest.

Despite the extensive attack, Sanchez survived–but only because he was wearing a police-issue Kevlar vest.

After Sanchez’s stabbing, Greenland was swabbed for DNA. When authorities ran his DNA through their system, they discovered the shocking revelation: that Greenland’s DNA had been collected as evidence off a number of rape victims in the 1990s.

Horrifically, despite clear DNA evidence and a violent criminal in custody, the government is unable to charge Greenland for being a serial rapist. When the rapes were committed in the 1990s, the statute of limitations on sex crimes was only 5 years–which has long since expired.

However, authorities are still confident they can throw Greenland behind bars for another crime: the attempted murder of Officer David Sanchez.

“We’ve got him on attempted murder, so he’s looking at 25 years to life on that alone,” said Westchester County’s Deputy District Attorney, Paul Noto. “Chances are, he’ll die in prison.”

Yeah it was crystal clear he doesn't want to condemn his base and the platform he put them on.

Yet Pence, GOP congressmen and GOP senators even called out the Nazis, White supremacists and skin heads while Trump refused to.

Me thinks I see even more excuses. Of course it's part of the Trump voting base, so there's that.

You are correct that those alone aren't his base, but they are certainly a part of his base. And then you would have to account for people who believe as they do but aren't actually in such a group.
