man that doesn't seem like a good fit at all for Kyrie. oh well. i could easily see them making somewhere between the 4-6 seed due to kyrie not gelling with the celtics team.

i don't want Thomas though ... his defense is quite bad
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

I would guess they would try and trade Thomas for several lesser younger pieces to fill out the roster and have some guys around if/when LeBron leaves.

I would want it too, but I doubt they get it. The Lakers/Kings pick os more realistic (but I don't think they'll get that either).

Cavs and Celtics on verge of a deal: Kyrie Irving for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and 2018 Nets pick unprotected, sources say https://twitter.com/WindhorstESPN/status/900135004868665349They got the Nets pick (it seems).

Very good. We should wait and see if there are any protections on the pick. If there aren't, then the Cavs did really well.

That's as good as we can do IMO

So then...starting lineup.
Tristan (Frye) Kevin (Jefferson/Williams) Lebron (Crowder/Green) JR (Korver/Shump) Isaiah (Rose)
And we could still trade the Nets pick, based on what I'm reading.

trade the unprotected pick for Melo or Cousins?
i'd do it for cousins. omg that would be a squad.

Not sure I like this trade, both Thomas and crowder don't help us beat GS and you send Kyrie to a conference rival. This was all about the potentially first pick next year

They're going to use the pick as insurance ... if LBJ stays, we'll trade it for a piece ... if we think he's leaving, we keep it to rebuild

i'd do it for cousins. omg that would be a squad. They need that pick to help the rebuild if LeBron and/or Thomas leave. I'd try to trade Thomas for Cousins (I don't think the Pelicans would do it, they need to see Davis and Cousins together for awhile).

They have Holiday on a biggish contract. Why would they want Thomas?

I'm trying to look for a silver lining here. Here's one I think we might see.
I think Love is set up to have a monster season without Irving. Irving was so ball dominant that it relegated Love to a spot up shooter. I think the Cavs will make a concerted effort to get Love more involved, especially in the post and on the pick and roll. I think the Cavs were getting 80% of what Love was actually capable of. I think Thomas will be a more willing passer. Increased production from Love plus Thomas's production should make up anything the Cavs are losing with Kyrie.
The biggest issue is that Kyrie possessed the #1 skill needed to win in the NBA. Shot maker when it matters most. LeBron is capable. Thomas is capable. But that is a huge loss.
On a side note, I thought we were going to see Kyrie go to camp with the Cavs and everyone was going to ride this out. There has to be so much going on behind the scenes that the public doesn't know about. I wonder if Kyrie informed the team he wasn't going to show up for camp.

considering Wade alluded to the deal before it happened makes me think there's a LOT going on behind the scenes. Wade will be in CLE in my opinion

Silver lining?
LOL.....I think the Cavs made out on the deal.
Thomas is a bit of an odd fit because he shoots so much. Then again, Kyrie is a bit of an odd fit for Boston.
I like that we got Crowder and the pick.
I wouldn't mind moving Thomas and the first pick for someone or a couple of guys who can help us win NOW!
