I saw a defense that is starting to take control of this game.
Schobert should be our MLB...the D has such a different look with him in there. He is flying all over the place and is way more versatile than Carder. I don't like injuries and I hope Carder's is not serious at all...but I hope that this is a Wally Pip moment.
Collins is all over the place.
Ogbah not getting stats but man does he take on the hard blocks and is control of that corner!
I think Desmond Bryant was with the 2's n 3's...I don't remember seeing him out there with the ONES.
Was it our Run D or was it the Giants inability to run...probably both.
Love our tackling and coverage where we don't give up the long pass.
I'm watching on Channel 7 and recorded the game on that channel...then the President comes on with some speech...First time I yelled at him...lol First game Elliot suspension breaks into our game. 2nd game Trump breaks into our game. So hopefully somebody here in What I saw can describe our drive that gave us a TD making the score 10...
Brock can sit he's shown me that I DO NOT WANT HIM TO BE OUR STARTER...
Kizer makes things exciting and he does move the O better than any of our QBs...but it is SO OBVIOUS he has to sit and learn a lot. Regular season games D's will dial up more disguises. He will make more mistakes. He has been sacked 5 times cause he takes off too soon and wants to run...those are BAD Habit that need to be broken not rewarded.
Kessler is the boring one but he is less apt to make any mistakes. He is throwing 70% on his completion which is why I liked him from the get go. He has not thrown a bomb yet but he has thrown the deep out and is accurate with it. Nothing great but I think the best Bridge QB we got.
Peppers looked great on his punt returns! What a good football player I'm loving the pick.
Njoku should be limited in his use. He seems a little F R A G I L E - it must be Italian - out there his speed is not showing up on the field which tells me he is thinking and not just running his route.
Telfer...his run blocking is pretty good I can't believe he's taking reps away from Devalve but he is.
Hall is the only young WR stepping up and looking for a job. I think he moved ahead of the 3 draft picks of yesteryear.
Our run game is very docile without Crowell. Dayes is a reliable 3rd RB...
I think Alford will not make the team. His decision to run was not good and he's trying to do it all himself...I get it he's fighting for his Football life here. But we got better returners. I think Dayes will be a better returner than Alford for the times we don't use Peppers.
Well enough for now I am curious what you all saw especially those plays on our scoring drive...considering it was the GAME...10-6
Love our D and its just the tip of the iceberg!
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

What i saw a simple reality most of all called before training camp: Kizer was the most talented QB on the roster.
and then during the game, he showed that while he isn't close to be ready.....the reality is that he gives us the best chance to win.
the offense seemed to flow better when he's playing. I didn't like him taking those shots when he scrambled, but he's a rookie so he's gonna do that sometimes.
i thought the defense was flying around. i don't remember the last time we looked so fast as a defense before. we missed some tackles but every team misses tackles, at the end of the day, the entire defense only gave up two FG's.
and we won. don't care if it's only preseason or not, that's another confidence boost for our still very young team.
and peppers.....man i hate michigan but i'm glad we have him on our squad.
coleman had two very good grabs, he looks a bit more comfortable playing.
i thought brock showed why he needs to be a backup and/or traded.

I saw Peppers prove he is going to make an impact
I saw Garret being tackled from behind moments before he could have had a sack. He played against a good LT, and was still pushing him towards the QB.
Schobert played like a legit MLB
Duke doesn't have the explosiveness through the hole that Crow has.
Kizer holding the ball too long.
Kizer making the defense respect his running ablity.
Kessler signing his ticket out of town.
Nassib is getting close just about every play.
Desmond Bryant playing in the fourth quarter.
I saw a defense that is tough, fast, and tackles well.
I saw an offense that needs to name a starter and let him get the reps.
While I really don't want Kizer to start in Pitt, Osweiler is going to be a liability.
RIP, Jim

I am really coming around to your line of thinking on the QBs...although I wish we could 'season' DK.
BO is a larger, less-accurate version of CK. The offense looked dramatically different with DK in the game.

dude i'm scared with what happens to Kizer as well, but he's beating brock for the job and he's the best QB on our roster.
if the point is to play the guys who give us the best chance to win....well it ain't brock, cody, or hogan.

Garrett looked solid out there. Always applying pressure. He's not dominating but he looks good.
Schobert looks like he'll be our most improved this year. Couldn't stand the guy last year but he looks SO much better as a 4-3 MLB than he did as a 3-4 OLB. Night and day.
Defense as a whole looked pretty good. Secondary even looked solid. I loved the McCourty steal of the ball...just outmuscled the receiver.
Offense was pretty meh despite the fact that it looked like the OLine was holding their own against a good Giants front four...even with Bitonio and Thomas out.
Dayes looks like he'll make the team.
QB is still a coinflip with Osweiler and Kizer. If I were to make a choice today though, I'd choose Kizer. I think they need to start Kizer in preseason #3 to get a real sense of what he does consistently against defensive first unit and with his actual line in front of him.

Kizer is just so significantly better. Even with just a raw ability to read a defense, hes significantly better than Brock. Start him, play extraordinarily conservative, and see what happens. Think Big Ben in his first year. Run, run, then run some more, then play action. Better than what Brock or Cody can do.
I think Dayes might be our best talent at running back on our roster. Duke is better suited at slot and Crow is very solid but I think Dayes might be better. Less of a knock on Crow and more a compliment of Dayes.
Coleman looks better. Britt will be steady. The rest? JAGS. We need more here
I love Telfair's ability to block. Devalve is ok, I suspect that he might be better when we start gameplanning and showing more. Njoku...didnt notice. People better not expect much year one, its tough for TEs to play well year one.
I thought Johnson showed promise. The rest, i will rely on you all.
Garret looked likely to get a few sacks. He got nearly tackled on one, no call...oh well. Nassib needs to carry this to the preseason. Coley is awesome. He and Meder were great, I can only imagine the havoc he and Shelton could do. Did Ogunjobi play? Didnt notice. Schult has small arms and looks average athleticly, but he works hard and plays with his hair on fire. Lots of talent.
Collins and Kirksey are an awesome combo. Adding Schobert here is going to make this a very formidable trio. Who made the call near the goalline to call off the blitz? Keep him. That was incredible and cause the defense confusion.
Peppers laid the wood to Marshall and almost got a very unfair penalty. He is a winner and a fire cracker. McCourtey and BBC are by far the best corners on this team. This unit held a good passing attack to nothing, great showing.
Gregg Williams looks like a mastermind.
Zane!
Team is going to be heavily hamstrung on offense, but this defense is ready.
you had a good run Hank.

Re-watching the game now. Beckham is such a little bitch.
I don't think Brock made ONE legit throw today.
Kizer in now.

yo to me it looked like the thing that bothers him wasn't the shot to the leg, but his head slamming on the turf.
for some reason i thought he was using the leg as an excuse to cover up a possible concussion

Kiser missed Njoku on a seam route that probably would have gone the distance. Njoku beat his man badly off the line and had a step or two on him. If Kiser threw that with a little more touch, TD. He knew it too.

Thanks Tab.
I really don't have a lot to add but will reiterate how the defense really took control of the game. Just sooo good to see at this stage of pre-season.
I saw both Brock and Kiser struggling to move the ball but Kiser managed the game much better and helped himself with his running and scrambling.

He knew it too. Call me crazy...but I'm a little discouraged on Njoku. I didn't love the pick when we made it but didn't hate it either. Letting go of Barnidge as a result of picking Njoku raised expectations and needs for him to be solid out of the gate. Right now, he feels like a niche project player. I still have hope and I like some of the skills he brings as a player. But I kinda feel like we overdrafted him.

I can't say Njoku has Winslow talent ... and I can't say he doesn't. He literally has done nothing yet. He's one of the guys who I've heard least about.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Njoku should have had a TD, or a very long gain, but Kizer overthrew him.
I, for one, love the "look" of our Defense so far. It looks and feels different in a good way. I love the aggressive nature and the attitude that comes along with it. It's nice to have an actual Defensive Coordinator with experience and a track record of having top defenses under his belt.
I think Garrett got held on a couple of plays and could have sacked Eli.

There was a slow-mo replay of Garret getting the edge and off to the QB with the LT behind him and his ARM wrapped around Garret's neck - The announcers just stopped talking and didn't say anything I thought they were maybe stunned. So is this a dues thing for a rookie player??? man an obvious hold.
On Kizer's 5 runs. 3 were by design other two were improvising. Hue stated on one of the runs...you have to slide. Kizer said he wanted to get hit to see how it felt like...Hue said NO NO NO!!! Slide. thought that was funny.
I like Nassib - I hope he makes it...the kid just overachieves! Kirksey another solid game glad we signed him.
We got to remember the kid Njoku is just 20
Vers my reference is it looks like he just isn't fully developed...he might become great who knows but right now mentally nor physically I think he needs some growing to do. My reference is that every collision he makes he seems to be the guy on the ground although I think he got rolled on from behind one time. Ergo my reference to A Christmas Story when the pops is opening this crate with FRAGILE all over it and he goes Fra...Gi...Leeee - IT MUST BE ITALIAN.
I think Osweiller is getting the starting job. He had only 2 series yesterday which meant Hue has no need to see more of him...he wanted to see the young guys...Kizer and Kessler.
Its been a long time since we had a killer D!!!

When stating Kizer is better QB, I disagree, he's slow out of huddle, play calling is slow, progressions slow, he called back interception could easily been pick six...granted he has strongest arm and has more mobility....that doesn't make him the better QB NOW....GO Browns!!! PS and he stated he wanted to get hit while running so "the guys" would know he could take a lick....STUPID, Johnny "alcoholic" Manziel found out quickly you get hurt when hit by grown men. JMHO, he ain't ready.....GO Browns!!!!

Ok
So here is what I saw, mostly impressions that have been echoed by others.
The defense looks a lot better this year with Williams as coordinator. It may be competitive at this point, and an asset versus a liability.
Players that flashed, Peppers, Garrett, Coley, BBC, Schobert, especially. That is something.
Offensively, eh... I hope Crowell and the other players out will make a difference.
The big drama, as it is every year is QB, so I will weigh in. BO consistently throws high and is inaccurate. Kizer is young, but has a better arm, and legs. For the on the field play there is really no comparison, but I don't know how he is picking up the playbook, so that decision is up to Hue.
He almost made a big play to Njoku, who I thought should have caught the ball. That would have been a TD.
Njoku is probably a year away, but is a man-child in terms of talent. I don't know how much he will contribute initially, but maybe later in the season, he will begin to move up the depth chart.
Dayes is a lock for the team.
The rest of the wide receivers are interchangeable at this point, although I suspect that Louis and Higgins will stick.
I am looking forward to the Tampa game. The third preseason game is the best opportunity to see what is going on.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!…. That did not age well.

There were a few articles about Brock and Kizer shortening their strides as part of fixing their mechanics. Before one of Brock's air mailed overthrows, I remember thinking that the step he took during the throw was super long. It seems to me like he is reverting to bad habits when the bullets are flying.

Hmmm... -I saw a defense that played an aggressive and complete 4 quarters... they seem to be pretty well conditioned too as I really think they could have played a 5th quarter at full speed! -Schobert is looking legit this year. Last year he seemed like he was just filling a spot on the field. -Haden looked like he got caught flat footed more than usual. I'd like to see him playing with better technique that he's shown in the past. -Dayes has a lot of promise. -Coleman had a couple of nice grabs but his QBs didn't set him for any YAC I guess the biggest thing for me was that it looks like we can finally EXECUTE THE SCREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw some serious starters sitting, quite a number of them. kessler seems to have cemented his grip on the scout team. BO showed me he still knows how to give up cheap picks at the LOS. If only he were taller . . ..
I noticed how much I hate preseason, especially with snarky bad announcers handing out putdowns like Halloween candy. Sure beats doing a good job.
Like this defense. This is called a streak.

I saw our backup WR's out play the starters. again. Who exactly outplayed our starters? No one in the passing game really shined at WR. Coleman had the most catches, most yardage, and longest reception of the wideouts. I'd also argue he likely made the toughest/best catch. Plus he caught both his targets. Hall went 2 of 3. It is somewhat a tallest midget argument, but the Giants are a good D and JT still hasn't played.

Grimm, I think you hit the nail on the head. Brock can look good in practice but when it's game time, he starts over throwing, having bad form..etc.
I really wanted the Browns to atleast sit Kizer past Pitt and Balt. But now it will be Baptism by fire! And Hue has to call a conservative game.
