Have you read both?

For those who don't know, if you're into fantasy, Sanderson's Stomlight Archive is wonderful.

Much better than his Mistborn Series.

It's not Game Of Thrones Quality, but it's pretty much just one step down. Very well thought out good story, and the writer actually loves to write, or at least he hasn't run out of ideas yet

I've recently read 5 of the 6 books in the series and watched the TV production on SyFi. Also love Bosch on Amazon and read all of Michael Connolly's books.

Just to be clear.............I love reading on my Kindle. The white light means I don't need to have lights on or wear my reading glasses [yeah, I'm old..LOL] They are smaller and lighter than regular books. You don't have to forcibly hold the pages open and you save some trees.

That first book in Game of Thrones was a bit tough on it, though. That was all I was saying.

yeah I've read both, I have Oathbringer downloaded but haven't had a chance to start it yet..It focuses on Dalinar, so I think I'll like it as much as Kings, Shallan is meh for me but I still enjoyed book two. Funny thing about Mistborn was he put Way of kings on hold to finish that trilogy. Way of Kings was slated for 2003. I think he has like 9-10 books planned for this series

I think last year they sold the rights to do a movie adaptation on Way of Kings...that should be interesting...If hes going to do 10 books, might make a good series

You should watch the show anyway. The show has changed some characters and cut characters out. The most important is probably Stoneheart. I think the books and show seem to be pretty different based on season 5. GRRM refers to them having different 'life'. GRRM rights painfully slow. But if you forget about it, it's not too bad. He did stop working on every other project he was writing. He hasn't wrote a script for the series in 3 years. He says that takes about a month to write. Which is crazy considering he's just adapting it.

Episode 6 was accidentally aired by HBO Spain. It's all over the net. I'm not gonna spoil anything if you haven't seen it but it's pretty epic.

And frustrating. When you see it, I'm sure you'll know why.

I saw it as well.

This episode was better but I've been very disappointed with the past two seasons. To me they've just been filler to get to the final ending which GRRM clued them in on. Without the books to lean on, I think the show has taken a huge dive. Rating won't illustrate that because the show it such a phenomenon, but I see the show product being very different in seasons 1-5 than 6-7.

That said, I'm not going to stop watching it. I got to see how they present Rhaegar Targaryan.

Question for anyone/everyone. My apologies in advance for sidetracking the convo.

I started watching the show about 1.5 years ago, and now I'm all caught up with the most recent episode. Is it worth it for me to go back and read all of the books?

Thank you for any and all input.

I really like the books... Story lines are close but different... Several story lines from the books didn't make it into the show.... If like reading I'd go back and read them...

On a side note I'm gonna be pissed if my power is out Sunday night from Harvey....

I love the show, but if you are a good reader [and I'm assuming you are because you seem like an intelligent guy,] the books are way better. There is so much more detail, character development, and plot twists than a less than 1 hour show several times a year can cover.

Over/Under on a Rhaegar Targaryan flashback is at 8 minutes long. Any takers?

Holy crap! That episode was awesome!

I heard [not sure if it is true] that next year's episodes are going to be 2 hours long and that they may make movies after that.

Predictions for season 8:

- Cersei is still on Arya's list. Arya and the Hound will confront Cersei and the Mountain. I have a sneaking suspicion that LittleFinger's face will come into play to trick Cersei. And who doesn't want more dialog between Arya and the Hound? I think Brienne will be involved with that somehow too.

- All 3 dragons will die (permanently) with one of them saving their mother heroically (probably Drogon).

- Dany's pregnant.

- Dany freaks out a bit when she finds out John is the actual heir to the throne that she has been trying so hard to retake.

- Knight King is actually Bran and then is killed by Kingslayer himself.

- Another ending that wouldn't surprise me at all? The White Walkers win as a complete ending to everything. In a series that has never failed to kill anyone off for shock value, this could be the final "Didn't see that coming" moment.

I'd like to see arya kill Cereseai but I think it's going to Be Jamie.... I agree that we'll see little fingers face somewhere again

The hound vs the moutian will be epic...

Dragon fighting is going to be epic... I actually think the two good dragons live....

Dany is most defintly pregnant...

I don't think the king is bran... I've heard that theory... I think he was a stark but not bran....

Didn't make it into the budget. tongue

Actually, there was a deleted scene where Jon said goodbye to Ghost when he left Winterfell for Dragonstone. That's all I know. Overall, I think they've done a pretty crappy job with the Direwolves, but in terms of CGI cost, IMO it came down to them or the Dragons. They chose dragons and killed off the wolves.

It is the only show I watch on TV.

I watch sports and Game of Thrones. That's it. They have a ton of followers and viewers. I don't think they are clueless.
