Ramirez with our only two hits, 2 solo HR's. Severino is throwing gas, hitting 100 consistently in the 6th.

Zimmer scores on a single, stolen base, throwing error, and wild pitch. So all hits have scored themselves so far.

Corey Kluber is really fun to watch. Every time he steps on the mound, you almost expect a win. He really is a machine. I'm glad they got him some run support this time out.

Kluber gave up a run and ruined our shutout streak. What a bum! Trade him! Yeah, get that bum outta here!

KLUUUUUU!!! I made up this new chant. Darn. Unfortunately, tonight's game could be in jeopardy for a rain-out. There's a big storm moving up the coast that looks like it's gonna be hitting New York City around game time. KLLLUUUUUU!!!

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Speaking of storms, I get the feeling that the Tribe won't have a shot at the World Series this year. If they even get there, they would have to get past that Dodgers juggernaut, but I'm also thinking that Hurricane Harvey is going to turn the Astros into one of those, "Win it for the Hometown" stories, sort of like how the Saints rallied and won the Super Bowl in the months after Katrina.

Yeah, I couldn't get an image of current New Jersey radar to print.
Let me try again.
But the last time I looked, there was a broad area of steady rain headed straight for NYC.

You'd think Connecticut is gonna get soaked by this storm, but predictions are it takes a sharp right hand turn any minute and heads into the Atlantic.
Not raining here. Rocky Hill is about 20 miles from the current (4 pm est) northern most fringe.

Home plate umpire really screwed him on strike zone it looked like to me. Seemed to have painted a number of important pitches. He is tough, but I think he was even tougher than he got "credit" for behind the plate. He is fun to watch!

Or how a team named 'Patriots' happened to become a juggernaut right after 9/11, or how the Steelers won a Super Bowl being played in Jerome Bettis' hometown the year he decided to retire, or Denver wins when Elway is on his way out, or Denver wins when Peyton is on his way out, or the Ravens win right after opening the flood gates of teams being able to blackmail home cities for new stadiums after leaving Cleveland, etc, etc...

Beautiful day out here for an extremely rare all-day doubleheader. Baseball from 1pm 'till 8pm, Just like the old days. Great day to spend at Yankee stadium. But, I hope the Tribe rains on the parade.

I haven't watched/listened a lot of the Yankees this year, just when they play the Tribe. Their catcher is awful, makes you appreciate Yan and Perez even though they aren't the best batters.

Sanchez is a net positive at catcher on defense. He is terrible at blocking balls, but has one of the best arms in the league and is an above-average pitch framer. On top of that he's the second best hitting catcher in the league (behind Buster Posey). He's also only 24 years old.

Sanchez was definitely net positive behind the plate so far today. If you don't count his passed ball which allowed one run to score immediately and Ramirez to move into scoring position and score on Diaz's single. Sanchez single-handedly won the game. For the Indians. 2-1. I love watching him catch with a man on third. He's the best. Why'd they charge the pitcher an earned run on that second run? LOOK-OUT GARY! IN-COMING!!!

I got to watch all Sanchez’s at bats against the Tribe this year.
Let me look at the Yankee-Indians box scores for Sanchez this year:
3-1 4-0 3-0 4-0 4-0 4-1
Let’s see, hold-on, 18 at-bats and, hold-on 1 + 1 carry the none = 2.
2 for 18. OK that’s not bad. .111. I think his slugging % approached .200. Wow.
I love small sample sizes.
But I’m sure his W.A.S.* was great.
- Wow Ah Suck.
Oh wait 0-2 so far in game two for Sanchez.
But only one of them was an inning-ending double play.
2 for 20 an even .100. (but it’s only the 4th inning)
Thankfully he's only 24.

Of course I'm leaving myself wide-open. Especially if the Yankees and Indians meet in the play-offs.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, its 8-1 Indians in the 7th inning of Game 2 of the DH, after winning Game 1. Good times, indeed. Ryan Merritt might be our Jamie Moyer.

For those who don't know, Jamie Moyer was a soft-tossing lefty who used superior command and ever-changing speeds to win 269 games over a 25+ year career. Of course its hyperbole to compare Merritt to him. But a boy can dream, right? https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/moyerja01.shtml

I cannot believe that Merritt gave up a run in only 5.1 innings!] Send this bum back to the minors! 9-1 good guys, top of the 9th.

I remember Moyer well, he was a marvel, you look at the gun and you're like how the hell is this guy a major league pitcher, Hell I was in high school and could get close to 90mph on a 4 seamer and I'm watching this guy throwing 70's and low 80s and just destroying people. He did give up the long ball quite a bit, ala our own soft tosser Tomlin

So it looks like Kluber is the odd man out once Tomlin is activated.
Hopefully Tito will give him some middle inning relief to work on that .890 WHIP.

Interesting. Greg Allen called up by IndiansThe Cleveland Indians have made a surprise roster move and called up outfielder Greg Allen as part of the September roster expansion. Allen is currently not on the 40-man roster, so a move will have to be made before he can officially be called up. Per Keith Law, the Indians plan on doing so tomorrow. Allen, who was drafted in the sixth round of the 2014 draft, became a fan-favorite among Akron RubberDucks fans last year with his impressive .290/.399/.441 slash, great outfield defense, and speed on the bases. His 2016 campaign was so successful, that he was almost shipped away in the failed Jonathan Lucroy trade. But he remained with the Indians, and now he’s getting his shot in the majors. Though Allen missed all of July with a wrist injury, he’s still slashing .259/.340/.349 with 20 stolen bases for the ‘Ducks this season. He is 32-for-111 in August, including a couple length hitting streaks and eight doubles. With his speed, contact ability, and tendency to be placed at the top of a lineup, Allen has received a lot of comparisons to former Indians great, Kenny Lofton. That’s a lot to live up to, and he may not be an everyday center fielder in Cleveland if Bradley Zimmer ever gets his [censored] back together, but he has a bright future, for sure. https://www.letsgotribe.com/2017/8/31/16...ns-transactions
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

water above: What the deal on Naquin ? I've wondered this too. Regardless of his drop-off at the end of last summer in the majors, he did finish at: AB....Ave....HR 321. .296... 14 Very solid numbers for a rookie. But he did strike out 112 times. Too much. (that's close to 200 SO for a whole season) My guess is Tito told him what to work on during last off-season (to cut-down on the strike-outs), but Naquin didn't do it. (disciplinary problem)

(disciplinary problem) Naquin has been injured this season. He got called up, but was sent back down when the Indians needed another bullpen arm. I have heard/read nothing about him being a "disciplinary problem". Rather, he has been very willing to work on the things the team wants him to work on. In AAA Columbus, this year, Naquin has hit .296 with an OBP of .356, a slugging% of .469, and an OPS of .825. He has struck out only 67 times in 310 plate appearances. I think that Tyler running into injury issues, along with the early success Zimmer saw, have been the biggest problems he has faced this year. He has been praised for his effort and hard work in the minors.

Naquin is a below average fielder who also has trouble catching up with big league fastballs at the plate. You can't teach bat speed.

He has been praised for his effort and hard work in the minors. I see. And that's why Greg Allen leap-frogged Naquin going directly from AA to Cleveland. Despite the fact Naquin has better numbers than Allen this year in AAA ball. I’m pretty sure the pitchers in AAA are better than AA. Including fastballs. So apparently there’s something you’re not reading or hearing.
