Cameron Erving is being shopped by the Cleveland Browns

BEREA, Ohio - The Browns are trying to trade former first-round receiver Cameron Erving, a league source told cleveland.com.

Erving, the No.19 overall pick in 2015 out of Florida State, was competing for the right tackle job before he suffered a calf injury last week that has him week-to-week.

Now, it's second-year lineman Shon Coleman's job.

Erving started 13 games last season, including 12 at center, where he struggled with the demands of the position. This preseason, he said he felt much more comfortable at right tackle, where he didn't have to be responsible for sliding the protections and all the other responsibilities at center.

Erving is under contract for two more years, with a club option for a fifth year. He's set to make almost $1.3 million this year, and $1.72 million next year.

Erving is one of a number of players being shopped by the Browns, including Pro Bowl cornerback Joe Haden.

If we get anything for him it's a steal

Maybe we can re-acquire the ham sandwich we gave up for Hillis a few years back. That's about Erving's value

Literally, anything... anything at all. Nothing to read here, there are undrafted people out there probably a better prospect than Erving.

Sad to say, but he's been nothing while coming here. At any position. I do think under the Pettine regime having him play all those positions his rookie year and etc was hurtful to his mindset and growth, but the kid still has done nothing.

He's guaranteed let a guy bully him, and a guaranteed flag for offsides.

Another wasted pick.. Sad to say it. I get why they took him, Mack was likely to leave and we needed a replacement. Good thinking, wrong guy.

Another lesson learned.

Most folks saw him as a pretty safe bet...which at the time we needed horribly after a few round 1 busts in a row. Instead he just added to the list..

sometimes it's tough to draft a "replacement" ... you can force yourself into taking the wrong guy. Not sure if that's the case with Cam, but man, he sucked.

IMO he's gotten a bad rap here and our fans have been pretty tough on the kid. Maybe a fresh start with another team is what he really wants at this point anyways. Probably a good move for both sides.

We should be trying to trade Erving for literally anything (like we did with Justin Gilbert). If we cut him, we take a cap hit of $5,571,722. If we trade him, we take a cap hit of $2,558,752

I would literally try and trade him for a conditional 7th round pick in 2030.

He has proven to be to weak and slow to play the NFL game.

When you lack quickness and strength the NFL is no place to make a living.

Why not? I've heard that excuse his first two years, why not keep it going. WR is one place he hasn't busted yet.

I would help if I could. Get something for him. Tired of his "turn and chase" technique.

Our QB life expectancy goes up if we move him. A new vending machine would help us more.

LOL.

Receiver, huh? Well, I have seen plenty of daylight and separation between him and who he is supposed to be blocking. He is STILL playing out of position! After years of experimenting . . . .

He is another in a long line of 1st round busts. I feel he has no future here so maybe a fresh start will do him good. I say trade him to at least get something and not take the big cap hit.

He'd probably make for a better NBA center than an NFL one.

Not really. He wouldn't get any blocks there either.

Erving still on the roster and Haden is gone.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Read somewhere Haden wanted to be released or traded. Guy didn't want to be here...

I don't know where you read it, but Haden has always loved being here. My guess is that's BS.
