yeah, it'll be an interesting decision about BO. A lot might have to do with Hue's gut feeling about BO being a good teammate and not ruffling any feathers with Kizer. BO was not well-liked in Houston.
Simple solution: offer to pay 12 million of his salary and trade him to JAX, BAL, IND, BUF, or whoever, for a late round pick
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
From the get go its well known to all that if we do move him we are eating at least 8 mil of his salary...we got mega room still in our cap. Its money we were not going to use and we got at least the 2nd rounder. Its not like well we could have used that money to pay somebody else. Why? We have the money if it was in our plans we would have regardless of what Brock will cost.
I doubt we cut him but I think if a trade is there we jump on it now and eat a good portion and be done with the cap hit for 2018.

WHY DO THE BROWNS SUDDENLY HAVE A NEED FOR WR HELP?
This front office drafted 4 wrs in 2016, using their analytics to pick the best wr talent. This season, the front went out and signed the best free agent talent available..a 1000 yd receiver, Kenny Britt.
Britt was deemed so good, Sashi Brown had no need re-sign Pryor to a 1 yr "show me" contract. Sashi and his group kicked Pryor to the curb, showing that they had no need for additional WR help.
So what changed between kicking Pryor to the curb and now?
Pretty sure Pryor turned down our better offer to take less at Wash...I guess don't let facts get in the way of FO bashing
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday. -John Wayne
They could have given Pryor the one year deal to buy them some time to shore up the position. Let's not pretend like that didn't happen.
Once again, you have the answer. Of course, via the ability to use hindsight yet again.
Have you ever dealt with a current, fluid situation where you need to make a decision at the current time?
Yes, and sometimes mistakes are made in those situations. It seems like they decided to opt for Britt and let Pryor leave. I think that's a mistake. It's okay to admit you made a mistake once in a while.
Overall I like this FO and what they've done. But they're human too. And as such they will and have made some mistakes. It's okay if fans admit that.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
Overall I think this FO has done a great job, if you look at our roster you can see it is much better and has more quality talent than maybe the 2002 team ...

I have no issues with the front office trying to trade players. I just hope that they've cleared it with the players in advance to make it public or else it's just kind of messy.
We're not talking about QB's. We're talking about our dire need at WR and how badly our FO is trying to trade for one.
I know you try to stick up for this FO no matter what. Usually I am too because overall they are doing a great job IMO
But here, in this case? They simply made a mistake by putting us in this position at WR. They made a mistake drafting four WR's last year in a very poor WR class.
Seriously Tab. They're doing a good job but it's okay to admit that they are human and will make a mistake once in a while.

I agree PitDAWG this FO is doing a great job, but, WR is top Priority next draft (if we don't need a QB) for a reason ...

Don't worry about disclaiming my opinion - stick to yours and make it hold some water instead of trying to throw mud at mine....oh wait I know who will pop in now and add on...lol
3 WRs...and I was the first to state that btw on draft day. Stating I didn't like the fact that we draft 3 mid round WRs in a draft not noted as strong. I always liked the Coleman pick.
Still its not this Glaring Black hole you fantasy coaches think WRs hold this humongous value...lol
They don't we need route runners and good hands.
I wanted Pryor to stay but it didn't turn out that way. Mistake? WRs are out there every year. Its a load of BS about how desperate we are to have a WR.
But you really don't listen to what I write. It wasn't not this MAJOR MISTAKE...but it was not the best move and I said it on DAY ONE. SO cut the crap about me admitting this and that. Just read me a little better!

If the Browns had resigned Pryor they would still need a WR. He's not very good.
I believe the Browns liked Pryor on a 4 year deal but not a 1 year deal for various reasons...his commitment, his attitude when combined with his commitment, his longer term prospects in years 2, 3, and 4 of the deal, the ability to cut him if he never materialized, etc. The Browns didn't let Pryor walk over a 1 year deal. He was never a consideration at 1 year.
And again, let's be very clear about something. The Browns are hurting at WR with or without him.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...
Stop getting your panties in a bunch. We both think this FO is good. We are weak at WR and part of the reason for that is we don't have Pryor. We could have signed him to a one year deal to buy time to shore up the position. This FO made a mistake there. This isn't rocket science.

No mistake, at all. Pryor just simply chose to leave.
He was, and is, a project that regularly disappeared. He's more athletic freak than receiver, and that isn't enough to warrant a sizable "show me" 1-year contract just to then be in a place to bid on him again.
It's a solid gamble to let him have his year and then maybe get him back next year after he has a down year and again doesn't command the $16 million per year he is chasing.
He's athletic, but beyond that, he's really just a guy. Better than the guys we drafted, so far, sure, but mostly based purely on athleticism. I'm betting that a year of NOT being coached by our WR's coach has him regressing (like you see him disappearing so far in Washington's preseason where he has only 2 catches for 28 yards).
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.
That athletic guy did as well as Britt who was an eight year veteran. One has just tapped his potential and the other has at least peaked.
I'll tell you what, after this season plays out, then tell me it wasn't a mistake. Tell me how it wouldn't have been smarter to pay Pryor a little more for a one year deal than to sign Britt to four years.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
He had totals that were as good as that veteran, but that veteran did it with a whole lot fewer receptions. I'm not sure about total number of targets.
I can tell you now it wasn't a mistake, even if Pryor lights it up this year. No matter what, it would have been a one year rental, then he is bolting to the highest bidder - guaranteed.
We're trying to build a little continuity and raise a team together, far more likely than not, Pryor was in no way going to be here for the long haul.
Edit: Britt had 68 receptions, Pryor had 77 - close enough to be a wash, but the question still is out there on number of targets.
Edit #2: Britt was targetted 113 times, Pryor 129. Britt caught 62.8% of his passes, Pryor caught 58.9%

Sometimes stubbornness and pride can be your enemy.
Good description of Pryor!
" The problem seems to be that we obviously needed Pryor a lot more than he needed us."
Terrelle Pryor caught 1-of-4 targets for 17 yards in the Redskins' third preseason game. One of Pryor's missed connections was a bad drop. Pryor seemed to be looking upfield before securing the ball. It caps a quiet summer, one that saw Pryor catch two passes while muffing three more
They could have given Pryor the one year deal to buy them some time to shore up the position. Let's not pretend like that didn't happen.
They could have done that indeed. But the quote from Mac was that Pryor was surplus and Britt was preferred. That is NOT the case and is fabrication. . . Pryor was offered the best multiyear contract anyone in the NFL offered him -- that's not surplus to requirements. That's not being kicked to the curb. They only went after Britt AFTER Pryor decided he did not want to sign a multiyear contract with the Browns.
Pryor is not on the team - that's a fact and he chose to take the prove it deal with Washington .... the other stuff about kicking him out and Britt being viewed as a better WR is nonsense.
The more things change the more they stay the same.
