You seem to fail to take into account what a terrible WR class it was to begin with. If a WR class is strong, you can get better talent in the mid rounds. When a class sucks at WR, that's exactly what you get in the mid rounds. Sucktitude. And that's what we got! lol

It was/is universally understood that the draft was rather weak at WR. However, two of the four were still 5th Rd picks...not top 100 guys chosen overall. (Louis was #114.) All too often the discussion turns hysterical and one would think we drafted a WR in each of the first four rounds...in a draft where we only had the usual 7 picks to burn. That said, there HAD to be other guys taken in the 5th+ that would have been better risks than the two guys we took there. I'm much more disappointed in who we took, than the fact that they took 2 WR flyers in the 5th Rd of a draft that they started out with 14 picks...14...that's twice as many as 7. If we started with 7 picks and did what they did, I'd be wringing my hands myself...but 2 out of 14? Draftees #154 and #172? Nope.

People can spin it anyway they like in regards to when our receivers were taken, but the bottom line is that the unit is poor.
That's going to make it tough on our rookie qb.

People can spin it anyway they want and everyone watching knows the WR unit is poor, yet taking an odd flyer on 2 players out of 14 choices overall does not constitute some sort of edict or indictment on those making the choices...even though 2 of those guys aren't proving to be very good.
Some people will refuse to see that the POINT is that the hand-wringing over the choices is silly...even if the choices turned out to be bad ones.

When you pick four WR's in one draft, you are obviously trying to address the position. They didn't.

When you take the shotgun approach, you're hoping at least one will stick. It was probably the smart way to go with a poor draft class. At this point, the jury's still out.

2016 Draft class:
Coleman Ogbah Nassib Schobert DeValve Kindred Coleman
If we don't hit on one of the three WR, it still looking like a good Draft overall.

I think the jury is still out on most of the players you listed as well.
Let's take DeValve for instance. We heard tons of great things about him during training camp, but I certainly didn't see much of that during pre season.
It looks like there is some talent among those of whom you listed, but can we actually make a statement about that before they actually produce?

A lot of people base things on hope rather than evidence. And that's okay.

When you make 14 picks and get another guy in a trade...then pick up a waiver guy or two (BBC) you will 'win-some lose-some'.

I was listening to the post game talk on the radio last night on the way home from work and the 2 guys on the show brought up what another guy had said about our WRs. He said that it's not that our WRs can't catch it's that they don't get enough separation and the QB has to be perfect with all his throws to complete the pass, he also said that even the great Tom Brady isn't always perfect with everyone of his throws but even his slightly inaccurate ones are usually completions because his WRs get separation so even if the pass is slightly behind them they can still make the catch without it being contested. I also wonder if this is maybe why Kessler doesn't throw down field as much as he should, maybe he just doesn't trust that it will be caught by our WRs and not intercepted.

I thought DeValve caught a 35 yard pass in last nights game? As for the rest (-Nassib), they will be starters. If you can find 5 starters out of any Draft, then I think thats pretty good.

Did you see that TD pass he had against the Lions? That ball was perfectly placed on a bomb...and that dude was double-covered.

Sometimes you have to ask yourself where players rate in the league. About half of our roster are rookies and second year players. Sometimes people start because they're the best you have at the position, not because they've proven anything, yet.
I understand that you're making projections, but it seems to me like you're making judgements before the jury is in.

You earn the right to start by beating the players on your roster. That doesn't actually indicate that they are good players. It means that's the best you have. With as many first and second year players that we have on our roster, I think it's pretty obvious that in many cases the competition is pretty weak.

The Jets could flip Kearse quickly.

Martavis Bryant - WR - Steelers
The NFL has granted Martavis Bryant full reinstatement following his 2016 year-long suspension.
As expected. Bryant crossed all the Ts and dotted all the Is, and he will be in uniform starting against the Browns in Week 1, where Bryant will immediately be a high-upside WR2 play in fantasy. Over his two NFL seasons, Bryant finished top 15 among fantasy wideouts in points per game twice. Antonio Brown and Ben Roethlisberger's per-game stats are also improved by Bryant's return because the offense is so much better. Bryant changes coverage and is a true on-field difference maker, even on plays where he isn't targeted.

True, and in some cases.........you might get a job depending on which regime picked you, even if you are not the better than the player that is let go. I think the constant changing of regimes has killed this franchise.

And watch they'll be a change after this year. Cutting your second best QB and a starting quality OL to keep guys who aren't as good. It's so Browns.

Not to mention your best corner. I don't disagree with them releasing him. He is really awful at the moment. I think the Steelers are hoping to catch lightning in a bottle with a change is scenery. I don't think it is going to work.

Bears released WR Victor Cruz.
It speaks volumes that Cruz couldn't even make the Bears' roster after Cameron Meredith went down with a season-ending ACL tear. The 30-year-old salsa enthusiast finally stayed healthy last season, but managed just 586 receiving yards and went his last 14 games without scoring a touchdown. Cruz's career is hanging by a thread.

Vikings waived WR Moritz Bohringer.
A sixth-round pick last year, Bohringer spent his rookie season on the practice squad, but the Vikings are not expected to stash him again this year. A great athlete at 6-foot-4, 225 pounds, it is likely someone lets him occupy a practice squad slot.
