Cruz just hasn't been the same since injury I guess.

It'll be interesting to see who the Steelers release in terms of WR

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Leslie @ 1:04 one handed grab.

Hall @ 1:31 darn good moves to get open and catch

Leslie @ 2:52 beautiful throw and great job getting separation.

http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/media-cen...b6-a0ede835e2a5

second link has slow mo replays an better angles.

Britt with a difficult catch and got popped...nice

I am at the point that I would rather see Leslie and Hall take over for Higgans and Payton.

Thanks for the clip ... I'd definitely take Hall/Leslie first. They've looked better to my untrained eye

Let's take DeValve for instance. We heard tons of great things about him during training camp, but I certainly didn't see much of that during pre season.

Just curious what did you see that turned you off?
I saw us utilizing Telfer for the Run game and us taking a good look at him even playing him in the 2nd half of the Bears game.

Same with Seth we used him a lot in preseason. Mostly with the QBs that won't start.

I saw a concerted effort to use certain players to get a good look at them. I still see Devalve positives and we should actually see more of them in the regular season. I know we made an effort to win in preseason but for the most part you can't do too much evaluating unless you see a flaw in skill or technique which I did not see any in Seth...I Assumed he had problems blocking cause of Telfer...but I didn't see them.

Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off!

Has anyone seen the WRs we have left (Higgins, Leslie, Louis, etc) play special teams? And how they faired? I'm sure they may be a deciding factor on whom we keep...I honestly only watched them play on O...where it seems like everyone disappears minus Leslie shining with the back-ups.

I remember noticing Louis on ST's last year...and I've read about Payton being good on ST's this year - although I don't remember seeing that.

Yes, Louis is the best of the 3. Higgins is the worst.

Actually Tab nothing really turned me off about him. But it's kinda like with every training camp. People pimp some players like they're the best thing since sliced bread and when they put the pads on, they don't quite live up to the hype you've heard during training camp. Let's just call it the Ben Gay effect. lol

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I think that you have Louis too low on that list.

Man did they ever. it was almost night and day.

We need WR help and they were just sitting there staring them in the face...now that to me is dropping the ball.

I would have dropped Higgins and Payton and kept those two...

Williams I thought was one of the best wideouts I saw this entire preseason. He looked like he did before the lisfranc at Washington. If he can stay healthy he is very similar to Mike Williams. Vicious run blocker, he will out physical corners for the ball. You aren't gonna see corners wanting to come up and jam this kid at the line. Tremendous catch radius.

When you have a deep ball passer like Kizer, I want him to have receivers that are gonna win the 1 on 1 balls. Coates and Coleman are your burners but this kid is your mike Williams, Vincent Jackson type receiver.

Seems like every year there is some unknown WR that impresses us and we want him to stick, but he doesn't. And no one else picks him up.

I had him as a target mostly based on the highlights, but I was a little disappointed when I looked at the preseason week 4 game after we signed him. I don't know if he thought he'd made the Seahawk's roster or what, but he seemed kind of complacent. If you can't keep up the energy in Seattle, it's not a good sign.

He could still work out, and there could have been something else going on. Hopefully he brings the elements you mentioned. I'll be keeping an eye on him.

Williams receptions that I witnessed in preseason where all 9 routes. Does that not give you pause for concern?

Not really because it is preseason and its not real games. They may have just wanted to work the fades to see how he would do or it may have been something the QBs weren't throwing well in practice. You get to see a bit of his route tree against Stanford in this video.

New Browns WR Kasen Williams: 'I think I can do something good for this team'
Posted 23 hours ago

Patrick Maks
Staff Writer
Twitter

Williams shined in preseason with Seahawks

Kasen Williams put together what was one of the statistically best preseasons of any wide receiver last month.

So when the Seahawks waived the young wide receiver this past weekend, he was disappointed but far from discouraged.
“That was the last thing that I was thinking, based off of the preseason that I had,” said Williams, who was claimed by the Browns on Sunday off waivers. “But at the end of the day I couldn’t control the decision that they made. I was just ready to move on and go play for a team that saw me as the guy that I think I am.”

Williams believes he can have success in Cleveland as the Browns hope to surround rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer with playmakers in a pass game that struggled last season.
“I think I can do something good for this team and especially on a team that is looking to turn things around,” he said Wednesday.

“I definitely want to be a part of that. Coming from the Seahawks where they are winning Super Bowls and going playoff berths every year and all that stuff and coming to this team is a little different, but I like the atmosphere around here. The guys are excited and the guys want to do something great and I just want to be a part of that.”

At 6-foot-1 and 219 pounds, Williams gives the Browns a big, young receiver capable of using that frame against smaller defenders. After catching nine passes for 208 yards and a touchdown in four preseason games, head coach Hue Jackson said the 25-year-old “has a knack for making plays on the ball anywhere and everywhere.”

“He goes and gets the football. That’s documented. That’s seen,” Jackson continued. “He does it as well as anybody I have seen.

And much like former Steelers receiver Sammie Coates, whom the Browns traded for Saturday, and rookie Reggie Davis (who they claimed off waivers), Cleveland hopes the newcomers can help round out a position group that includes 2016 first-round draft pick Corey Coleman and veteran Kenny Britt.

“We need to continue to be more dynamic around our quarterback and give him chances to make bigger plays,” Jackson said.
Williams, who joined Seattle in 2015 as an undrafted free agent, mostly contributed on special teams for the Seahawks before breaking out in training camp. In their preseason opener against the Chargers, he caught four passes for 119 yards in a 48-17 win.

“I just want to say that when the ball is in the air I do have a mentality of going and getting it,” he said. “Some would say, I am not the fastest guy in the world, but if you throw the ball up I am definitely going to try to come down with it as best as I can and that is what I bring to the table. A big body guy, a big receiver that uses his body well and is able to go get the ball.”

That could serve the Browns and their offense well this fall.
“The offense is kind of similar to what we were running [in Seattle], just kind of different terminology and stuff, but honestly, it is not too difficult. They are doing a great job of getting me a package of plays that I just need to know and at the end of the day it's football," Williams said.

"If the ball is in the air, I'm going to get it. I know how to run a lot of good routes. As soon as I get this playbook down, the game hasn’t changed at all. It's the same game." clevelandbrowns.com

I see a lot of Boldin in this kids play. Those players are never flashy but they make plays that win you games. We need this kid to be that guy.

Williams is the guy I'm excited to watch. In his preseason highlights he looks like if the ball is within his reach, he will catch it. That will be very useful in 3rd & long and in the red-zone, both areas where the Browns have sucked for years.

While they still seem to be employing the shotgun approach from last year's draft, some of the guys they're bringing in seem like they might stick.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Kenny Britt's starting job in jeopardy: 'Let's see where we go this week,' says Hue Jackson

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ss...ncart_big-photo

Updated on September 12, 2017 at 6:16 AM Posted on September 11, 2017 at 4:17 PM

By Mary Kay Cabot, cleveland.com
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Browns receiver Kenny Britt may have dropped himself out of the Browns' starting lineup.

Signed to a four-year, $32 million in the offseason to replace Terrelle Pryor, Britt dropped a clutch 18-yard pass from DeShone Kizer in the fourth quarter when he was wide open over the middle

The drop came at a crucial point in the game, with the Browns trailing 21-10 and Derrick Kindred just having picked off Ben Roethliberger to breathe new life into the Browns.

Britt turned to run upfield before he secured the ball and let it slip through his hands.

The Browns punted two plays later.

"You can't do that to a young quarterback,'' said Jackson. "You've got to make that play.''

Jackson was asked why Britt is still starting.

"Let's see where we go this week,'' he said. "Let's see what we're doing this week. Let's find out. You're saying he's starting this week. We don't know that. So let's see where we are this week and go from there."

He reiterated that Britt will have to step it up to maintain his status, meaning this is a big week of practice for him.

"Obviously, he dropped the ball,'' said Jackson. "You have to play better. It's just that simple."

The drop comes on the heels of Britt dropping a third down pass in the red zone in the dress rehearsal game in Tampa.

He also had a miscommunication with Kizer on a deep third-down sideline route that brought out the punt team in the second quarter.

Overall, he finished with one catch for 13 yards on his three targets.

Backing him up is Ricardo Louis, who caught two passes for 32 yards, including a 29-yarder down the seam that led to Corey Coleman's 3-yard TD catch in the fourth quarter. Louis was hit hard by safety Mike Mitchell after the catch, and earlier was blasted helmet-to-helmet by cornerback William Gay.

He was checked for a concussion, but cleared in time to make the big catch on the TD drive.

The performance could earn Louis the start Sunday in Baltimore in place of Britt.

Britt needs to be sit. I believe he is D.Bowe the 2nd.

I want to more of Kasen Williams and Coates. I know they were not here really but a for a week, but we need to be really working with these two.

it's a shame we signed Britt in the first place. we won't benefit at all from his presence on the roster.

I think it's a little early to call Britt the next Dwayne Bowe. Bowe set some very very low standards.

I mean, his excuse was that he got injured in preseason and wasn't able to learn the playbook. (What a joke! With what he was paid, he should have hired a "tutor" approved but he Browns to help him figure out the offense.

It's only been a week. Give Britt a little bit more of a chance.

But...... I do think it'll be good to see more Coates and Williams. Hopefully they can get caught up quickly. Hopefully Louis makes some real strides as well. But I really hope Williams and Coates are motivated, because they really have an opportunity here. We have Coates signed for 2018 as well (for approx 730k$).

Williams had a great preseason I guess. And from the highlights I've seen of him, I think he looks pretty exciting.

Too bad we couldn't get these guys in here earlier

I'm not bailing on Britt just yet. If he is Bowe 2.0 he better be ready for retirement. I don't think he is. The drop sucked, he got his eyes upfield before he had the ball but I think he was genuinely trying to make a play. Don't get me wrong, he has been far less than impressive thus far, but he can (IMHO) be productive. If we sit him, we're writing him off and moving on. I'm not sure the team is ready to do that just yet.

Anyone know how much of his contract is guaranteed?

I was never a fan of the Bowe signing - in fact I was very anti that signing as I have a friend who is a Chiefs fan and he said Bowe was absolutely done ..... I am not giving up on Britt either .... but until he proves otherwise he is DB 2.0 .... I don't care what coach says, Britt, Kizer or any player. Show me.

This kind of stuff I just don't get. Same thing with Knight Of Brown with his "Everyone is a bust until they prove otherwise", why start off with such negativity.

Why start him at Dwayne Bowe status? Why not start him at Kenny Britt of last season on the Rams status, and let him working his way to Bowe status?

We cut better WRs than Brit. I would cut him now and bring one back.

Who do we bring back? Higgins? Payton?

The only guy I'd consider bringing back would be Rannell Hall. But I don't think I'd take him over Kenny Britt. Not after one week of poor play
