Police, EMS Refuse to Hold Flag at Browns Opener After Players Kneel

Vidoe on webpage

As seen on Fox & Friends

Local police and EMS workers are not happy with a group of Cleveland Browns players who knelt during the national anthem.

As a result, according to FOX 8, the police and first responders are refusing to participate in the team's opening game ceremony.

Maybe the Browns can get members of Antifa to hold the flag on opening day?

Good for the police and EMS.

Actions have consequences, especially those actions meant to incite instead of actually being productive.

King probably thinks them not holding the flag is the same as disrespting the flag and country.

It isn't. You know it, I know, but King will come up with some lame arguement that it is.

I'd make them wait in the tunnel until after the anthem, then let them come out. I wonder how many thousands would boo them?

Just stand up like a grown man and quit the kid stuff.

Sure.
Those are all very honorable actions by true heroes. But that is a false narrative because I was only referring to the ones who are now refusing to hold the flag because their feelings are hurt because some people actually had the nerve to step out of line and question how SOME of them behave.

I feel THOSE ones or being hypocrites by refusing to hold the flag.

As far as I am concerned , if they dont want to hold the flag, then eff them. Stay at home, there are many who would be honored to take their place.

One group runs to trouble to put themselves between us and the danger. The other are million dollar pampered athletes trying to get attention. I agree with the Police and EMS.

EMS and police acting like snowflakes.

Have you ever put a live frog in a blender and turned it on?

On 9/11/01 365 snowflake firefighters, EMT, and police were put into a blender alive.

Trying to save people like you.

Strange thing is these snowflakes would do it again tomorrow.

And? Doesn't change the fact that they are acting like babies right now.

You will defend these guys, but when other combat vets say they don't care or aren't bother and support the kneeling of the flag, you and others completely ignore it.

I'm a 4 time combat vet. How come you won't post my fellow soldiers doing brave stuff? lol sorry but you and others have fake outrage.

This combat vet says to the NFL players "keep kneeling til you feel you don't have to anymore".

I fought for their right to do exactly that. What would be the point if our citizens didn't use their rights?

I agree. The players have a right protest and I have no issue with it. The police and EMS also have a right to refuse because of it, and there is no issue there either.

Agreed. A lot of people make this about whether or not people have the right to protest, but I don't think that is an issue. Obviously, they have the "right."

The debate should be more about respect, gratitude, effectiveness, etc in my opinion. I am not saying my opinion is correct, but I don't think anyone should question if a citizen of this country protests against something they feel is unjust.

I really COULDNT care less if their whiney asses come hold the flag, or not.

and a little disclaimer here, I know Steve Loomis a little bit, and he is a crooked, rotten bastard. So I will admit to a little bit of bias against him.

The side most people take it seems is that the players are terrible for protesting but the cops and firefighters are heroes for acting the same way.

I think they're both well within their rights but people can't have it both ways.

they are just acting really soft right now.

i wasn't even aware that EMS holds the flag. typically i only seen cops and weekend war...i mean military personnel holding the flag anyway.

so when i saw EMS refusing to hold the flag, my first reaction was "so what?"

then i saw cops, and my first reaction was "so what?" but the snowflake response was definitely for the cops, seeing as they are part of the reason these nfl players are kneeling in the first place.

*******they have every right to feel how they feel******

i'll repeat that again, even though it's guaranteed that somebody is gonna claim otherwise

*******they have every right to feel how they feel******

and i also have a right to criticize them, as people constantly criticize the other side.

so to me it's just them being soft.

go find some random drunk fans to hold the flag, or me and my homeboys will go out there and hold the flag.

it means absolutely nothing that cops or EMS, or soldiers, or the pillsbury doughboy is holding it. they aren't better than anybody else, and it's annoying and snowflake like behavior that they continue to act like they are better.

I can see your bias just fine. The airwaves are full of talk slamming cops and glorifying the players. You haven't seen the pro-Kap statements? You haven't heard all the threats by the NAACP to shut down football in Georgia? You haven't heard Shannon Sharpe pretty much calling our own HC an Uncle Tom? You haven't heard all the negative talk about police? You haven't seen the riots break out in our cities and cops being spit on, having things thrown at them, etc?

I've also heard all those that have threatened to boycott the NFL if they don't ban players from kneeling. Quit acting like this isn't a two way street.

There are several more links I can provide. I'm not going anywhere Vers so you can stop with your "Get outta here." You're the one who takes regular inflicted vacations from here, not me.

It's not my fault that you refuse to open your eyes and see that there's two sides to this.

Do you thin these things you mention are happening in a vacuum?

Do you think , whether these responses are the correct response or not, that there just may be something that is causing them to happen?

So as I see it.. the American flag has become the baton in this little battle.. the players are "disrespecting it" because of their views on social injustice... so in response to that, the police and EMS are "disrespecting it" but they are really protesting the Cleveland Browns for allowing the players to exercise their right to protest...

So, while the flag is at the very center of this issue, it really has nothing to do with either sides point.. it's just something to draw attention to it.

What I also find funny is that if you ask any self-respecting Christian, there is NO higher authority than God.. not country, not spouse, nothing.. so you have a group that would rather pray than stand for the national anthem, and the right has a problem with that... if this group knelt in prayer any of the other 23 hours and 56 minutes of the day, the right would be celebrating it... but during the national anthem it suddenly becomes a problem.. so who is more worthy of respect, your God or your country?

The Players have zero right to protest at work, just like the rest of us.

The NFL even tells them what socks they must wear and could end all this instantly.

Can you point to the policy in the NFL that states players aren't allowed to protest?

Haven't seen any suspensions handed down so I'm curious as to where you get this comment from.

The players have a Collective Bargaining Agreement.. if that doesn't say anything about this form of protest, then there is nothing the team or the NFL can do about it.

And I don't know who "the rest of us" is.. but a lot of companies give their employees freedom to protest and be involved in making political statements.
