Not sure how I feel about this. I think the DACA kids/young adults are not at fault and using DACA participation to track and deport them is maniacal. However if they are illegal and we are going to deport all illegals then there is no other choice for the GOP and Trump that have painted themselves into the corner on immigration.

While I support a crackdown on illegal immigration, something just doesn't sit right when it comes to kids.

I feel like we should accept the kids at the very least. To me that's just too cold hearted.

When the news was teasing us (will he? won't he?) I made a prediction:

Why?
Because he's pathologically, obsessively devoted to all things anti-Obama. If he was wrestling with a moral dilemma (fat chance of that), the tie-breaker would be to scuttle it because it was an O policy. Nothing more need be considered.

If I was President Trump, I would end DACA now and allow those kids already here to stay.

Unlike some on my side of the aisle, I think we need to crack down on those seeking entry. For those aleady here, we need to expidite their legal status,


No doubt they have to come forward and be vetted, but I don't agree with deporting hundreds of thousands of people, breaking up the family structure.

Mexicans are good people. Strong family values, hard working.

Hard to not like that. They could very easily become Republican's if we supported them.

It is a tricky situation that I dont really have an answer to(nor do I think Trump does) but heres my issue with amnesty for those already here . It encourages further illeagal migration here. It encourages more anchor babies and more feeling if they can just get across that border that they will never have to leave, no matter what.

I agree. We first have to secure the border, then deal with those already here.


No doubt we can't just let them keep flowing in unchecked.


For those already here, we need them paying taxes and being a asset. For those not worthy, a one way trip back on a US Marshal bus to the south Texas border. Or Az....whatever fits their needs to get them closer to home.

thats a good question.

honestly i think kicking out illegals isn't as big as a priority as some make it seem. so if the biggest crime the parents committed was hoping the border...i mean it's illegal but whatever, we can deal with that later.

now the adults with serious criminal records like drug trafficking and such, they can bounce, and i don't care about splitting up the family at that point. the kids still have hope, but their drug trafficking parents aren't worth the hassle.

i do agree that we do need a better control of the border. but the wall isn't gonna do that, and we need to start seriously addressing root reason as to why they come. however, the trend of illegal immigration going down and deportations going up started under Obama, and trump is continuing that.

i just wished we focused on the real criminals first. that's the one thing that bothered me with how Trump has handled this so far: he's just targeting everyone without regard to circumstances.

Sadly, they're the easy ones to catch. I'd leave the ones looking for work alone for now.

Peen, i didn't want to comment initially on your previous post about latino's voting Republican, but now is a very appropriate time to do that.

Peen, it's not only latinos. most black people are conservative in nature, and i'd venture to say most minorities in this country are.

but when crap like this happens, when the white nationalist movement and supremacist is in the conservative ideology and republican party, when people watch politicians trash talk their relatives and people saying they are only sending murders and rapist and drug dealers across the border, how in God's name does anybody expect the majority of minorities to EVER vote GOP?

why would we willingly vote for people who makes their intentions well known that they are gonna do everything in their power to screw us over?

people said during the election that they are sick of the status quo with Dems.

well for minorities, and more specifically latinos, the status quo is a hell of a lot better than what the hell were currently seeing from this administration.

the GOP, and conservative ideology as a whole, should never expect to get the majority of minorities on their side when they are constantly pulling crap like this.

and what's worse is that the GOP never use to be like this. the GOP changed in 2000. it's no longer the party of Reagan and Lincoln. they can't make that claim anymore with any sort of credibility.

He's hedging his bets.

As it stands, he gets to make points with the base who wanted this, while putting pressure on Congress to save these young folks.

Then, he can go back to his supporters, saying, "See? I kept my promise. If you hate Dreamers, blame your congressman!"

And, as you said, he got 'Dobbie the House Elf' to deliver the bad news so his face is unconnected with the message.

This might be one of the wisest things Trump has done since entering office.. speaking purely politically. It has all of the makings of a plan that, for him, cannot fail. Maybe he is finally learning how to play "politics"...

He rescinds DACA, making his base very happy... he gives congress 6 months to come up with permanent legislation to replace it... if congress succeeds, he can sign the bill and say, "See, I don't hate them, I just wanted it done in a constitutional way." If they fail to come up with anything, he can say, "I tried to make this binding law, congress just couldn't get it done." And either way, Obama doesn't look good because he had a chance to make this binding law rather than executive order and couldn't get it done, even when he had a majority...

This is well played.. and I hope that congress comes up with something that makes sense that many can live with... Something that doesn't break up families or create mass hysteria or leave well-meaning Americans living in fear... but also something that doesn't leave those still in Mexico on a mad dash for the border... it is certainly a multi-faceted problem.
