Florida has an anti gouging law.. You can report such acts to the Florida AG and she will investigate.. Remember her,, Bondi is her name. She's the one that Trump bought off so she wouldn't go after him for the Trump University scam

Yeah, gas is up to $2.89 in some places here too. Not 6 or 8 dollars a gallon. I knew you would be one trying to make excuses for it.

And God knows there is no water. That's why they are charging 99 dollars a case for it.

These are prime examples of why there are price gouging paws in place. To stop business from victimizing people who are already victims.

Well the difference is, TN and GA have access to the gas pipeline and FL does not. They have to ship in all their gas by truck.

So are they getting gas or not?

That's the question.

9-11-01. A gas station right across from where I worked. The guy jacked his per gallon price up to $5.00+. (it was in the evening). I couldn't believe it, so I drove up to see. Sure enough. Plus, cars lined up to the road to get it.

Fast forward a couple of weeks. The guy got fined big time by the state.

Give it time - these gougers can't be prosecuted over night.

Here's the FL price gouging law. So yeah, they will probably get fined.

Yes they will and that's my point. TN. is supplied by the Texas pipelines as well.

There really is no excuse for people taking advantage of people in a terrible situation.

I believe that capitalism is the best system in the world. But with that said, it still has its flaws. No system is perfect. That's why we have some common sense oversight like price gouging laws.

Has anyone considered if the guy charging $99 for water might have to pay $89 to get that water at this point?

No. But if that's the case, he/she/they would be fine.

That's not the case though, I'm pretty sure.

Did/have suppliers upped the price? I would guess.

Not sure this has been posted, but American Airlines is offering $99 airfares to leave Florida. That's a good thing

True...Refineries get their crude from pipelines and other sources. Refineries ship refined gas and diesel fuel to the pump via truck tankers or pipelines to Bulk terminals. Florida has Marathon oil bulk terminals in Jackson and Tampa St Pete area. There are others as well but no pipeline access

Well, maybe that explains why they don't have gas. Can't make gas from crud.

The weather channel asked a stranded traveler last night about the 99 dollar airfares and they said that the have the special but there have been no seats for a few days at least at Miami airport. Then they put a message over the loudspeakers that Miami airport is not a approved shelter for this type of storm, so you gotta go.

And some of these travelers are stranded there because the cruise lines cut some trips early and dropped them off at the airport in Miami and now these people have to get out of the storms path
