Charge your phone. Car charger.

There's a way to do it with a 9 volt battery also. (I've not used one, though.)

we finally got our shutters up. I'm all prepped to hunker down..I'm still hoping it skates by us. I live by Kennedy right on the indian river, its so shallow around here that hurricanes usually bounce around the cape and make landfall elsewhere..matthew did that, i got some wind and rain, but daytona area got hammered. Saturday is what i'm seeing as the drop dead date to figure what we are going to get

I don't know what to think damage wise for a storm to come in to the west of Miami and come from south to north almost all the way up the state and then go off the coast for a short while to come back and make another landfall in northeast GA or southern South Carolina. It is possible that the whole coast on the Atlantic side is in the NE quadrant all the way up the coast and then a march towards Hilton Head/Charleston.

I was listening to Miami radio this morning and they said something about the storm losing some punch before it makes landfall in Southern Florida. I just went and checked 2 different models and they show that it will strengthen a little bit more.

I was reading about that. It is referred to as sunny day flooding caused by rising seas from the changing climate. Miami was going to spend money to put in 80 pump stations and they have installed some, but they did not put them on generator backup.

I'm at the other end of the state in Greenville. We're far enough inland that the storm surge isn't a problem, but the flooding after the storm can be. That and the tornadoes on the eastern side after it hits land and starts to fall apart.

Just got back from running errands and the grocery stores were packed and most of the water gone. Long lines at the gas stations, too. We've got a bit more time before it's to hit here. Roughly Tuesday if things don't change.

Been through enough storms to be cautious and prepared but not panicked.

Keep safe down there in FL/GA/SC! If it sticks to the current projected path FL will take the brunt of it. I'm surprised they have it going that path instead of up the coast like they normally do.

You can fill empty containers with tap water for now.
When the storm is closing in, fill the bathtub with water in case you lose power and the toilets won't flush due to pumps going down. Bucket flushing will work.

I am a casual prepper, so I have water, but I hadnt thought of that. Good idea!

Place any valuables you want to protect in the dishwasher and latch it. It is waterproof.

8 pm advisory showed that it still is supposed to be a tropical storm Tuesday @ 2pm near the Ky/Tenn border.

The pressure also dropped by 3 mb between 5 & 8 pm today down to 919 and there was just a recon that I couldn't read that was either 916 or 918 mb. It looks right now to pass over Key Largo which puts Miami in the NE Quadrant. All that water is going to surge. Eye is now symmetrical 25 miles wide.

Anyways, not sure yet if this thing is coming to ATL, but I am stocked on food, water, gas. Anytime hurricanes come here, they are usually TS by the time they get to ATL. Mainly I will be praying for my trees, because I have some large ones near the house and they scare me. Those + high winds would be a bad combo.

Looks like the eye is heading right for Hotlanta, Eve.

You and me here in SC have one major concern most of the time. High winds knocking power out and knocking trees over, not to mention the corresponding tornadoes that can pop up.

The first gas station that my wife stopped at today was already out of gas. She got gas at the second one, but it's only Thursday and the storm isn't supposed to arrive until Monday.

So I talked to my Dad in Tampa and he isnt worried. He thinks it will be pretty weak by the time it gets there. (to Tampa) since it will be going over land. He said the worst thing that will happen is loss of power. It might be several days for power to come back. He is pretty impressed with the way the FL Govenor has been handling things. Like he has the highway patrol escorting gas trucks and stuff. The guy has the state as prepared as possible.

Your Dad might want to knock on wood..lol, it shifting more west and is looking like tampa will be real close to the eye as it moves up. I'm on the east coast near space center so i'm hoping it stays away, but the whole thing is bigger than florida by hundreds of miles...I don't think anyone is going to be unscathed...all we can hope is as it moves to cooler water it loses steam, florida is flat so it making landfall won't slow it down. This ones going to hurt, no matter how you slice it

He is going to ride it out at his gf apartment in downtown Tampa. She lives 40 floors up and that place is built like a bunker. So there is no threat to them. He said it will probably be Cat 1 by the time it gets there. He said it wont drop huge amounts of rain because it is moving by very quickly. He said that FL has very many volunteers but only trained professionals can restore power. Which is why the power outage will be prolonged. Because there are only so many people who can fix it and the whole state will loose power.

I get that it is difficult to predict at this point, so we shall see.

That was an example of one station price gouging customers. Maybe now you'll admit that's exactly what that was instead of trying to blame it on supply lines.

You may wish to look again. Did you even bother to look at the links provided there? I didn't think so. It was pointing out that the examples given were breaking the law. It cited single examples. It NEVER said anything different than that.

Now you refuse to admit that your answer was to blame it on the supply lines. You were wrong Eve, Sorry you don't have the guts to admit it.

Quit acting like a spoiled child.

Youre not too bright dude. Its obvious you are cherry picking examples. And I already said in that thread they will get in trouble if they are price gouging..

So I dont know what you expect from me. But you want to continue with liberal hysteria about the 1% of gass stations price gouging, and OMG EVIL CAPITALISTS, then I will call you out on it,

Because it doesnt represent the majority of businesses in FL

Deal with it. Or become smarter. I know you have the capacity to use at least 3% of your brain.

lmao

Your conservative temper tantrum doesn't impress anyone.

You know, since supply lines are to blame and all.

Nobody said or implied that it represented all businesses in Florida. They were an example of what can and does happen. There were also examples of 99 dollar cases of water and 8 dollar a gallon gas in Houston.

We only built this country. If it weren't for construction workers you would be living in a pup tent right now. But don't let that stop you from being so proud of running some games on the internet. Your superiority complex is so attractive!

This is what most of the island of Barbuda looks like now..

I have to admit, I don't think I had ever even heard of Barbuda before this but it has been declared almost uninhabitable, the whole island, at this point.
