early start ... 21 in the sights
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

No matter what happens in the playoffs people should not lose sight of what a accomplish this is.
The World Series is the end all but winning 20 or more games in a row is just as amazing if not harder.
Baseball is a unique game so many things can happen that can lead to a loss. It is very difficult to win a double header. Win a series. If you win three of four great job. 20 wins in a row; like winning 10 double headers in a row.
Just incredible.

Meh, I don't agree. Sure, it's hard, but if the Moneyball movie wasn't made, would most people still remember the A's 20-game streak? I would, but only because I remember the mocking the A's took by them getting bounced from the first round by the Yankees that same season. As if, "congrats on your little regular season win streak, no WS for you." To me, and this comes off how close the Indians have come to a title in the past 20 years, this is fun but it means nothing. Win the last game you play, that's the hurdle for this team/town. Winning 20, 25 or even 30 would be a nice footnote, but who cares if they don't win a ring? The 2001 Mariners, 2007 Patriots and 2016 Warriors don't strut around with T-shirts of their regular seasons win totals. If anything, they're mocked because they choked in the playoffs. Winning 20+ games in a row is not as amazing as a WS title for Cleveland, at least from this fans perspective. I'm excited because they're peeking at the right time and chasing down the Astros, not about the consecutive wins record.

.... chasing down the Astros Dodgers, not about the consecutive wins record. The Tribe already passed the Astros in the standings. Yes, I know. I was rooting for the streak when we were still behind the Astros because that was the ultimate goal. Chase down and stay in front of Houston. Keeping the win streak going helps stay in front. Also, why correct my comment to be the Dodgers? What does it matter about chasing down the Dodgers? The AL already has the home field advantage in the WS thanks to the All Star game.

I will say Clevinger is probably the least fav of all the pitchers we have that I'd want on the record breaking game..hopefully he gets some offense, going to need more than 2 runs with Clev pitching. I know he's been excellent of late..but something with his delivery or his craziness maybe, just never makes me feel confident.

Tigers just got their catcher and manager tossed. Both? Looked to me it was only the manager. ...(edit) I guess you're right. I have the game on my PC, but I'm not listening to it.

Seems a bit odd that the catcher would totally miss that inside ball like that as he was setup so far outside...plunking the ump that just threw out two Tigers.

Not that I can prove it or want to research it, but I'd bet my signature for the rest of 2017 that the Indians are in the top half of the league with the bases loaded this season (and possibly in the past 10 years).

you know, Santana has turned out to have a pretty decent glove at first. He was a disaster at 3rd, but at first he has been pretty above average

Top ten hitting or missing ? Hitting + drawing walk + grounding into runs. Maybe, runs scored while bases are loaded? Not sure how anyone would check that though.

That changed this year, it is back to best record. 4 games back from the Dodgers.

this is why I don't like Clevinger, he has no stamina, he fades fast..he should be out already. 75 pitches seems to be his cap

Dang, I must have missed that change. My mistake. https://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2017/7/11/1...field-advantage“This time it counts” was the advertising mantra for many years of the MLB All-Star Game, but starting with the 2017 Midsummer Classic, this exhibition game is no longer tied to home-field advantage in the World Series.
As part of the new collective bargaining agreement between the players and owners that went into effect in December, World Series home-field advantage will now be determined by best record between the two teams, a marked improvement over the previous method."
