Eh. I think, most likely, that NK gets nuke and then tries to economically empower their nation, while still remaining diplomatic sovereignty. They don't want to end up in the state that Afghanistan, and to a lesser extent, Pakistan have been in for the past five decades. At least that is what I think Un's peaceful end goal is.

Oh well, NK just launched another missile over Japan.

Earlier today I was reading an article about the kid mowing the whitehouse lawn. That article I cannot find anymore though. It was a great "feel good" article, right up until the last paragraph.

It said "Of course, Trump grew up in wealth, and he's probably never mowed a yard in his life."

She probably does know more about it than Trump. That said, being knowledgeable about something is not synonymous with good judgement.

After watching the situations implode in Syria and Libya under Secretary Clinton's watch, I'm glad she's not involved.

He is involved, but foreign policy doesn't really change a whole lot from President to President. Even Trump has largely turned things over to his Generals.

What we get in the media is a sideshow circus. The reality is that the world is a dangerous place right now and North Korea is only a piece of the puzzle.

Evaluate this less as whatever silly thing Trump said or Un did and more as posturing for a possible eventual showdown that looks something like U.S.+allies on one side, China+Russia+allies on the other. It's a scary thought and I can't help but think those egging on an attack don't really understand the seriousness of the situation. China has already pledged to defend North Korea in the event of a U.S. first strike.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley warned North Korea on Friday that she is more than willing to let Defense Secretary Jim Mattis deal with the nuclear threat from Pyongyang if sanctions do not work.

Haley said recent sanctions have “strangled” North Korea’s “economic situation,” calling the impact “dramatic.”

But she said there's only so much the U.N. Security Council can do “when you cut 90 percent of the trade and 30 percent of the oil.”

“So having said that, I have no problem kicking it to General Mattis because I think he has plenty of options,” Haley said at the White House briefing, where she and National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster previewed U.S. efforts at the U.N. General Assembly next week.

It's simply more rhetoric just like when Trump threatened fire and fury. Obama did the same thing with Syria. Sabre rattling is a tactic that's been used throughout history.

A real fear is, one of these times, it won't be sabre rattling, but more.

And that's entirely possible. But there's really only two options here. Either they start a war killing hundreds of thousands of people or we do.

In the rare possibility that they ever actually try to hit us with a nuke, we will have a lot of time to knock it down since it's coming from so far away. Not so if it's aimed at Guam, Japan or S. Korea.

I certainly hope we don't start another war that ends up killing a lot of people that isn't necessary.

The odds of N. Korea being able to send a nuclear weapon that can actually hit the U.S. is very slim. I'm not sure at what point it would be smart to attack them. But it's not going to be pretty and the most likely scenario would be the beginning of WW3.

China and Russia would not sit still for it.
