my biggest thought watching the game was what a waste of a primetime slot

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

that's my thought during most of the TNF games my biggest thought watching the game was what a waste of a primetime slot It's funny, the fans get mad if the NFL just rolls out the Steelers, Patriots, Seahawks, Packers for a lot of primetime games.. then they give others a shot and end up with an ugly game like that. I know from a business perspective I should want the Texans to lose but anybody that beats Cincy is ok with me. Plus, for all the city has been though, give them a win to feel good about. Now they can go back to losing.

I found myself rooting for both teams to lose. Interestingly nit as difficult as expected. Still bummed that one team won. Neither deserved it.
Bengals lost to 2 teams that threw for 124 and 125 yards That's butt ugly.

Texans are not winning a lot of games. I'm not too concerned about the draft picks. We thought the same thing about Philly last year. Then they kept winning. Beating Dallas and the Giants at the end of the season. Those two wins against teams that should have beat them cost us huge draft positions. As bad as Houston played last night they should have lost. Cinci just couldn't get out of their own way. Somehow playing worse than an awful Houston showing So while yes, it was 'just one win', each win is one too many. From the way Cinci played I don't expect them to win a ton this year, but that doesn't effect the Browns in any tangible way. Houston winning has direct impact on the Browns. Sorry but I'd rather have had Cinci get the win.

Dalton is bad in the pocket but useless on the move.

Cinci just couldn't get out of their own way. I can't imagine anyone saying that about a team from Ohio.

'Good Dalton' is thought to be a Hue product (Hue was his OC during his most productive years).
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

I guess I have never been sold on Hue as a QB Whisper or even all Bang as an OC ... Like him as a Head Coach .. I would think that Dalton being at his career best while Hue was his OC might be evidence that Hue does have an ability to bring out the best in a QB. Flacco went from "not ready" small school prospect to day 1 starter with Hue as his QBC. So far DK hasn't been spotless, but he's been better than I expected, and I wouldn't be surprised if Hue isn't at least partly responsible for that.

Two games and Zampese is canned after being with the Bengals for 14 seasons + 2 games...and he is out, just like that!
Zampese came to the Bengals with Marvin Lewis..not sure what this means for Lewis' future with the Bengs.

Isn't Dalton a Hue product ?? No. I like Hue and will support him when others want him fired, but Dalton played well under Gruden. He progressed a bit under Hue, but that was probably more to do w/experience and team acquiring more talent. I think he is sucking right now mostly because the OL is terrible. Oh, and don't forget............Dalton has always been streaky. He'll have a bunch of good games, then lay a couple of clunkers, and then play well again. I do have to say he looks really bad right now, but it's kinda early to make any definitive evaluations if one considers the OL and his past history of being streaky.

I guess Barnidge left Houston without a contract on his visit today...That team is hit hard on injuries, specially on TE where they are on their I believe 4th string TE...I thought surely he (Gary) would have a job by now.

I like Gary, he's a class act and genuinely good guy. But he had 1 outstanding year, his 7th in the league, followed by a decent year. Other than that, his career has been pretty unremarkable. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BarnGa01.htmI keep reading the main criticism of Kenny Britt being that he had 1 good year, the 8th in his career after 7 unremarkable seasons. Yet many posters lament Barnidge's release as a huge blunder by the FO. That he still doesn't have a job seems like a strong indication it wasn't.

Yeah as really think that Kenny Britt is a great player. When he shows up and plays. But I heard he is not a team player. As you need that on and off the field.
Maybe the Browns releasing Barnidge may be a blessing in disguise.

dont forget that barnidge's good year included a few "lucky" bounces and circumstances IIRC
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Yeah I was shocked by his release...but now it pretty much points to the FO releasing and the rest of the NFL his days are unfortunately close to an end.

Could be the same situation with Grieco. I think there are times, as Browns fans, we want a winner so bad we tend to overvalue some of our players. It happens every year in TC. This year it was Jordan Leslie and a couple of others. When they get cut a lot of complaining is done and then we see no one picks them up. It looks like GB and JG are just 2 more examples.

D. Bryant is another example. We all have our own opinions of the players based on what we see but the coaches see more. We see them on the field but not in the locker rooms and not their personalities and attitude's. Regardless of what we as fans think, the coaches and FO know more about the players than we do and that's how decisions are made whether we agree or not.

Wasn't Cushing the one who was busted in college for roids with Clay Matthews? I believe that was just a rumor. Seems pretty true to me...

JJ Watt and Whitney Mercilus are out for the season. I don't want to celebrate injury, it's never a good thing and those players are great guys on and off the field who don't deserve injury, but that's great news for us.

I'm with you. Sucks for them, and hate seeing them go down. I think Watt is a little full of it (with the whole walking around angry shtick), but man... he's a great football player and good teammate.
Mercilus is super duper underrated.
