So .... I did the fun and exciting "poop scrape" test, and my doctor evidently found something, because he scheduled for a colonoscopy. Yea. Can't wait. Them my bad knee started getting worse and worse, and was becoming less stable. I mentioned it at my pain doctor's office, and the nurse asked me if I wanted a shot. I said I'd rather find out what's wrong. I went to my family doctor, and he did an exam, and didn't like what he saw. He sent me for an X-ray, and then I went for the results. He told me that there was some narrowing and such, but he was concerned about something .... so he scheduled me for an MRI. Well, we got the results, and it showed a completely torn meniscus. (I have similar pain in my right knee too, but one at a time) Anyway, I met with the surgeon today, and am having a knee scope in a couple of weeks. Yea. I'm getting old, and am falling apart. lol Anyway, prayers would be greatly appreciated. Thanbk you in advance.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Best wishes to you!
I'm enjoying herniated discs in back and neck and need my third shoulder surgery, possibly replacement. Throw on the fact I can only sleep about three hours a night.
I admire folks in their nineties. They're tough as nails! Hang tough!

I'll be praying for you, YTown.
I hope the following eases your apprehension a bit:
As we get older, it is very important to have colonoscopy's. My father died of liver cancer that had spread from his colon, thus my "family history" dictated that I have one every 10 years. At some point, it became every 5 years. Now, it's every two years. And I hope I hang around enough that they ask me to have one every year. LOL It's a good thing to have done at your age. Pray for the best.
You may remember I had a torn meniscus not too long ago. I posted about it on here because I was concerned at how long the docs said the recovery time was. Well, I had the surgery in March and I healed way in advance of their projected timetable. Here are a couple of basic tips:
--do the exercises that your doc gave you now. Make the area around the knee as strong as you can.
--do everything they tell you to do post-op. Don't skip. They gave me an electronic ice machine that they wanted me to keep on for the first 24 hours. I did. I also followed their instructions to the letter about when to apply it.
--start therapy asap. I began 2 days after my operation. Never missed an appointment and did all the exercises they gave me at home each and every day of the week.
--have a positive attitude. My PT asked me what my goals were on the first day of rehab. I told him to set a record for the quickest recovery ever for a person in my age group. We talked a lot and the dude pushed me hard. I told him to give me more. A positive attitude is huge!
I'll pray for you, bro...........but, know this: God gave you the strength to conquer all of your ailments. You just gotta believe!

Thanks guys. I appreciate every prayer I can get, and I firmly and completely believe in the power of prayer.
I have to admit that I am kinda relieved about my knee. My family doctor said that it was a torn ligament, but it turned out to be a torn meniscus, which is not as bad. I also have arthritis of the knee that the doc is going to "polish" off, so the cartlidge doesn't continue tearing. Al that said, it's not as bad as I 1st thought.

Yeah, I know what you're thinkin' when you saw the username. It's OK. First, Thanks for sharing such personal stuff. I’m honored you have enough trust in someone like me. Second, When we were young, they tried to tell us. But we didn’t listen. Did we? Our bodies breakdown with age. It’s as natural as well...nature. It happens to everyone who makes it this far. No exceptions. Third, Regardless, of all the stuff you listed above, by far, BY FAR, the most important thing is your mental state. Obviously happiness and contentment are more important than any physical maladies. The brain and all that stuff inside it are most important. To a high degree, I’m able to achieve a decent measure of happiness and contentment by avoiding and combating boredom. It’s my opinion that the worst thing mentally is boredom. Certainly for me. I think a spiritual belief helps a lot. Jesus is a good one. Fourth, Get another tattoo, loser. You’re in the thoughts of some stranger in Rocky Hill, Connecticut.

Thank you all.
I just went to the medical supply place, and had a choice of crutches or a walker to get around with following the surgery.
I took the walker. It may not look as cool as crutches, but it was much easier for me to use with my back and my bad feet. It is much more stable.

Thoughts and prayers to you Ytown. I'm curious if there is any improvement to your feet? I've just been diagnosis with neuropathy and didn't relate to the pain you were going thru with your feet until now.

You need one of these with a custom orange/brown/white paint job They originally gave me one of these models but I don't like them: 1) I kept breaking the hand brake cables because I had to apply the brakes hard with every step. (note this walker has 4 wheels and can roll in an undesired way in mid-stride) 2) This model is very difficult to maneuver over anything other than a smooth, flat (even) surface. 3) It's very heavy and almost impossible to go up or down stairs with. The one advantage to the above walker is the built-in seat. So if you really need to sit, it's always there. But I’ll take the Turbo2000 every time: 1) Titanium plated tubular shaft construction 2) Dual action universal release button activated folding 3) Hand crafted melamine epoxy resin composite hand grips 4) Lightweight silicon carbide front and side cross bars 5) German reinforced polyester glass fibre wheels (I operate with mine on the inside) Of course you need to accessorize with a materion wire free hang detachable utility basket. I turn a lot of heads when I go cruising down the boulevard in this sucker. Too much power for one man. Is this an old guy thread?

Around the house i use my cane depending on how good or bad day i'm having i either use my crutches or my walker. Now i hate having to do it but when i get into one the larger stores, ya i get one of the handicap carts.

Thoughts and prayers to you Ytown. I'm curious if there is any improvement to your feet? I've just been diagnosis with neuropathy and didn't relate to the pain you were going thru with your feet until now. I have a baseline level of pain and numbness in my feet and ankles. I have not been able to wear socks for more than 3 or 4 years. It gets better, or worse, depending on what I do for my feet. I mix up stuff for use on my feet and ankles. (Lidocaine lotions, Icy Hot, Biofreeze, Oxy-Rub, and such) I also use my TENS unit, but I use it, then rest from it, so it stays effective. I also see my podiatrist on a monthly basis, and he gives me steroid shots in both feet. (which are loads of fun .... though I have become used to them by now)

quote above by Y: he gives me steroid shots in both feet. Now that is a party. I've had the pleasure myself. Once in 1995. I'd call the experience (the shot) one of my top twenty most painful moments.

YTown, you have reached the halfway point in your life, perhaps it is time to consider turning your life around.
What I mean is perhaps it is time to start walking on your hands and paying with your feet.
Just a thought.
Prayers.
