Wow!!! Urshella with an absolutely sick play at 3rd to end the game! Just incredible! Tribe wins 4-1 for win # 96.

He is just amazing at 3rd. (plus that lets us play Jose at 2nd, and he and Lindor are a fantastic pair to take the middle of the field away from the opposing batters)

Don't forget Houston is only a game and a 1/2 back
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

Thanks for the heads up on the game time. I listened to the game on my drive home from work. Would not have thought to look for the game had I not seen your post.

I’ve said a few times, this is the best defensive infield in a long long time. Completely agree, and I think it's a big reason we've been on the tear we've been on. It's easier for pitchers to look good when they've got great defense behind them. Having Zimmer in Center probably also helped, as well as having Greg Allen there now too. There's going to be some really tough choices for the post-season roster. It's going to be really hard keeping guys like Urshella and Allen off the roster. Likewise, it's going to be hard to find room to keep guys like Kipnis, Diaz, Guyer and Brantley (if he even gets healthy).

Indians have won 27 of 28 games.
That’s the most wins in a 28-game span since the Providence Grays went on to win 28 of 29 ... in 1884!!!

Sort of did this before, but everyone let's play!
These guys are more than likely ON the playoff Roster: Encarnacion, Gomes, Perez, Santana, Ramirez, Lindor, Bruce, Chisenhall, Kluber, Carrasco, Bauer, Clevinger, Shaw, Miller, Allen.
So that means you get to pick ten, and only ten from the following: Kipnis Brantley Jackson Guyer Almonte Diaz Urshela Naquin Allen
Tomlin Salazar Merritt Olson Goody Smith McAllister Otero
In the field, I'd probably go with: Urshela, Diaz, Jackson, Allen and maybe Brantley if he's healthy. That would leave Kipnis off, which is pretty tough, but I just love our defense with Urshela and Jackson/Allen in there. If Brantley still isn't healthy, then I'll take Kipnis as a utility guy.
For the pitchers, I'll go with Goody, Otero and Olsen for the pen. Then it gets really tough. I'll probably go with Salazar first, as he could probably step up and be a 5th starter if needed. I like him slightly more than Tomlin. For the last spot, I kind of want Merritt, but I don't know if Tito would trust him enough. I guess I'd go with Tomlin, because he has the experience. Yeah, we'd have 6 starters, but I think Salazar and Tomlin could probably pitch in long relief if needed.

Very tough. But fun OK. In order of who I think is most likely. Olson Goody Salazar Jackson Merritt Guyer Otero Allen Tomlin Urshela Really just guessing. At least some of them will be right.

Olson will make the postseason roster.
He has appeared in 26 games, and 17 innings. He is a situational pitcher, a lefty who can get lefties out.
He has struck out 17, and walked none. He is that perfect lefty to get one tough lefty, and saves Miller to fill a complete inning, if necessary. Tito likes being able to match up, so 11 pitchers altogether.
Olson Otero Salazar McAllister
Among position players, I believe that Urshela has made it. His defense is amazing, and he'll start at 3rd.
I think that Brantley has to be able to play before the postseason starts, in order to make the postseason roster. I don't think that he makes it in the opening round.
So, if I have 6, I take Urshela, Kip, Allen, Jackson, Diaz, and Guyer.
It's actually pretty hard to make these choices. The Indians have some talented depth, especially in their pitching.
Anyway:
Starters:4 Kluber Carrasco Bauer Clevinger
Relievers:7 Shaw Miller Allen Olson Otero Salazar McAllister
Catchers:2 Gomes Perez
Infielders:6 Encarnacion Santana Ramirez Lindor Urshela Diaz
Outfield:6 Bruce Chisenhall Kipnis Allen Jackson Guyer
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

I'd leave Kip off as well ... tough to do, but a good thing if you think about it too

Warning: We have become spoiled.
If the Tribe wins only 1 of the 3 games in Seattle, they will have had a great West Coast road trip.
4-2
As good as could be asked from any team.

Pretty poor offense tonight, Ramirez torched the indians. As good as Tito is, i still think he leaves guys in too long...Bauer should never have come out for the 7th. almost 120 pitches.....in a regular season game....against bottom dwellers. Is it post season yet?
Anyone else nervous about Bruce's defense?

I wouldn’t trust Allen with anything less than a 20 run lead. He sucks

I wouldn’t trust Allen with anything less than a 20 run lead. He sucks I agree. This is how I have our bullpen ranked as far as blood pressure and doubt: 1a. Shaw 1b. McAllister 1c. Allen 2a. Joe Smith Any one of the first three make me want to turn off the game when they come in in relief. I know Shaw got us out of a jam the other night, but he more times than not puts us there. Sometimes I wish I would see Eric Plunk come jogging out on the field... Oh well, it's only one game. Not many have won 26 of the last 28.

[NRTU] Boy, some of you guys go from 0-to-negative faster than a '79 Ford Pinto ...
Winning 26 out of 27 games is unheard of; we'll most likely never see that kind of streak again in our lives. In baseball, a team that wins 6 out of every 10 games wins 96-97 games over a season, and is considered "dominant". My advice, not that you asked, is to adjust your expectations. There's a long way to go, and yes, we are going to lose sometimes. All we can hope for is to win the last game we play this year.

Physically Salazar is built to be a closer. The toughest thing about being a closer is the mentality. Who knows if Salazar has it. Impossible to predict for anyone.
Not something I would even consider experimenting with in the playoffs

This is ridiculous. Shaw and Allen are and have been outstanding. Salazar as a closer? Now? At this point, he has nowhere near the mental fortitude to assume that role.

Shaw and Allen been outstanding... Correct, Shaw and Allen, two key members of a bullpen that is ranked #1 in the MLB. Say, aren't you the same person that called Lindor a defensive liability? Now, that's a hoot!

Clevinger has been moved to the bullpen, Tito wants to use him as a "weapon" in the playoffs. https://twitter.com/DreKnott/status/911654066123448321

More Francona didn't name the 4th starter, but sure points to Tomlin in rotation for ALDS, if Game 4 needed. Team still weighing Salazar's role. https://twitter.com/MLBastian/status/911655045778751488
