Indians are 98-58, 40 games over .500 ..... 2 wins from 100 ..... with 6 home games left. (against the Twins and White Sox)
Josh Tomlin toes the rubber for the Tribe tonight, looking to become the 5th double digit winning pitcher for the Indians. (9-9, 4.98 ERA) He faces off against Bartolo Colon. (4-6, 5.33 ERA)
Let's go Tribe!

Been around the game of baseball for a long time on many levels. Lived in Atlanta for 14 straight division titles. Three starters in the HOF Glavine, Smoltz, and Maddux.
Since mid July I have never seen a team play as well as this years Tribe.
It has been a real pleasure watching this team.
The playoffs are a crap shoot. So many variables anything can happen.
The Tribe is the best team in baseball. They have an excellent chance to win it all.
It may happen; it may not. But it does not take away from what this team has done.

You are right but usually that applies more to teams who are heavily dependent on ONE thing.. Teams go into the playoffs and you can look at their line up and say...
If their 3 and 4 hitters go cold they have no chance or.. If their ace doesn't win every game he pitches, and goes on short rest, they have no chance (which was the Tribe last year)..
And the Indians aren't in that situation, they are so deep, they can score runs up and down the order, they can win with any one of 5 starters, they have the best bullpen...
It's hard to image all of that falling apart at one time.. it's certainly NOT a guarantee they will win it all because there are other good teams out there, but I like our chances.
Someone stole Bauer’s drone yesterday lol, just a fan protecting the Indians title run
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday. -John Wayne

We suck. Stuck at 98 wins for another game. Unbelievable.
Seriously, though, the tough thing is that Houston is up huge on Texas, and will close the gap to 1 game in the AL.

finish strong now boys. don't wanna let houston take over
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."
pretty sure Clev isn't an option to start in playoffs, Tito already said he'll pitch out of the pen. I can see Salazar over Tomlin, I can see tomlin left off all together too..he just doesn't have a consistent strike out pitch

Shaw is the type of pitcher that over the course of the regular season is very useful. He can be effective and he can eat a lot of innings. He has a rubber arm and can pitch almost everyday.
At the same time he is a one pitch pony.
If his pitch is not moving he is in trouble.
My hope is that he will be used as a mid reliever and match-up guy, not the set up guy.
Honestly I totally trust Tito. He knows this team and he knows what to do.
so far Shaw/Allen still suck..i wouldn't trust either of them in the playoffs

Sometimes a reliever lets up with a big lead. Our guys come through far more often than not, though.

Nobody that listens Nena / 99 Luftballoons can ever crack on Toto.
Besides, Toto's 99 is a world class ear worm ... all day long and tonight too, you or anybody else who listened to that song is gonna being hearing "99 woo-ooh", or else that stupid little piano riff at the end of every stanza. And you'll thank me.
Somebody posted a list of Indians pitchers that make them nervous the other day and got kind of blasted for it..
Shaw and Allen (specifically because they are the set up guy and the closer) make me extremely nervous.... their record says they are pretty successful but damn do I pucker when those guys are in... the last couple days don't help, Shaw blows a lead then Allen tries very hard to blow a 4 run lead last night...
I don't know what it is about Allen but he comes into 1 and 2 run games and it seems (probably not true but it SEEMS) like he lets the lead off guy on more times than not.... and that's a very dangerous habit for a closer.
Yeah, I think Shaw and Allen are our weakest links of a very strong team. Like I brought up before, it's not that they are "bad", it's that they play key roles and don't really have the numbers you'd like to see coming from those spots.
Again, here's the ERA and WHIP of our key relievers:
Code:
Name Ks/9 WHIP ERA
Tyler Olson 8.05 1.00 0.00
Andrew Miller 13.50 0.85 1.47
Zach McAllister 9.39 1.21 2.64
Nick Goody 12.15 1.07 2.70
Dan Otero 5.80 1.22 2.90
Cody Allen 12.05 1.20 3.05
Bryan Shaw 8.53 1.21 3.55
Joe Smith† 9.53 0.88 3.71
Shawn Armstrong 7.30 1.34 4.38
Boone Logan 12.00 1.38 4.71
Outside of Armstrong and Logan (who won't even be on the playoff roster), the worst two guys in terms of WHIP and ERA are Allen and Shaw. An ERA over 3, means they're letting a guy score every third appearance. For a middle reliever, that's alright, but for a setup guy/closer, that's squeaky-bum time.
Miller has the kind of stats that you want to see in a Closer. ERA in the Ones, a WHIP under One, and a huge K/9.
Hoping that Tomlin goes to the pen as a long reliever. He has to be on the corners. When he is too much on the plate it is like batting practice.
When I watch Salazar I see a 20 game winner. He can be overpowering. The problem is of course reliability. But the way he threw last night you have to put him in as the fourth starter. It would be a waste not to use him.
In a short 5 game series use him out of the pen. Seven game series he has to start.
Looks to me like the Tribe will play NYY and Boston
