If you cut down on blacks killing blacks then cops killing blacks should decrease as a result.
Less crime less need for cops.
If you honestly think it's that simple then I dunno what else to say to you.
Cops are gonna enforce these unconstitutional laws one way or another. They are already targeting middle/low class whites, but here we are as minorities having to speak up for them too because they are too blind to realize that the criminal justice system isn't their friend either.
Cops will always be needed because we support private prisons, draconian drug laws, and civil forfeiture laws in this country.
Legal theft.

I don't know where you live but I'm glad I don't live there. We work with police to resolve issues, if we witness a crime we cooperate and give them as much information as we can so they catch the criminal and keep our neighborhood safe.
So because you don't live where I use to live, they means it isn't your problem?
I thought we were all Americans? What happened?

I am trying to figure out what a month dedicated to social issues would entail. Neither do I,, but as long as it's peaceful, I'm ok with it
What specific rights do people need that they don't already have? Well, freedom of speech and freedom of thought and freedom of action seem to be under assault from the Trump team and his supporters, so let's start with those and build from there
How can police officers, as a whole, do better while also taking into account the dangerous and otherwise unenviable positions they are often put into? Good question, I don't have an answer. That would be a excellent topic of discussion.
Will conservatives have an opportunity to voice their concerns on social issues without being harassed and being called all sorts of names? You ask this as if Liberals don't get called names for voicing opinions. Think Libtard, Snowflake and many I won't repeat. You'll get what you give and you'll deserve it.

This is all about Cops shooting Blacks and Cops being racist, right?
I was wondering why we don't see Cops shooting Black women at traffic stops?
Is it because they pull over, provide their license and registration and then get on about their business?
In the spirit of Social Activism Month, I will take a knee for people turning a simple traffic stop into a life and death situation by acting like a nut.
Not during the Anthem though.
There is more black killing blacks than cops killing blacks. But you won't see that being protested!
do you have a source for that?
There are plenty of stats out there reflecting that Swish. I know you know how to google so I won't bore you with the articles, but they are out there.

You do if they are suffering from both heart disease AND cancer
Not if one isn't related to the other.

Not even close to the same thing apples to oranges.
You have 1000 chickens once a week a hawk(cops) swoops down and kills one. At the same time you have a number of your chickens(blacks killing other blacks) killing other chickens at 10 a day which is the greatest impending problem? The hawk or the rogue chickens?

- Freedom of speech and freedom of thought being under attack - sure. Just make sure you apply that to conservatives who are violently attacked and deplatformed for having views right of center. And the vast majority of people this has happened to are not neo-nazis or KKK, despite liberal media's insistence.
- Agreed in that I don't have a good answer to the police question either. The thing that frustrates me the most is that we usually only hear one side of the story.
- Here's a thing about the name calling. First of all, it goes beyond just the typical mudslinging which really doesn't matter. It also tends to stifle intellectual discussion. If race topics just devolve into liberals yelling "racist, xenophobe, white supremacist!" then the only thing accomplished is that nobody learns anything and everybody is pissed.
Also, when some of those labels actually stick, it can have severe repercussions for that person in the real world. The current political environment is such that many facts can be construed as "racist".
All somebody has to do is post interracial crime stats and there will be some wackos out there that label that person as a racist or white supremacist or whatever. How are we supposed to have a productive conversation when that's the case?
Heck there was even a Huffington Post article the other day that said that white athletes who stand for the American flag are standing for white supremacy. How are reasonable people supposed to take such an accusation seriously?

People are comparing police shooting unarmed black people to drug addicts, gangs and criminals shooting other black people.
Somehow I thought we held police to a higher group than the others I mentioned. Guess I was wrong about that.
And abortions among blacks. Really?
You are the same people that want every social program cut, kick tens of millions off healthcare and support private education.
So you just want them to have more babies in order to complain about the increasing costs of social programs, worsen their living conditions and claim to be the Christian right. lmao

No, she does this all the time. She whines about the NFL players but somehow she can't see that through the fog of her conservative tears. You see, in her world, when she whines, it's important. When others whine she mocks them. She has started her own group. ETM #Evestearsmatter

What I find really sad is when so called Christians constantly place their almighty dollar over the lives of children.
The poor will always be with us but advocating for the deaths of their children is evil.

This article from National Review suggests that 16 unarmed black men were killed by police in 2016. This was based on the Washington Post's data. This is less than one in a million black men in the country, and even this figure includes shootings where the deceased may have been unarmed but the shooting may have been justified anyway (e.g. they may have assaulted an officer or had a knife or what have you.)
I'm quite sure that some of those 16 were unjustified as well, and those are a travesty. We would have to talk about those on an individual basis because obviously the facts from one case don't carry over to the facts of another.
The whole idea that people are going around and gunning down innocent black men is just not true.
Yet it doesn't include those who were beaten, pulled over for no reason other than being black or even being followed by the police for being black.
That's the point here. The VAST majority of cops are good and honorable men doing nothing more than their job to protect and serve. Yet it's hard for people who haven't been harassed by the police to understand how that feels or with some people, to even believe that it happens.
My claim is not that police are just "going around gunning down unarmed black men". The problem of how many blacks in many neighborhoods across this country are treated by some within the police force goes far beyond that.

The claim that police were going around gunning down unarmed black men was not your claim. It was Swish's. I should have done a better job of clarifying that.
You make some good points about policing and profiling and such. I agree that it's hard for people who haven't been harassed to understand how that feels.
There's a trade off between things. The reality is that some neighborhoods have more crime than others, and that's where police attention tends to be focused.
Here's what I've been able to piece together based on a variety of data I've looked at: Many cities (often under pressure from BLM, the Justice Department, the ACLU, etc.) have indeed changed their tactics to a more hands off, less proactive type of policing with far less discretionary stops. All the good stuff we talk about.
And now that more recent crime data has become available, what you notice is that once those changes are made, there is an immediate and significant increase in murders and other violent crime. This is true for Chicago and several other major cities where the local police department was pressured to change its tactics. There were about 300 more murders in Chicago in 2016 than in 2015, for example. Well the changes to that department were made right around the end of 2015/start of 2016... go figure.

Use protection get snipped if you don't want children. Stop having sex unless you are willing to support the children you create.
How about that! you want to blame others for your actions take responsibility for yourselves.
I think important details in how and what these changes are seem to be missing.
And you are right that my views are simply my own. To be honest with you, I'm not even sure of all the things BLM stand for and how they want changes to be made. I'm certainly not against a heavy police presence in high crime areas.
I do however promote that the people in every area of the nation be treated in the same manner. Maybe my expectations do night rise to the level of BLM, The justice Department and the ACLU. However, I have seen enough evidence myself to know that there are valid reasons why the black community doesn't feel that as a whole, they're being treated the same way the rest of the nation is.

Ourselves? My children are grown and there wasn't an abortion in any pregnancy I was involved with. So maybe you shouldn't act so sanctimonious?
The thing is, I agree with you 100% about people taking responsibility. The difference is I'm fully aware that a lot of humans don't take the responsibility they should in regards to this. This leaves the children that you seem so hard to fight for... until.... they're born.
It's what makes this so sad. You wish to force children be born into a life of poverty, continue to cut every social program to help them, then acrt like you care about the life of children.
That's not pro life, that's pro birth.

The fact that blacks kill more blacks than cops kill blacks doesn't mean a damn thing!
It doesn't?
So you seemed to be worried more about who kills them rather than who is killing more of them.
I stated both are to blame how did I shift blame?
I can go out in my neighborhood at any hour day or night we have a multiple races living together helping each other at times and others that stick to themselves. The police are welcomed and are treated with respect as they treat us with respect. Not sure how that makes me a "a bigot, or possibly a psychopath" as you posted.
You could use a reading comprehension course too!
You just keep on distracting from the topic with whataboutisms! BLM? Police kill blacks at a much higher rate than any other group? Well what about blacks killing blacks... DO you get it, or are you just slow?
The topic is important and very real to the black community. Stop trying to minimize it with all your BS.
I have a son. My wife and I want more children, but until either daycare is more affordable, or my son starts K and that reduces the cost significantly, we are waiting.
See how that works. Acting responsibly, knowing that MY CHILDREN are my responsibility. If they cant support a child, they shouldn't be having one, let alone "more"
After wading through this thread I have come to a decision. Since I already started my own group OLM... Old Lives Matter, I now want to try to get a bunch of NFL players to help me protest a even greater tragedy taking place in our country. I also want to name my new group BLM and protest all the senseless violence and murders of unarmed innocent victims.
Babies Lives Matter
*Taking a knee as I type*
GM, you're a good man but the babies topic deserves it's own thread and shouldn't be used to distract from this topic.
Disproportionate is the keyword here. Cops kill blacks disproportionately more than any other race. Blacks go to prison disproportionately more than any other group. Cops harass blacks disproportionately more than any other group.
Would you resist arrest if you thought there was a good chance you would go to prison for nothing, or get beat half to death on the way to jail, or feel like you are about to be killed because of the color of your skin?
Would you hate cops if all this happened all the time to people like you?
You are all lying if you say anything but yes. Lying.
Would you resist arrest if you thought there was a good chance you would go to prison for nothing, or get beat half to death on the way to jail, or feel like you are about to be killed because of the color of your skin?
Honest answer NOPE. Because I know if I resist that WILL happen, if I don't resist probably will not.

I see how it works. I even agree with you 100%.
But you do know that not everybody follows this. You know that a large number of babies are born into poverty. You know that the GOP supports cutting funding to most every social program that would help these children.
Do you propose we punish all of these children because their parents weren't responsible? Do you propose we force people to give birth to children they can't support so society is forced to foot the bill?
I guess what it boils down to is if we force people to give birth to unwanted and impoverished children, what role do you believe Christians hold?
I believe we have the duty to help give them a decent life and education. The reason I believe that is I ask myself the question, what would Jesus do?

You should stop exaggerating. While the instances when these things do happen make for very sensational stories.. they are still pretty damn rare. It is that sensationalism that is driving the fear that if a cop shows up and you are black there is a high probability that he is going to kill you for no reason or beat you half to death on the way to the station.
I have no idea how many times blacks interact with cops on a daily basis in this country.. in the only stats I could find on arrests, according to the DoJ in 2009, 3.8 million arrests were made of blacks (not charges, not convictions, just arrests).. that's 10,400 A DAY. How many stories do we have of them being beaten half to death or getting shot for no reason? A couple dozen a year? And haven't we already found that most of the time when that does happen, there was some significant resistance involved? So the odds of me being beaten half to death or shot for no apparent reason is less than 1/2 of 1 percent..
So your statement that there is "a good chance" these things are going to happen, is a gross exaggeration... there is actually a very very very slim chance that this is going to happen unless you resist, then your odds go up considerably.

haha I guess I damned if I do and if I don't. if I point a common fact - if you resist arrest you run a higher chance of the above happening. If you don't resist arrest, you run a smaller chance of this happening. You have to be completely unearthed to disagree with that statement.

Very interesting stats.
I thought so. We would have to have 38,000 stories a year of arrests ending in unnecessary violence or death... just to get to a point where you had a 1% chance of it happening to you if you were black and got arrested.
I'm not saying blacks don't get harassed disproportionately, or that they aren't wrongfully convicted at a higher rate.. I mean there are stats that prove all of that to be true. It is something that we absolutely need to improve... but this notion that you need to run for your life or fight back when you see a cop are just flat out statistically wrong.

And it's hard to say from individual to individual what they view the protests that the NFL players are kneeling about. But I'd say you pretty much covered some of it in the quote above.
