I like Kenny and he would be a nice fit for this year.
Bring in Octavio Dotel and Kenny Lofton...that would be nice

I'm not a baseball guy, but if Lofton came back, where would he play and who's position would he take? It seems like the Tribe is playing well, why disrupt that?

We never should have let him go in the first place. The only time it made sense for him to leave is when we fleeced the Braves in the Lofton for Justice/Grissom/Embree trade. LOL.

It's his daughter. j/k
Kenny Lofton would, believe it or not, fit in with us this year, he would be great leadoff, and move Grady down to #3...Not to mention, he'd bring some postseason veteran experience. But, where does he play? LF is Michaels...RF is between Nixon, Franky, and Francisco...my guess is that if we trade and get Kenny, that Francisco/Gutirerezz(sp?) go to the minors...Or Nixon is released. Cause we spent some good money on Dellucci to just let him go.
And, the fans would love to have him back.

I'm more worried about what are we gonna give up to get him back, or is it just a waiver trade, for Texas to free up $$$$

Why would you put Sizemore at #3 instead of #2? I don't really want Martinez and Pronk moved down in the order.
1. Lofton 2. Sizemore 3. Martinez 4. Hafner 5. Peralta 6. Garko 7. Gutierrez 8. Blake 9. Barfield

Michaels, Nixon and Dellucci are all garbage and have not produced. Especially for the outfield position.

Very true, you hate to mess with Martinez,Hafner,Peralta right now, I mean there producing where they are..Leave them there. I stand corrected.

Because he strikes out way too much to be a #2 hitter... where contact, bat control, advancing runners is the name of the game... Now I'm a traditionalist and I know the whole thing is about power any more, but having a #2 hitter who strikes out more than once a game is not good.

Nixon will be traded for a reliver, wont be a top releaver, as his value isnt that high, but some team will need a back-up outfielder and give us a young arm, Micheals, he still has value with us and even though he's a FA next year we just might keep ihm and take the loss next season, Delliuci, ? with our young outfielders a veteran for the post season would be nice, but if we get Lofton he might become expandable if the player we recieve is worth it, just my opinon, with our young outfielders it's gonna be hard to sit them, but a veteran around post season time if we make it will be a must.

A 0.389 OBP would look fine in the 2-hole. Kenny can advance himself. I'm more interested in having someone on base for Martinez and Hafner, etc. Also, Grady's HR power and doubles prowess would look better with Lofton on base in front of him (possibly on 2nd) 40% of the time.
EDIT: Also, Casey Blake is our #2 hitter right now. Please tell me how Grady is a downgrade from that. Thanks.

Just something from MLB.com....(I'm like super bored today) Tribe eyeing Lofton return? Could Kenny Lofton be coming home? The Dallas Morning News reported that the Indians, along with the Brewers, have shown "significant interest" in acquiring the Rangers outfielder. The Indians, who had a scout watching the Rangers over the weekend, could certainly use their one-time center field staple. With David Dellucci injured and Trot Nixon having a disappointing season, the Tribe is looking for a veteran outfield bat with plenty of life left. Rumors page

i'd take him, depending on what we'd have to give up...
i don't think we need him though, i kinda like our outfielding corps... sizemore, michaels, gutierrez (who's just ripping it up, i told you guys about him 2 years ago) blake, and the younger guys like choo and francisco...
i wouldn't give up any of those guys for k-funk...
i'd actually like to see omar brought back to cleveland, more than kenny...
and with san fran basically out of it, why not? we could definitely use some help in the infield

I'd love it, but only to play against RHP. He was bad vs. LHP before, and this year he is struggling to stay at .200 vs. LHP. That works out well, considering Jason Michaels can play LF against LHP pretty well (as he has done all year this season).
Also, if he hits leadoff, Grady hits 3 and Pronk hits 5. You can't stack that many LHs, who struggle against LHP, that close in the lineup. I'd go:
Lofton LF Blake 3B Sizemore CF Martinez C Hafner DH Peralta SS Garko 1B Nixon/Gutz RF Barfield 2B
I really like that lineup. Grady would still have to hit leadoff against LHP, but I like the idea of moving him to the 3-spot in the lineup.

yeah, and the problem is, we all know what kind of a guy lofton is, he'd do some serious bitching about not playing every day, and from what i hear, the indians clubhouse now has good leadership and chemistry, i wouldn't rock the boat for a guy who's past his prime...
but yeah, i'd only want him starting against righties...

He's already only playing against RHP (51 ABs vs. LHP all year).

If the Tribe needs a left-handed stick they should get a left-handed stick. Not Lofton. I remember him as a guy who liked to steal 3rd with 2 outs just to pad his stats. He would hit a lucky homer and spend the next week hitting weak fly balls trying to hit another. The only thing I liked about Kenny was he could bunt and did even if the situation din't call for it.

He gets on base, which is always good. Honestly, the Tribe doesn't need another LH power bat. People seem to think so, but the power numbers aren't bad, and if you are able to acquire a bat that strengthens the rest of the lineup, you do it if it doesn't cost too much. Getting a player like Dunn (really overrated) or others doesn't make a lot of sense with the price and cost of prospects, at least as projected.

I like your lineup Log, but I would like to switch Garko and Peralta in the 6-7 slots. I also agree that if Sizemore isn't leading off, he should be in the 3 hole. That way when Lofton starts (against lefties) 1 thru 6 goes L-R-L-R-L-R.
Also, to those who mentioned problems with Lofton in the clubhouse, remember he is a 40 year old guy that's been on a different team every year in recent years. He's in no position to complain about anything.
I like the deal if it happens ... could be a real kick-start for the offense.

Actually, it'd be L-R-L-S-L-R-R-L/R-R, but I couldn't justify hitting Hafner any lower or moving up one of Garko/Peralta since they are both RH.

I was assuming Victor would hit RH in the 4 hole against a lefty ... and I think Hafner might flourish in the 5 hole. Garko is just an RBI machine, while I think Peralta is gripping a little bit in clutch situations.
Incidentally, do you have the feeling like I do that Gutierrez might be coming into his own? Things seem to be starting to click for him at the plate. He's always been a terrific OF, but if he blossoms offensively, then Nixon can spend the rest of the season pinch hitting as far as I'm concerned - vs lefties and righties.

I've always liked Gutz. He handles LHP especially well. Frankly, I honestly think that if they played him everyday he'd be good for .275-15-65 in a full season. I'm not sure if the Indians are comfortable doing it, but I think he has a lot of talent that isn't getting used to its full potential. Add that value on to his defense and baserunning, and you have a valuable trade piece. I'd love to see him getting more playing time (He is in vs. a RHP this evening) the rest of the season.

It would be nice to have Kenny in the lineup again the way he's been playing this year:
1-Lofton 2-Blake 3-Sizemore 4-Martinez 5-Hafner 6-Peralta 7-Garko 8-Guitierrez 9-Barfield
It would pump some life into our lineup hopefully. It seems we aren't very good at hitting for a team that is 2nd in baseball in hitting.

Yeah, and then we can track down Rico Carty and Minnie Minoso to PH.

Casey Blake is only hitting .255 (.382 OBP) against lefties. Sizemore is hitting .248 (.349 OBP). I still think you guys are dead wrong. You don't move Pronk and Vic down in the order to give guys like Sizemore and Blake more at bats.
