Feds just stated he had no connection to any international terrorist groups.

I wonder what the motivation was for a 64 year old man to do this?
To injured/kill over 250 people also tells us that dude had some serious fire power. I don't think there is "motivation" for something like this. There are just some sick people in the world. There is no such things as motivation when comes to killings and hurting this many people. Not trying to combat your question, just saying in general. The press always say what motivated the shooter or killer, or what have you. I always thought it was a loaded term. Someone to do anything of mass harm is just plain ol crazy, to me its as simple as that. There has to be a trigger (call it a motivation if you want).. you don't live a 64 year life free of violence and arrests (as far as we know at this point).. and then one day plan and execute the worst mass killing in US history. Saying a person who does this is "just crazy" is a cop out answer. His brother was being interviewed just this morning. he's lost, can't figure out why his brother did this. Finds it hard to believe. Having a ton of trouble thinking back to see if there was something he may have said, or something that may have happened and the poor guy was at a loss. Total loss. I feel bad for this guy. He had no idea it was coming.

For anyone who is interested, this video allows you to hear the gunshots and the amount of firepower involved. You will not see anything graphic, but the audio is here... https://www.liveleak.com/view?i=d52_1506944699

From what I gather she has been cleared of wrongdoing. I don't see how they could clear anyone associated with this guy from any wrong doing this early in an investigation. because she is and has been out of country So was Isis.

Man they were playing that on the Today program this morning. It was a lot longer, so many shots fired, people scattering all over the place. Just saw where there are 58 dead confirmed, over 500 injured (meaning maybe not all shot but perhaps injured trying to get out) Apparently he checked into the hotel on the 28th. So it kinda looks as if he was planning this. So whatever triggered this action, didn't just happen last night. At any given time, anyone can just go off on a killing spree... Some will say we need to get the guns out of the hands of the citizens.. I don't agree with that. But if there is a better way of determining the risk of certain people getting those weapons, I'd like to hear about it.

Saying a person who does this is "just crazy" is a cop out answer. You don't do something like this and its just "out of the blue" or on a whim. This guy had been planning this for a long time (based on the facts we know with his weapons, the way the room was situated, etc.). I also find it hard that just an "ordinary person" all of a sudden does this. There had to have been comments or actions over the course of this person's life with signs of distress or illogical thinking. And although it may seem like a "cop out", the fact remains, this person was crazy. Motivation, mental illness, snapped, whatever....if you do something like this, your nuts.

I agree with you and I'm not really trying to pick an argument... I'm just sick and tired of "praying for cities", hearing about acts of heroism, and waiting for the details to come out in the aftermath of senseless act of violence after senseless act of violence..

Will you be surprised if it is found to be a well planned and calculated act? We have had nothing but vile hatred flowing through the veins of America over the last year. Could this man be on one side of the argument? Could the audience have been considered a target on the other side?

Will you be surprised if it is found to be a well planned and calculated act? No, not at all. In fact, the Baseball Practice shooting came to my mind when I heard about this for some reason. We have had nothing but vile hatred flowing through the veins of America over the last year. I would say it has been going on since Bush took office. At least that's when I really started getting into politicsCould this man be on one side of the argument? [/color] Could the audience have been considered a target on the other side?[color:#FFFF66]Very well could be, see my thoughts above. But I do not want to judge until more proof is out.

I hear you. I was just trying to clarify. Wasn't trying to argue. I don't think arguing over is going to do any good - and that goes for any aspect of the situation. Its just a disgusting tragedy. And the sad part is, there are people on both sides just waiting and hoping they can use their advantage of an argument. I know people on the left are hoping it was a Christian looking to kill blm and I know people on the right are hoping it was another Bernie supporter. all just to make a point. its almost as said as the act itself.

I am seeing some similarities between this shooter and the Congressional Baseball practice shooter who was a 66 year old Left wing activist.
Don't be surprised if it is like that.
We will see.

IDK what to think right now. I am trying to hold out for more info. But I do know, no matter what, its about time we stop pointing fingers and start addressing the real problem.

Agreed, but I don't know if people want to address what the "real problem" is. I almost feel like pop-psychology doesn't want to delve into the problem because they're not going to like the answers they find. It's just easier to blame "guns" or "religion" or other superficial reasons. What I do know is that people seem to no longer be content with suicide, and feel that they have to take as many people with them in the process.

Its much deeper than that, and honestly I think we are too far gone to actually fix it.

Will you be surprised if it is found to be a well planned and calculated act? No, the guy is local yet had a room in the just the right place to pull this off plus all of that firepower? No way was this a spur of the moment thing.. We have had nothing but vile hatred flowing through the veins of America over the last year. We have.. and both sides have blamed the other side for causing it.. which is why it isn't getting any better. A little self-reflection would go a long way right about now from both side. Could this man be on one side of the argument? Quite possibly. Could the audience have been considered a target on the other side? Are you implying that the country audience (more conservative) was the target and that he, therefore, is liberal?... yea, that's possible. I'm sure as they scour his computer and dig into his life, those things will become a little more clear.

Well with 40 it has to be a Muslim or a liberal. At least he hasn't mentioned the possibility the guy is an illegal alien yet.
Somehow that seems more important to him than the victims.

You're the one looking for some angle with no evidence to back it up that someone with whom you disagree with has to be responsible.
And even Eve is right more often than you are.
At least she understands the healthcare problem and that the GOP just wants to make it worse, not better.

Yup,, And BTW, his girlfriend was in the P.I. Did she leave him?? He was not broke, he had money. Was not with anything political, so what made him plan to that detail and start shooting. I would question the girlfriend.

So this guy brings all these guns into the hotel? How is that not suspicious. Most, if not all, could have been broken down and put in a travel bag, etc. AK's, AR's, etc. No doubt imo that's what he did. Prayers to all the victims and their families. Here you go Eve. He had 10 suitcases in his room so....... Easy to bring in X amount of rifles and a lotta mags and ammo. He was in his room for a few days before and prob just casually bringin in suitcases. I'm sure when he was out fetchin guns and ammo he never used/hung up the "Maid Service please" sign. The "Please Do Not Disturb" sign prob got a lotta use.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/breakingn...ents/ar-AAsOiNtHayley Geftman-Gold, a VP and senior counsel in strategic transactions at CBS a the broadcaster, wrote on Twitter Monday just hours after a shooting in Las Vegas at a country-music festival left at least 58 dead and hundreds more injured, “If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs will ever do the right thing. I’m actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans are often republican gun toters.” Really?? Very sad.

Doesn't make sense more than most of these. 64 yrs old, retired, played cards at 100 a hand, won 225k in a night playing in Vegas-a high roller. Owned real estate, worth a lot-no trouble in the past. But also had 17 guns with him, ammonia nitrate in his car, 18 more weapons in his home, thousands of rounds in his home. Had both Windows ready to go. Planning went into this.
How do you stop this. You cant. You cant stop outdoor events, large grouts at concerts, school events games. And you surely aren't going to ever do something about guns. So you try to learn how to stop the next one and mourn the victims
