One of my faves was "Here Comes My Girl". Buddy of mine and I used to eyeball this girl who worked in an office next door to ours - she was a looker. Whenever one of us saw her go out for a smoke break one of us would say "Watch her walk." to let the other guy know she was outside.
It sounds like maybe he's brain dead but not actually dead. Meaning it's just a matter of time. They're probably keeping him alive artificially until 'matters' are settled, such as determination of his wishes, or family arrivals.
I guess there's a reason that, just this last weekend I was talking with 2 people, 1 is a CEO of a construction company. And his biggest problem is he can't find people that can pass a drug test. Even though starting wage is $33 an hour.
And the other guy -CFO of a large company. They have resorted to .........get this - adding $1 per hour to your paycheck as long as you show up for work on time, and put in your 40 hours per week.
There are good ass paying jobs out there. But, if you can't pass the drug test, or if you don't show up, they can't/won't hire you.
I forgot to add, the second guys company? The CFO? Max out of pocket insurance wise is $750. (per person, of course)
Smoke it up though. And then wonder why people can't get jobs.
It's called showing up for work, not high.
Hell, where my wife works, they have trouble getting employees. Same thing: Drug testing. They even offer an extra dollar amount per week for people that drive over 40 miles.
Drugs, and desire. Too many have the first, and not the second.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
I'm not sure weed is the core issue here for the employers you mentioned.
Small towns, like Archbold, are struggling to combat the opioid epidemic that permeate our communities. Unfortunately, this is all too common across all parts of rural America and many parts of America, for that matter.
There is one song of his that stands out as very special to me. In 1979 my daughter was one year old and was just starting to really walk well. As such I dedicated this song to my daughter and it's meant very much to us over the years....
Another I liked very much....
Here's a couple of one's for you Swish......
And this is probably my favorite on a personal level.
My daughter and I went to see him with Steve Winwood on his 2014 tour in Nashville. I'm so glad I got to see that show.
RIP Tom Petty.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
As for people who may not have heard of him, I don't think that necessarily has anything to do with age. In the current location I am working in, most of my staff are in their 20's and 30's, and every one of them knows who Tom Petty is. I always knew and appreciated musicians and music decades before my time. So, it probably has more to do with the types of music you listen to and enjoy than your age.
How does a member of the Grateful Dead live to 2017?
Take about good (lucky) genes.
The Grateful Were Not Dead Band
By being 16 when you play your first gig with Jerry. As the Warlocks. Then change the band name at 18 to The Grateful Dead. The rest is a wild ride, but he’s only 69 years old.
One of the things I like about Petty is he was true to himself and did his own thing, and did it his way. Didn't care about popularity, what was fashionable, or being liked by the critics. He just did not GAF....
Tom Petty is one of the greatest of all-time. And again, I know his voice was pretty awful, but the cat could write. And he had a great connection w/a lot of people.
I also think that you brought up a great point about how his audience loved the dude. He was kinda like a lot of people. Not the best looking. Not the best voice. Not the best guitar player. But, he was a dude who played w/passion and who had the innate ability to connect w/his fans due to his honesty and integrity.
He didn't have what most people think of as a ''great singing voice', but he reached listeners. A lot of his songs felt like he was talking right to you, having a conversation. That is a gift, not something you can cultivate.
Edit: well, it CAN be cultivated a little. But not a lot.
Tom’s autopsy report shows the singer was on several pain meds, including Fentanyl patches, oxycodone, temazepam, alprazolam, citalopram, acetylfentanyl and despropionyl fentanyl. The reason doctors prescribed the meds was because of a number of medical problems, including emphysema, knee problems and a fractured hip.

Tom Petty‘s autopsy results are in, and they show the singer died from an accidental drug overdose as a result of taking a variety of medications.
The L.A. County Coroner says a number of Tom’s organs failed due to “mixed drug toxicity.”
The autopsy report says when paramedics arrived he was in full cardiac arrest, but CPR revived him — but on the way to the hospital he lost pulse for 20 minutes. He went into cardiac arrest a second time in the hospital and died 21 hours after being admitted.
The family says the linchpin to Tom’s demise was the fractured hip. He insisted on touring for 53 concert dates with the condition, which worsened over time and caused him to take the meds. On the date he died he was told the hip had graduated to a full-on break that made the pain unbearable and may have caused the overuse of meds.
The autopsy says Petty suffered from coronary artery atherosclerosis.
As we reported … Tom’s official death certificate left his cause of death as “deferred,” leaving it as a mystery until now.
We broke the story … Tom went into full cardiac arrest before being taken to a hospital in L.A. He eventually died when his family took him off life support.
Fentanyl was also linked to the deaths of Prince and Lil Peep.
Tom was 66.

Also, one of the comments:
"I'm a physician. There is absolutely no excuse for someone being on 3 types of Fentanyl (hope some are metabolites), also no excuse for being on temazepam and alprazolam (Xanax) simultaneously........"
The medical examiner's news release said the autopsy found these drugs in Petty's system: fentanyl, oxycodone, acetyl fentanyl and despropionyl fentanyl, which are opioids; temazepam and alprazolam, which are sedatives; and citalopram, an antidepressant. The cause of death was "multisystem organ failure due to resuscitated cardiopulmonary arrest due to mixed drug toxicity" and the manner of death was "accident," the medical examiner's news release said. Petty also suffered from coronary artery atherosclerosis and emphysema, it said. Acetyl fentanyl has not been approved for medical use in the United States and there are no published studies on safety for human use. It is classified as a schedule I drug.
